What did you expect from a 400$ console

If you are cheap as ass, like Tormentos :P, you buy PS4.

If you have self respect as a gamer and human being, then you build a gaming PC for 1000$.

Stupid comment of the day.

I agree. That comment didn't make much sense. Considering what software costs on consoles there's nothing cheap about it. I think that PC gamers often overlook one of the primary reasons some console gamers stay away from PC gaming: Simplicity. What drives me most crazy about PCs is the way that no matter how hard you try to keep on top of it they get more and more screwed up over time. I just got a new laptop yesterday and it's running great. But I know that in a year's time it won't be performing the same way it is now. To dare use a PC is to cause scores of broken dlls, program fragments, and a kzillion other little problems that pile up over time to the point that despite the hardware still being fine the thing is running like a sick dog. No matter how savvy you are there's gonna be things you miss. That typically doesn't happen on consoles. 5 years later they continue to work like the day you bought them or they don't work at all. With PC the gray area is infinite.

Who said PS4 is "so powerful." It isn't. It's actually rather underpowered considering where graphics tech is right now. It's more powerful than Xbox One. But that's it.

This is backwards. What caused the 80s crash was oversaturation of crap games for low prices. That is EXACTLY the situation with mobile right now.

Another thing, gaming in the 80s didn't crash because of lack of consumer interest. People wanted games as much as they ever had. It crashed at the business level: companies couldn't make money anymore because the market was flooded with cheap crap ... again, exactly what is going on in the mobile sphere right now.

Consoles don't have that problem ... not yet anyway. I'm curious to see what indies are gonna make the console market like. Hopefully MS and Sony are smart enough to not let them make a bloated, unruly mess of it like the mobile market is.

720p is not as bad as a lot of you are making out. If you're sitting several feet away from the TV it's pretty damned hard to tell the difference between 720p and 1080p. And AA also plays a factor. If anti-aliasing is done very well a 720p game can look damned good. But anyway, if you're planning on getting either one of these consoles you're gonna have to accept it cuz neither is powerful enough to really be 1080p machines. After a while 720p or at least sub-1080p upscaled is gonna become the norm for them.

[QUOTE="superclocked"]Only the PS4 is supposedly balanced for 14CU's being used for graphics. As for the 12CU's in the XB1, there are actually 14 of them, but 2 are disabled. Microsoft got better performance with 12 overclocked cores than 14 stock cores...superclocked

It doesn't matter if there are 2 disabled CUs. If they aren't being used there's no point in mentioning them.

lol, you're the one that brought them up and asked a question about them :| Microsoft considered unlocking them and using 14 CU's, but they got better performance results by overclocking the 12 CU's...

Umm, I asked why it has only 12 (By 12 I meant 12 FUNCTIONING ones) since they're the ones that pointed out in a Eurogamer article that PS4 is balanced for 14. Since they both use the same CPU it seems to me their best balance would be 14 as well.

If 14 CUs is "balanced" then why does Xbox One use only 12 of them instead of 14?

Whats all this about.....are these upgrades ontop of the ones we already knew about?

"Phil Harrison confirmed that the Xbox one has had a GPU and CPU upgrade since the original announcement back at E3, and that this is the model currently in production. We were not given details on the specifications of these upgraded components."

http://www.gameora.com/tag/xbox-reviews/

Evo_nine

He is referring to the upclocks they have discussed over the summer. No components have been changed, it is the same specifications we have all known about for awhile now. Please tell me you're not some believer of a certain website.

I know the cpu was upgraded...but cant remember if the gpu had been also.....

It's not an upgrade, just a tiny upclock.
