A New Love...

Oh. My. God.

I've fallen in love again. It was a beautiful thing, the way it happened. We met just today, while I was out shopping and paying bills - fairly dreary stuff really. But she changed all that. :)

It's suprising, really. She's related to an old friend of mine, and I've heard people talk of her before, we had just never met before that special moment. Once I saw her, I couldn't take my eyes off of her - her petite stature, her gentle curves, her unusual name, her bright and inviting face. The shop assistant was talking to me, I think. I wasn't really listening to him much from that point on. I had to have her.

Once I was able to speak, my words came out in a flood. I just couldn't stop...

"What size memory sticks are available?"

"What other accessories will be available on the release date?"

"What games will be launched with the console?"

It's a beautiful thing, my love for the PSP. :D

[ Insert Catchy Title Here ]

Well, I indulged myself in a bit of Journal Jumping tonight. Didn't have much to say about my recent Gaming activities - mainly 'coz there haven't been any over the past few days. Not much in the ways of decent blocks of time I could throw at a console to enjoy a Game properly in the recent past. :(

So I figured I'd make some noise here instead. Wandered through a few people's Journals. Made some comments. Then wandered off in some random directions and made some comments in their Friends' Journals. And even found some of THEIR Friends' Journals to make noise in. *grin*

Still only barely scratching the surface of the wonderful world of Gamespot, but it's nice to stray into unfamiliar territory from time to time. And if those of you reading this have managed to find your way here via some Journal Jumping of your own - feel free to drop me a line here, even if you just say "Hi". It'd be interesting to see if people follow Journal Jumpers back to their own Journals or not. Call it a lil' experiment. :D

More another night, people. Hope you're all having a good week so far...

Game on! *grin*

Metroid Update...

Well, it's been a few days since I last wrote NEthing about my adventures as the intergalactic Bounty Hunter - Samus Aran. And I've made a fair amount of progress since we last chatted. :)

After my battle with the Sheegoth (and my plan worked perfectly, I might add. I'm surprised it took me so long to think it up. Sometimes you just have to read the information provided in the Scans you take of these creatures... Useful hints abound. :D), I got myself a brand spanking new Wave Beam, and proceeded to run around opening up as many purple doors as I could find. And there are quite a few scattered around. It appears the game is structured so that you have to go back to earlier areas and use your new item to unlock other areas. Interesting.

Since then, I've found myself few more nifty items to play with. I've got myself a Thermal Visor (useful for battling rock creatures), a Spider Ball (those weird track things are no longer a problem), an Ice Beam (freezing those Space Pirates is great fun) and even a Gravity Suit (water? Who is slowed down by that NEmore, NEhow? *grin*)

I'm currently exploring the Phazon Mines, and working on finding a few of those Chozo Artifacts - I've found five so far, but so many of the others are eluding me. Just have to read through those description type clues again, and see what else I can find. Looking forward to getting my Grapple Beam back again, which has gotta be around here somewhere... :)

Game on, people!

Times of Darkness...

Well, a quest of sorts has been finally completed. :)

For some time now, I have been trying to track down a copy of Eternal Darkness - Sanity's Requiem on the 'Cube. I have gone into many Game retailers and bothered their staff on a number of occasions. I have checked out Game trading stores, and hoped for people to trade it in at my local EB Games. All to no avail... :(

With no luck in the local stores, I decided to try online sources, and turned to E-Bay. And almost as soon as I started looking, it became apparent that the reason no copies were available in any store was because they were ALL being sold online! Just in Australia alone it appears that half a dozen copies were up for sale, and more across the planet.

So I played the game, made my bids and as of about an hour ago, successfully won myself a (mostly) new copy of Eternal Darkness! Yay! :D

More about the game once I receive it - let's just say this game almost made me buy a 'Cube as my first console a few years back...

*bounces away happily*

A Smashing Good Time...

Well, I went and did the impulse buy thing recently. Was browsing through my local EB Games, having a think about which of the many games on my Wish List I would be trying to track down next, when a game leapt out at me.

(No, not literally. That only happened the once, and we're not gonna talk about that here today.)

I had just finished putting Metroid Prime 2 on layby (gotta finish the first one yet) and found myself inspecting Super Smash Brothers Melee on the 'Cube quite closely. Given that it was on special (a sale type thing was on) and that I have a good working relationship with the staff there, I figured I would give it a look. And well worth it, too! :)

I've played some fighting games in my time, but this one is a LOT more enjoyable than most. Where else can you face off Mario against Samus Aran and watch them beat each other up and SMASH each other off the stage in a variety of entertaining ways? And the sheer number of different modes available to play is a bit daunting. I've checked out Coin Battles, Style Battles, Home Run things, and various Tournament type things, and I've only had the game for three days now!

Well worth a look if you have a 'Cube and enjoy a fast-paced fighting game. Most enjoyable. :D

Chozo Mysteries...

