Scrolled the comments while waiting for the video to load (damn you Adelaide internet speeds) and saw a tonne of posts about filling holes. Figured the usual idiots had crawled out of their caves until I watched Lisa throwing the term around in the video. Gotta give credit for throwing words around so gleefully
The CoD franchise was popular before the TV series of ASOIAF came out, Modern Warfare 2 was massive back in 2009. I'm betting revenue from the CoD games exceeds the revenue generated by the show (allow for some serious online piracy though). Sledgehammer has confused being "popular" with being known and respected, but I like this type of ambition, CoD has always seemed like a great FPS but never an FPS people were going to look back on and place in the same league as Half Life or the first Halo. Those games effectively changed the genre and if Sledgehammer can, somehow, develop a game that good I won't even care if it has Call of Duty stamped on the box.
