VC alone makes PS3 RPG master again. Okay that may be over doing it but I have that game and Disgaea 3. Both very good games. Never bought Tales of whatever on the PS2 so I doubt I would have even bought it if it was on the PS3.

Oh and don't forget White Knight Chronicles everyone!

Zidaneski

I feel the same way. I love VC, but somehow I'm actually missing Disgaea 3 in the back of my mind (I own it, but decided to beat Oblivion and Folklore first and now have VC). I'm just a sucker for SRPGs, mostly because of FFTactics, which is the main reason I adore Disgaea 3 (D3 is like Tactics multiplied in my opinion, as far as gameplay). I'm surprised at the recent SE games, though. Last Remnant looked epic in the trailers, but for some reason, when I watch the gameplay footage, it seems hastily thrown together. Now I'm afraid to touch it if comes out on PS3. White Knight looks graphically impressive, although the battles didn't seem too thrilling based on the early footage I watched. Ah well!

I heard that Bioshock just got the graphics patched for the PS3, so that's quite a deal. I'm going to have to find this Gamecrazy place! Thanks for the great post!

Haha! I don't think we qualify as fanboys if we're open minded about other consoles. We do have a great community here in the Gamespot forums. Maybe it's because we're just so happy with our PS3s, we want to share the excitement with anyone who's interested. I've come to the point lately where I enjoy my PS3 more than my PS2, which is saying a lot. Valkyria Chronicles tipped the scale for me, and with the upcoming Killzone 2 (and whenever God of War 3 will be released) it's a very exciting time to own a PS3. If you've yet to play MGS4, that's another big treat. But yes, one of my best friends has a 360 and I wasn't afraid to admit GTA4 looked better on the 360. I just enjoy my PS3 far more overall, and the titles that are being released on it, and the free network. Feel free to add me when you get on PSN. I have COD4, MGO, GTA4 and Soul Caliber 4 to play online. Welcome!

Yeah, that aspect is pretty cool. I was trying to come up with some uses so that new users that don't have people to talk to yet could forge bizarre alliances and cause digital havoc or keep digital peace.Gesyma

You've got to form the Digital Havoc club. Have you tried to club thing yet on Home? You'd have your own Digital Havoc clubhouse where you can post your objectives on the club bulletin board. The name is catchy and you'd probably get a considerable following.

No insults mate. All I'm saying is that you'd never find Disease Factory from V.A.C. playing around in HOME... :?

Gesyma

Lol. He might if he's a PS3 fan and they offer customizations that suit his style. He could demo his new songs on Home, throw release parties. But that's actually one thing I'm wondering about. I'd like to know how extensive the shopping catalogue is going to be after the final version is released. I'm guessing there won't be user-made content, although I could be wrong (they might offer a way to do it), but we're going to be relying on the developers to provide enough choices for people to customize their avatars and apartments... to match the versatility of people themselves. One feature we do know will be included is integration with some of the major titles (the Uncharted lounge for example--should be more entertaining than the Beta areas). If I can get an entire outfit based on a dinky game like Icebreaker, it doesn't seem far fetched to think other game related outfits/items will be included. If and when I get the chance to provide feedback, I'm going to suggest that trophies have some value in Home, like you could win game based items from your trophies.  If only they had trophy support for games like Soul Caliber IV, it would be pretty sweet to have either Soul Edge hanging from the wall in your apartment, or perhaps to be able to walk around with it on your avatar.

I think Home is a funny situation because a lot of us are obsessed with what it could possibly do. I'm just glad to have it--even the Beta. it's still an important application because either XBL saw fit to try and compete with it, or those media sharing, group chat features are really in demand. Maybe there will be more things to do on Home in the future, like expansion packs for additional activities. I can see that happening, but I don't know why they would do it for free. What we do know is that the final release will be a lot more entertaining.

You're absolutely right xepheon. Thank you. I will try not to have an opinion and sit down and shut up until a question is asked. Are you a facist by chance? It looks like you have a swastika in your avatar. Gesyma

I never said you shouldn't state your opinion, I just offered my own arguments for why I enjoy Home and how it compares to other forms of online interaction. There's really no need to fall back on insults. Your original post is just as "fascist" as mine is, lol.

And then to heal yourself you had to go to the hospital and a sexy nurse would cure your wounds (It could be a male nurse if your avatar was a girl).