Well, I decided over the past couple of days that rather than let my new Wavebird controller for my 'Cube sit there and gather dust, I would hook it up and actually play something on the Gamecube for a change. :)

Enter Metroid Prime.

I'd had a look at this game when I got the 'Cube a couple of months back, but hadn't managed to find a whole lot of time to play it. And when I got into The Bard's Tale on the 'Box, I put it off to one side with the intention of "playing it later". Now that the Tale is over, I've put it at the top of my Now Playing list and am giving it a good go. And I must admit, I'm quite enjoying the ride. :)

So far, I've managed to fix up my suit somewhat, and have accumulated a few goodies along the way to make my exploring of the Chozo Ruins on Tallon IV that much easier. I gotta admit, I love the Morph Ball idea - how cool is it that you can Morph from a human adult into a cool lil' Ball thing and roll around and bomb stuff? I've got some Space Jump boots (ah, the tried and true double jump is alive and well... *grin*), the Varia Suit (not so worried about that lava NEmore) and even quite a collection of missiles at my disposal.

Now if I could just figure out how to neutralize that Sheegoth without getting frozen all the time, the Wave Beam would also be mine. :D

Think I might have to head back to Tallon IV for some more adventures in the life of Samus Aran - I've just had a thought involving the Morph Ball and some Bombs going in under the Sheegoth. More another time, people.

Game on! *grin*

Tales of the Bard...

It had come to this, at last. One man, a Poet and a Rogue, with no friends to speak of, no-one to mourn his passing - should it come to that. Even those beside him were no more boon companions that bond-servants, summoned by sorcery and song. As cold and indifferent to him as the light of a wandering star...

So began The Bard's Tale, a somewhat rollicking RPG Adventure - filled with sarcasm and some interesting lil' twists on the genre. Or at least, it did. Until I managed to complete my quest yesterday and save the Princess. Well, kinda. To see what I mean exactly, you'll prolly want to check out the game yaself and give it a good look. I must admit I quite enjoyed it, and am planning on writing up a review of it later today so that you can all have a good read of it.

(I'll chuck in some links to it once it's finished so that you don't have to actually work too hard to find it, OK? :))

The good news is that I can now add this Game to my completed games list, and move on to another X-Box game to amuse myself. I'd like to give Jade Empire a good go (as it looks quite good actually), but I think I might have to try and finish Burnout 3 first, as that one's been sitting there for a while now, and I WANT MY FIRETRUCK! :P

Keep your eyes peeled for a Review, people. More another time, I think.

Keep on Gaming! :D

Empires in the key of Green...

Picked up my copy of Jade Empire (Limited Edition if you please) today from EB Games. Game looks pretty kewl, although the manual doesn't give much away on the story of the game itself. So after I finish writing this (shorter than normal) entry, I think I'm gonna fire up the X-Box and give it a burl... :)

I'll CYA all in a couple of weeks when I come back up for air again. Have fun, boys and girls! :D

Part-Time Gaming Update...

I know I've said before that I have too many good games to play and not enough hours in the day for them all, but it's TRUE! :D

I must admit, Gaming in general hasn't been high on my list of priorities over the past couple of months (as you may have been able to guess from my general absence here at GS for the same sorta time). However, I have managed to occasionally pick up the DS, or fire up the X-Box for some good old-fashioned fun. :) (The 'Cube and PS2 have been a lil' quiet - but they're still there, waiting patiently.)

On the DS, I've been playing some Final Fantasy Tactics Advance whenever I have some time. I think I'm getting close on half way through all the Missions in the game - I think. I'm clocking in at around 57 hours game time so far, so this game is kinda large. Managed to build up some pretty kewl characters - got myself a Hunter now so I'm trying to catch as many critters as I can for my Morpher to change into. Working on a Gladiator, a Dragoon and a Templar which are all going well. Trying to nail down a Blue Mage and some of the Moogle classes, but I've got a while to go before I've sorted 'em all. Still enjoying the ride, and a review will follow - once I finish the game. Patience is a virtue, people. :)

The 'Box has been amusing me with The Bard's Tale. A not-too-shabby RPG with a few good laughs, and some good gameplay as well. I'm over halfway through it now, I think - two towers down, one to go. So I figure over the next week or so I shall manage to free Princess Caleigh and claim my just reward. ;)

Once I finish up adventuring with everyone's favourite Minstrel, I shall be putting pen to paper and airing my thoughts on it. At which point I may have to try and finish up the Challenge between myself and my good mate Stan. Yes, everything was going at a cracking pace - both of us vying for first place by completing the game. Then it kinda... stopped. Nine races from the end of the game. Haven't looked at it in a couple of months. (Stan's prolly finished it by now, which would be a tad annoying. :P)

So I'm trying to get back into some more regular Gaming, and make more of an addition to my completed games list. (Which currently numbers two games in the last six months or so - Ratchet and Clank and Lord of the Rings - The Third Age) Maybe I should just call in sick for a week or so?

More another time people - have a great week in Gaming! :D
