[QUOTE="navyguy21"]But that isnt what our "debate" is about. A first grader would know 18>12. What it MEANS in real world processing is a different animal. As i said before, you keep talking as if a larger number = a large advantage, which isnt true at all, especially when there are so many other variables and moving parts. You ignore those, which is my point.navyguy21

There are articles EVERYWHERE that get into fine detail about why PS4 is more powerful. I'm not about to spend a freaking hour typing out all that stuff to you. If you're gonna be outside of the cave you've apparently been spending so much of your time in for a few more minutes check some of them out.

I have read them all, hell we have talked about them in presentations. Im just not blind. Again, im not saying the PS4 ISNT more powerful. You keep assuming that. The PS4 is clearly the more powerful system, and not just the GPU. What i thought we were debating is the disparity between the two. You said it was larger than PS3 vs 360. I NEVER said that PS4 was weaker or that the XB1 was as powerful. I have been defending the disparity this whole time. The difference in power isnt as large as you are trying to make it seem, bottom line. That was my whole point and it has remained the same. Your argument is all over the place.

It's a 500-600 gflops difference, more than 2 360s' worth of power. In your world perhaps that's nothing, in mine it's a pretty big difference.

What equates to a $200 graphics card is a beast ? What does that make a $300 card, a $400 card, a $1000 card ? Super Beasts ?

HaloinventedFPS

Well it's more like a 7850 clocked at 800mhz, so it's more like a $100 card honestly, a 7790 is around that price

I don't agree with this. It's more like an underclocked 7870 which brings the performance down to 7850 levels. I've even heard that there's actually 20 CUs in it, like a 7870, but 2 are deactivated for yields.

Well, if ya know about PC tech than you know that 18 AMD compute units > 12 of them, lol.

[QUOTE="navyguy21"]Not entirely true. 2 people can get the same information and get drastically different conclusions based on their education on the given information. For you to assume that 18>12 is a big difference would be pure speculation if you dont understand what compute units are or what they are capable of. For example, cows say that the power is a huge difference, yet when XBone's GPU was increased 53mhz, it was brushed off as minor. Do you know how each systems OS will be handled? If those extra compute units will be always dedicated to something else? You have no idea, so to speculate would be basically saying you are blinded by the internet info or either are a fanboy of either side already.navyguy21

Lol, what's there to understand? It's 1.8 tflops vs 1.2 (Now 1.3). In other words it's roughly 7X the power of 360 vs 5X the power of 360. Everyone understands it just fine. You're going on about cows and bias but you're the only one showing it ... hell ... you're drowning in it. Does this mean PS4 will be more fun than Xbox One? Not necessarily. Heck, if ya ask me one big knock on PS4 is that god-awful controller. But to anyone without blinders on it's obvious that PS4 has a lot more graphics processing under its hood than Xbox One does.

Well, if ya know about PC tech than you know that 18 AMD 7000 series compute units > 12 of them, lol.

Umm, unless you've been invited to some personal tour aren't we all going by internet information? Everyone knows that Xbox One has 12 compute units and PS4 has 18. That's a big difference.

I don't know if the GPU gap is that big but it is big. Bigger than what separates 360 and PS3.

And btw, I'm not a cow at all. I haven't owned a Sony console since the original Playstation. I would prefer Xbox One to be more powerful, or heck, even as powerful as PS4 but it just isn't.

It's a smaller jump than the last time. Xbox 360 was competitive with high-end PC graphics cards when it launched. PS4 and especially Xbox One will be nowhere near high-end PC graphics cards when they launch.

nameless12345

But putting things into perspective - X360 was only competitive for the first year or two while PS3 was "dated on release".

Namely the GeForce 8800 combined with Intel Q6600 and 2 GB RAM put both consoles in the "trash bin" when it came to graphics. (see Crysis 1)

Of course the PC market surpassed it after a year or two because the PC market evolves constantly. Still the fact remains that when the 360 launched it had a damned good GPU in it for its time.

Seems like the Xbone to the PS4 is pretty similar to the PS2 to the 360. Gonna be rough for lems.