But srsly, fighting is needed, as long people don't over do it. But I can see this from Sony's perspective. Some trolls goes around punching people for no good reason, that would be pretty annoying. Myself I would kick his as until his character was dead, but other sissy people might not like it.

rogerjak

There's no point in having a lame fighting application in Home that would extend the release date even further. If you want to punch someone, get in their face and tell them, "Let's take this to Soul Caliber IV," or the new Street Fighter, or even COD4/COD5... or R2! For that matter, you could even start a fight club within Home and hold tournaments. This is no doubt something that's going to happen in the final version, but game setup isn't enabled in the Beta. So as of now, you can only challenge them to chess, pool, or bowling. In any case, fighting in Home would probably be handled like flagging in WOW (Warcraft), so if the battle is optional it may as well take place within an actual game.

Oh, and the MMORPG comparison is somewhat accurate even in the limited state of the Beta, because you can grind for custom outfits. The Echochrome suit is fairly easy to get, but the Ice Breaker one really tested my patience. The Ice Breaker pants are sweet though.

See that's where I disagree. I felt like everyone in there was taking it to seriously. Nothing was fun, it was all people doing the running man or standing or sitting... there is no level of interaction that is worth doing because it's not fun. Maybe my problem is this (please don't take this the wrong way) since I have friends in the close vicinity if I want to talk and do "real world" things. I'll call them up and we'll go meet for a drink, or a real game of pool. I feel like home is a place where the socially awkward can get together and not feel awkward about it. However, to the rest of us, it feels forced, plastic and lame... and well, awkward.

That is why I am suggesting things to make it fun for those of us who want to go in and mess around and not take it to seriously... see what I mean?

Gesyma

Spending time posting in a forum thread is apparently entertaining for you, but given a next-gen 3D environment with customizable avatars where you can also converse via text and voice (and listen to music and play bowling, chess and pool), suddenly it's the worst experience ever? Hrm. You have friends in the close vicinity if you want to talk, but again, you're here in the forums, so there's apparently some value in online interaction. I'm in the Beta, and I think it's great. I'm not expecting it to replace real life activities, but I like having a PS3 focused social environment (again like this forum) where I can talk to people in real time, create and join clubs that are of interest to me, and, post-beta, enjoy media like movies along with others online. It's basically like the features of the new XBL, and I would rather have my Home avatar than a silly looking Wii avatar imitation.

Saying that Home is for the socially awkward is like saying COD4 is for those too awkward to join the military (neither of which is necessarily true)... so COD4 is the most horrible game ever created. Or maybe because I don't like or play sports games on my PS3, maybe I should try a demo and then knock it because FIFA has no rocket launchers and therefore it's useless. Haha. I suppose that argument could work.

There's a number of them, but I'm going to go with Folklore.

Great story, great gameplay, beautiful art style, excellent use of the SixAxis motion controls, lots of DLC...I think it's an excellent game.

nyc05

Folklore was one of the best story experiences I've had! It's true--you don't often hear Folklore included in the list of PS3 greats. I'm still wondering about the ending. The ending was incredible, but I still have questions.

I also agree with MGO, although when the MGO-Beta was out, there were so many gamers saying they thought the game was a complete failure. Some people still do, but I've always thought if you actually play MGO like a Metal Gear game, it's perfect.

Home is the best way I've found to network with other PS3 players who have similar interests. I've never made PSN friends so easily. With the clubs function in gear, there's already a vast number of clubs you can search through to match your interests. In a few minutes, I'd already joined a group of PSN gamers who share one of my minority viewpoints. Every club has its own clubhouse with a bulletin board, where everyone can meet up and chat, and then (when the full version is released) we could all jump into a game together.

I also enjoy Home simply for chatting. I like having a 3D world to explore and various activities to do while talking to people. Don't get me wrong--I go out every weekend and meet people, but online chatting also appeals to me because it's a much faster way to meet people who actually have more in common with me.I personally would rather use Home for chatting than any other application. There's no spambots, no suggestive advertisements, and it's easy to use and yet powerful as well (the media sharing elements in the final version will add a lot of value).

And Token, you crack me up. Why did you think Home was supposed to be a game? If you paid attention to the trailers for Home, they made it clear that it was a networking application where you can customize your own virtual space and spend time with friends, and set up group based gaming sessions. I don't understand what people expected Home to be if not what Sony was advertising it to be.

In any case, I don't know why people are complaining because XBL is copying the features of Home... meeting with friends before going into a game and watching movies together... except XBL's version has ultra-lame avatars compared to Home's (not even debatable, lol) and Home is a much more polished product and ultimately more entertaining. So what you're getting with Home are features of the new XBL and extended features, except for free. Why is that lame?
