PC, most certainly.
To get a 10 you need both an amazing singleplayer and a very good multiplayer. I don't think Gears's storyline and singleplayer experience can quite be up to that level. I'm betting on a 9.5.

GTA IV I agree with you, but MGS4, no that does deserve 10. Don't damage control dude.Truth_Hurts_U
So your telling me the game is perfect? The game is going to get me in it even if I never played a single MGS game since the NES?
I doubt it... No game is perfect and no game will ever be a 10 in my book.
From the other sites like GT and what not that didn't rate it 10 you get a real honest opinion on it. Definitely seems like a 9ish quality game... But a 10? Give me a break.
That might be why the Gamespot review scale clearly says "10 - Prime". No game can ever be perfect, like you said, so why rate games on a scale where some numbers will never be used? 10 is reserved for the best of the best, but not necessarily perfect.
How many times has it been said that GS just gives em away like candy?Jandurin
If GS gave them away like candy then Halo 3, CoD4, Bioshock, and various other games would have 10s as well. Do they? No. GS obviously seperates "amazing" games and "legendary" games. Basically, you should not experience this generation without having played MGS4 + GTA4. That's how I see it.
I'm beginning to wonder about this new review system. It doesnt go by averages any more, which I thought was the best way to do it. I dont know if this new system based on .5 makes it harder or easier for a game to get a high ranking. For instance, let's say that the reviewer thought GTA IV was really only a 9.8 but he bumped it up to the closest value making it a 10. Or let's say another reviewer for Ninja Gaiden, Mario Galaxy or whatever really thinks a game is between a .5 and a whole number but they round it down to the .5 because it is so subjective. Reviews are obviously subjective but the scale itself isnt supposed to be!
There is an astronomical difference between a 9.8, a 9.9 and a 10 here. However I suspect that anything from a 9.6 to a 9.9 on the old scale will become a 10 on this new one depending on the reviewer when another game can easily be underrated for the same reason.
I would like to get to play this game and decide for myself. I didnt think GTA IV was a 10 either, I think that websites are handing out way too many 10's now.

Explain the difference between a 9.8 or even 9.9 game and a 10.0? On the previous system, 10.0s were rarely given out because it implied a "perfect" game and would be extremely controversial. In reality it is impossible to argue the differences between a 9.8 9.9 or 10.0. What brings a game from a 9.8 to a 9.9? Who decides what would do that exactly? Either way it's completely subjective and like when they first explained the new system, it stops people from arguing "x game scored 0.1 points better therefore it is the better game" when in reality there are so many things to take into account that that statement may be completely false.
Conemned 2 is much more atmospheric and presented better overall. Personally i think everybody should play it especially if you haven't played the first, it improved in almost every aspect (granted the story is a bit wackier, but I still liked it).
NG2 is a game for NG and action game fans.
Honestly, I used to think "cool, Jeff is deciding to make his own gaming website it might finally be good", but after watching several of the videos and podcasts, it isn't very good. Not only are Jeff and Ryan not really funny (they were at first), but the reviews are kind of worthless. Jeff and Ryan aren't really the type of gamers whose opinion I would follow. Listen to some of the stupid crap they say in their podcasts. They think that reviewing drinks for 10 minutes is funny. Seriously these guys are dumb and not professional at all.
I don't trust GS ONLY for it's reviews but I do take a collective opinion of websites and I love the forums here so I don't think I'll ever go to GB.
