Overview of the Day

(so far anyway...) Bets on Level 50: shatterdaymorn: Mid-September (September 15th midnight Pacific) RoxieVelma: September 25th Yakira: October 4th I think shatterdaymorn is gonna win. My Environmentally Conscious Blog Hurricane Katrina may have been caused by the U.S. energy overconsumption. Think about that... Death by Caffeine A lot of laughs. A little education. Death by Penguin Mints A rendition of "A lot of laughs. A little education." Rantfest 2005 For anybody who missed it. Now with it having been shoved off this page this link makes it easier to access and it's a much shorter profile page around here. They aren't doing level updates or point updates on a regular basis anymore. It's gone random again. Still Level 19 (14%) Maybe this blog will help. I'm dubbing the random page reloading with the term --> RPR Just a note for future reference/readers. Accepted: 1754 Denied: 209 Pending: 132 Total: 2095 I'm sad to announce that Weeds is losing steam. :(

Blue :(

Over 60 submissions rejected In under 12 minutes 95% rejection rate No moderator comments Death by Caffeine isn't even cheering me up... I'm really starting to get sick of getting kicked in the face by TV.com. And I tried to submit this message with the title ":(" and I got this: Error: Topic titles cannot be in all uppercase. Turn off your CAPS LOCK. Rejected. Again. This day is getting sadder and sadder. :( :( :(

So, you do the hokey pokey...

The blog title actually has nothing to do with my blog. I just felt like naming it that since the song has been stuck in my head all week. Although some would argue that that seems to be the general theme of TV.com. Doing a redundant dance of pointless madness... According to my Primetime Schedule this is how I rate the networks: 1. Fox, 2. NBC, 3. ABC, 4. The WB, 5. CBS, 6. UPN Link to Rantfest 2005 I've commented back in both of the previous two blogs. August 28/29, 2005 Sometime in the midnight hours: Level 17 (37%) Good Fun!: Death by Caffeine Death by Penguin Mints If you want spoilers for a show PM me. I can find detailed ones for most. Sometimes just casting info. For example I know what's going on in the first 5 episodes of The West Wing this season, I know who's at Veronica's door, I know how Addison and Meredith hash it out, and I know of a big revelation on Law & Order: SVU. I've got less, but yes yes still a little, on cable shows, too. Make sure to tell me anything you DON'T want to know. Bets on Level 50: shatterdaymorn: Mid-September (September 15th midnight Pacific) RoxieVelma: September 25th Yakira: October 4th Still haven't heard anything from the staff on the point total problem and complaints have been being filed for since last weekend. (Bad grammar I know but I couldn't figure out how to get around it and since it's my blog I don't really care that much.) The random page reloading is really starting to Tick Me Off.... Today's selection for further education: It is nothing if not noticable that oil prices are at an all time high within the United States. At this point many options are being considered to solve such problems but one solution that you will notice is that creating or utilizing alternative energy sources is something that seems to be at the bottom of President George W. Bush's list. True he has recently passed legislation that requires higher energy standards for motor vehicles but it only applies to some of them and it doesn't raise the standard significantly. The major reason that the United States has not had the overwhelming legislation involving energy standards that you think they would in the face of such an energy crisis is due to the fact that motor vehicle companies help pay to put government officials in office. Add to that an American public in denial and soccer moms and conservatives alike who don't want to give up their gas-guzzlers and you only have a small skope of the problem. A lot of people don't want energy-efficient hybrid cars because they "look ugly" and please don't be so surprised about that in a country that bases most of its values on materialism. The American mentality in terms of oil is all about the here and now and has no reflection about the tomorrow and the later.       To get people thinking about the future here are some statistics. Heating your home in a snowy area of the U.S. is expected to rise at least 25% in cost this winter. It should be mentioned that 30% of U.S. oil comes from the Gulf of Mexico and since that is about to be hit with Hurricane Katrina it can only be hoped that the nation will come to grips with a situation that is all too real. Gas is currently at an average of $2.6273 [2.13915 Euro] for self-serve (up 12.62 cents [0.10275 Euro] from two weeks ago) and today oil has exceeded $70 [56.99397 Euro] a barrel for an all-time high in the United States. Prices for heating homes later this year in the UK are expected to be on an all-time high also.       There's a desire to drill in Alaska but, and I know I say this blatently, that is a stupid idea. We don't even know if there's oil there and even if there is it's gonna run out to. It's time for the country to invest in the newest forms of technology in motor vehicles as we have everywhere else. We need to come to terms with the fact that OIL IS NOT A RENEWABLE RESOURCE. Once it's gone, it's gone. And in the meantime we're destroing the earth and even more importantly our children's future, economically and geologically, just to drive bigger, shiner vehicles. So here's my recommendation: I think everyone should truly educate themselves on the subject instead of just suffering through it and hoping that it will change. 1. Watch Captain Planet and the Planeteers. (If you can't fnd much info on it in the episode guide know that it comes on in syndication and that the theme song in the Show Summary will give you a good idea of what the show is about. IMO, it's better than Power Rangers and just so you know it came out first. I watched them both when I was younger but these days I'll get into Captain Planet while I find Power Rangers too cheesy and annoying especially with all the spin-offs.) 2. Watch The West Wing episode from Season 3 entitled The U.S. Poet Laureate. (It isn't the best in the series but it's absoultely on topic. If you want me to send you the relevant dialogue just PM me.) 3. Watch/Read the news. Research: Gas Price Records Gas Price Recods Conversion Tools The 30% statistic came from abcnews.com ************************************************************************ ************************************************************************ Stuff from This Week with George Steph-ah-nop-poll-liss: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Weekends at the D.L.: D.L. Hughley: President Bush said that anti-war protestors like Cindy Sheehan are advocating a policy that weakens the United States. Let me tell you what weakens that United States: The most powerful man on the planet scared of meeting with a middle-aged white woman. That is what weakens this country. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Daily Show with Jon Stewart: Stewart: The president is launching a brand-new defensive over Iraq, hitting the road in response to criticism on the weekend's news talk shows from the usual band of peaceniks — like Nebraska Republican Sen. Chuck Hagel. Sen. Chuck Hagel, R-Neb., Aug. 21, on ABC News' "This Week": Any measure and any standard you apply to this, we're not winning. Now what's the definition of not winning? I think if you could just, for example, say that you could secure the road from the Baghdad airport to downtown Baghdad. … Stewart: Oh my God. We've gone from promising to democratize the Middle East to hoping to secure a quick ride the airport. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Real Time with Bill Maher: Maher: Hurricane Katrina looked like it was bad in Florida. The other day, law enforcement officials went around telling residents to stay in their homes, and black people thought it was Election Day.

