Yakira Blog

Okay so due to a very good suggestion...

I am going to try to organize: People Submission Day on Saturday, October 29, 2005* In one whole day I'm asking users to pledge to make at least 15 contributions to People Guides. See what you can find to add to guides. Aliases, birthdays, spouses, etc. Make sure that all the main cast in the guides you edit and your favorite shows have information! Find little things here or there. Look around to other pages to see what gets accepted. It's not all about becoming the editor of a person. Just making sure the site is a wealth of information is good, too. And even if you only find a point or two per person remember that will add up in the end to your Level # (#%)! Let's show the staff that the People on this site are important, too! Once they see that users will also contribute to People too they'll let users have access to People Editor Queues. So tell a friend. Direct them here. Get everyone informed about it! *If your time zone isn't EST don't worry about it. Just contribute during your October 29th. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Level 21 (11%) I am going to be looking for some trusted users so if there's anyone who regularly contributes to my shows (like at least 5 contributions a week) but doesn't want to be one, say so here please. :) Have a nice day. :D

Calling all users!

I'm calling all users to contribute to make at least 75% of their contributions to site for People only for a whole week. LisaGansky made a great point in her latest blog about snide and the staff. If we want the staff to spend time working on the People portion of this site we have to show them that it's important to us! So please do what you can to meet this request. It would appear that the system is set up so that you need a ceratin number of reviews and contributions to advance to the next level. I wrote one review yeaterday and I shot up about 50%. Anyway: Level 21 (11%) and Snagglepuss

Points and Trusted Users

For the shows: The West Wing, Grey's Anatomy, Weeds, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, How I Met Your Mother, My Big Fat Obnoxius Boss, Once and Again, Boomtown, Out of Practice, Veronica Mars, Huff, Eve, Joey, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Life on a Stick, Six Feet Under, Unfabulous, Cold Case, Cuts, Dawson's Creek, Ghost Whisperer, Inconceivable, Living Single, Medium, The King of Queens, What I Like About You, The War at Home, Celebrity Poker Showdown, and Home Improvement I have a total of 4790 Show Points. The top scorers were TWW (2750), Grey's (627), Weeds (547), Conan (309), Buffy (111), and Mother (80). I have People Points! Martin Sheen (2), Matthew Perry (16), Dulé Hill (5) and maybe a few others I haven't found. All the points on the board (blog) total up tp 4813 points. Level 20 (67%) Accepted: 1911 Denied: 224 Pending: 88 Total: 2223 And I wrote a pretty good review for the latest episode of Grey's Anatomy. Are the second trusted user slots functioning yet? Also I'm considering asking some people to help me out as second or first trusted users and do you think it's better if I ask them or if they ask me? What's your preference? How do you usually get people to name you as a trusted user? How do you usually pick your trusted users?

I got people points!

I wish they would disply the number of points you have next to your list of shows in your favorites section. And a total somewhere. Anyway, Level 20 (67%)

So to pick up where I left off...

Lol on the "Chinese secret." I forgot to mention that: (clears throat) Alias... IS DEAD TO ME. A dead Vaughn equals a dead show in my heart. I would have mentioned this earlier but since the show is appropriately dead I appropriately forgot. I went to the dentist today to get some cavities filled. I insisted on the white ones. Metal is all extra sensitive and I've had them fall out 2 or 3 times before which is why I was avoiding getting them refilled. It was disrupting my life. I couldn't eat ice cream, hot chocolate, and many other delicious desserts that I readily enjoy. I also had a problem gargling and if any one understands a Buffalo winter they will understand the possibility of your tooth freezing to your cheek in an appropriate and quite painful manner. Also. Dentists are evil. And quite masochistic. I tried to run the spell check but it just went haywire on me. I especially loved the last episode on Grey's Anatomy and will say that it also would have made a great season finale. Level 20 (65%) Just wanted to see if you were paying attention.

Thanks for the Support

...with my familial troubles. School has consumed my very being. I will probably rant about my history class later so consider this sentence fair warning. I actaully got a person entry evaluated for Martin Sheen yesterday but I still don't have the points. Level 20 (63%) I've been on Level 20 for a month. I used to jump levels at least 2 every three days. :( Accepted: 1888 Denied: 223 Pending: 78 Total: 2189 Longest Pending Submissions Awards: Longest Pending Submissions Awards:. (As long as we don't talk about all my people submissions.) Does anybody know who won those contests from last month? If anything I can't figure out how to get back to that section of the site. Directions, anyone?

Sorry I Was Gone Again

My Grandmother died last week and I had to go to the funeral. They didn't have a computer so I couldn't get to the submissions.... Although I did tape the episodes. The West Wing is picking up since Thomas Schamelle became a consultant and Grey's Anatomy is working out great. I still have so catching up to do on Weeds. I hate how FOX has put their shows on hiatus. I've got nothing against baseball but I miss House, Kitchen Confidentalm, Bones, and several other shows. I'm not so much missing The O.C. but I have a slight craving for another episode of Reunion. Anyway too many people acted a fool at the funeral and while they shall remain nameless I will say that I was actaully and truly ashamed to call some of them family and angry that some of them thought they were. I'll try to check in more often. My groom-to-be and I are moving come November and that should put my in a better place to get online everyday. We'll finally be getting high-speed! Anyway looks like the Level % thing went down about 15 minutes ago so I won't be making a report on it. So you guys around. And could someone bump the duplicate actor thread if it's still there?

Update

Over 2100 total submissions. Level 20 (57%) User submissions down. :(

Sorry, guys...

