Despite the heavy criticism PS3 recieved last year as well as the many problems facing the PS3 (e.g. High Price tag 3/4 of the year) I am amazed to Say that PS3 actually outsold the 360 by a whopping 1.5 million. Funny when you consider that PS3 didn't have any of the established titles like MGS4, FF13 & GT5 but 360 had Halo 3 which is the biggest title for Microsoft and is the reason why Microsoft are still in the console game yet it didn't help 360 to outsell PS3 throughout 2007, not to mention 360 had other killer apps such as Bioshock & Mass Effect etc.

Proof that PS3 is the better console and it's even amazing when you consider that PS3 came out later in Europe and arrived in March 2007. Since 360 couldn't outsell PS3 last year even though last year was really presumed difficult for PS3 then 360 doesn't have a chance to outsell PS3 this year because the established franchises like MGS4 & GT5 will arrive along with Resistance 2, LBP etc

PS3 sold a total of 8.83 million in 2007 while the 360 sold 7.3 million. bu bu teh 360 sellz betta :cry:

Their numbers are BS, they just said that they wanted to ship 9.5 million by the end of their current fiscal year. Yet if you go to their site it says that by the end of 2007 they have shipped 10.49 mil. Now why would they lower their expectations from 11 million to 9.5 million when they were about to meet it? Maybe cause those numbers you are touting are SHIPPED and not sold. Which means they seriously stuffed the channel this holliday season. There is no way they sold 8.8 million when they are still trying to meet 9.5 million 3 months from now.

Microsoft had many of their heavy hitters last year and still could not mange to beat Sony. This just proves that places outside of the US can have a big effect in sales.

Those numbers are shipped, we cannot know how many they actually sold, it is somewhere less than 8.8 mill. Plus I seriously doubt they sold 4.8 mil in one 3 month period, more than doubling any other period. Also more than twice their total from 2006 in one period. Thats serious stuffing.

Though we are pretty certain it didn't, since there are no concrete #s for all of Europe. Though we do know the 360 won in NA and UK. And when the PS3s Japan and NA numbers are combined it is still a million behind the 360s NA numbers. Which means it would have had to rely on the smaller markets in Europe to make up for that million. Highly unlikely.

With the release of two news items lately we can put to rest two arguments I see often that PS3 fanboys use.

1. That 360 will not win without Japan. The NPD numbers showed that during the year the console market made 18 billion in NA. While an earlier news item showed that Japans sales were at 6 billion. Obviously the NA market is 3 times bigger than the Japan market. Not only that but each section of the NA market grew at about 30-40%, while the Japan market grew at 10%. Why are Japanese companies moving their games to the NA market? Maybe 'cause thats where the money is at?

2. I read time and time again that somehow the PS3 is gaining ground, according to the earlier news release about the Japan market the PS3 sold 1.2 million in Japan over the coarse of the entire year. That means the Xbox sold more in one month in NA than PS3 did in the entire year in Japan.

Basically I'm just tired of reading these threads over and over, Cows are always saying PS3 is turning a corner, PS3 is about to overcome. The PS3 is not about to overcome, the PS3 is not gaining ground. The numbers show the exact opposite, and no VG charts is not correct.

Fact Xbox 360s library has more AAA, AA, and A games.

Fact Xbox Live has more downloads including movies, tv shows, demos, and add ons.

Fact Xbox Live has more games online, with more features required per game.

Fact Xbox 360 is cheaper.

Fact Xbox 360 comes with a 3 year warranty while the PS3 does not.

Meanwhile you Cows keep spewing opinion, I have 5 friends with 360s no problems. Keep making stories up about lag and RRoD its all you Cows can do.

In August Bioshock PC was 77,374 and on the 360 it was 490,910. I still think you hermits are in denial. According to this link Bioshock was not even in the number 1 slot of 360 sales, yet it still dwarfed PC sales.

If I was a developer for the PC I would be looking at UT3s release 100k to Halo3s release 2 mil and forming a new strategy.

I think you guys are in denial, how can it possibly be good news that Bioshock sold more on the 360? And in a generation of the consoles and they all have stupid pointers like the Wii, how many RTS games will sell more on the Xbox then?