For anyone whose submitted something to my queue in the past week I am currently experiencing technical difficulties with my computer. Sorry for the delay. Level 20 (55%).

A Better Blog For A Less Under Construction World

Okay, so the reason for my recent disappearance was a combination of enrollment in college and my boyfriend proposing to me. Yes we gotten engaged :D. No I don't talk about him much around here but what can I say? I like to keep him all to myself. My new phrase is "You, say that now." I use it as an automatic response to almost everything to annoy people I don't like and those I love the most. (That's just the way I am.) My funniest employment yet of this phrase has been the following: (On my boyfriend's decision to join the military.) Him: I'm not gonna die. Me: You say that now. (If you don't get it you had to be there. If you do anyway then we should hang out sometime.) I was over at TWoP on The West Wing spoiler thread and I noticed two things. 1. Mrs V is leaving! How will I ever get over this. Not only am I going to be missing out on up to the date TWW spoilers but she's going away from us! :( 2. My TV.com TWW guide got mentioned! (Squeee!) Looks like they know we exist after all. If anyone ever wants to find me over there look for (you guessed it) "Yakira." I cannot wait for Sunday. TWW premiere and Grey's Anatomy. I am so reved and ready to go. I can't wait! (Even when I do know what's going to happen next.) Grey's Anatomy was on the front cover of Entertainment Weekly! The thing that displays my reviews in order in still out of wack after a month and a half. Did you see the Emmys? Donald Trump singing in overalls and a straw hat? It was so over the second they announced that Megan Mullally was going to be singing. She doesn't just do M&M commercials people. :) Out of the categories they showed on TV I got 12 right out of 31. That was of course based on things I thought would win not what I wanted to win. As far as I can tell The West Wing did not take home a single award which is down from last year for one award. (Allison Janney for those who don't know but she rocks anyway so it doesn't really count for the show.) If anybody is looking for a specific cause of such shame I have two words for you: John Wells. S. Epatha Merkerson so had it coming after years of hard work on Law & Order. I squeed when Felicity Huffman thanked Aaron Sorkin for casting her in Sports Night. I loved the dedication to the World News Trio and Carson. I wasn't all that surprised when Everybody Loves Raymond beat out Desperate Housewives. I was delighted to hear that Kathryn Joosten had received an Emmy for her guest appearance on Desperate Housewives. (She so rocks in and out of her age bracket.) I found the Emmy's moderately funny. Ellen did a pretty good job. I'm taking classes in History, "College" Algebra, and Political Science. I type "College" because I definitely did this stuff in middle school (junior high, for some of you out there). But the name isn't what baffles me. It's the sheer number of people in this class who are completely dumbfounded about things like the real number system and absolute value. I'm working on testing out. (I should be in Calculus 2). You would not believe how much of the syllabus for my History and PolySci class crosses-over. It's like taking the the same class but with a slightly different perspective. Studying things when the happen and seeing how they affect us now all at the same time. I've studied the same events in a parallel order so many times in these classes over the past 3 weeks that I'm started to wonder itf there's a conspiracy whereby these teachers (from different departments mind you) get together 3 times a week and say oka on Monday we'll talk about Hurricane Katrina, Wednesday will be about Plessy vs. Ferguson, and Friday will be Brown vs. Board of Education and Trent Lott. It's really starting to creep me out. :) Grey's Anatomy Stuff So this is the stuff from the Grey's Anatomy story in Entertainment Weekly. Here's the story: Story, (Creative Description, huh?) Warning: It's got some spoilers. This is a West Wing promotional photo which I believe may be the 6th season DVD cover. It has been noted that it contains an interesting placement of characters... I've been trying to keep up on my submissions but I wouldn't be surprised if some of them had ended up being moderated by the staff. I saw the TV Listings. My opinion?: Ehhhh. I wish it wouldn't mess with the regular show time on the show guide page or at least that it would be optional. Also optional in my opinion should be what shows up in your show listings. There may be shows you love but own on DVD and have no desire to watch on TV anymore but appear in your listing anyway and as a result make the list even longer. Which is my biggest peeve. (Other than the fact that it offers you the same listing 3 times in broadcast, high def, and digital.) The list so SO... FReaKing... LOOOOONGGG. Couldn't they take a note from tvguide.com and make it so that you could view a day at a time? Or maybe restrict the hours that sho up on your screen so that you only get primetime for your area on Monday - Friday and all day Sunday and Saturday? Like a function where you go and say I want my default option to show me 7pm to midnight for weekdays. Scrolling that page is a ***************. (Imagine any word you like to go there). Or at least include internal links. And who would ever want to Print something that long? Especially when you can't use it in a week? At least it's printer-friendly. And why won't it remember my zip code? And that's it for the better blog I promised other than this update on my stats which isn't what an update used to mean for me (at least 100 submissions a day, you know what I'm saying?). Level 20 (37%) Yes, I've been gone long enough for people who got here a month after I did to surpass me. Cow Bell I really don't want to be a Cow Bell anymore. I can't believe Level 47 is still stinkin' blank. I know they've got other top priorities but that's just slackerish and easy to fix. I know I'm late but no Top Ten Contributors anymore? Accepted: 1839 Denied: 220 Pending: 101 Total: 2160 No people submissions moderated. Oldest submission not moderated (other than a person one) from: July 9 for Blind Date and Shipmates (I don't watch them but I was surfing. Please don't judge me! :)) Oh, and this question. (Re: end of the better blog except for the update) Does anyone know if the episode numbering tool is back up? I've got some episodes that belong in the Special/Other category.