1500 Accepted Submissions!

Accepted: 1500 Rejected: 125 Pending: 241 Total: 1866 Lame enough it was fixing a typo. Rantfest Feedback: I've commented on all comments for the "Rantfest 2005" blog. The comment is located among the other comments for the blog. Please go check it out. I'd love more feedback. :D I actually had to cut the rantfest down as it was 22019 characters and the limit was 20000. Nothing got lost though. Any other takers? ...on bets for when the first person reaches Level 50? So far we've got: shatterdaymorn: Mid-September (September 15th Midnight) Yakira: October 4th Already posted but for newcommers to my blog (or those who don't look at the old ones...) I believe that editors should be classified in this way: MIA: "TV.com? Who the what now? I'm an Editor? What's that?" Lazy: Present and accounted for but not moderating submissions. Corrupt: Here and actively moderating but stealing other peoples submissions. Active: Here and actively, fairly, and correctly doing their job Emblem-Worthy: Process information fairly and accurately and within 48 hours unless on legitimate vacation. Always gives comments to inform users of problems with submissions instead of just rejecting them. Other Stuff: I got the queue for Grey's Anatomy today. I had submitted 99 things and I had 50 submission PMs. I went into my queue and there was only one thing their and it wasn't submitted by me. I went looking around the guide and it appears that nearly everything I had submitted was approved but my point count was not as high as it should be. When I looked at my Submission Status it said that eveything had been approved. What happened to the other submissions/PMs? Any ideas? I wish they'd make the window bigger for moderating PMs and submitting blogs. When things get to high capacity it's hard to see what's going on. Broadcast Primetime 2005 Viewing Schedule: (Note: This is Eastern Standard Time) Subject to change in a later blog after I see season/series premieres. Yay! :) And I think the points update live now. So that when you submit something and it gets accepted your score on the contributor page goes up up within the hour.

Rantfest 2005

As Promised. Warning: This is long. Don't read unless ready. I'm talking bathroom trip and a TV dinner. If the following doesn't sound logical or you see any tyops just repeat this montra: "These are rants of rage. Rage doesn't led to logic. Rage leads to spouting anger as you go." Get it? Got it? Good. Now go... Ahead and Read... Who stole the cookie from the cookie jar? (Staff reaching in my queue) why? make the queue button appear in the forums make the counter work staff approved a whole bunch of incorrect info from my queue i think they just approve it all and don't look at it is the person in charge of family guy the person reaching in my queue? heard lots about family guy guide just let anything in the guide don't even bother to look i do my job, i wish they'd do theirs and let me do mine and i bet that later someone on the staff is gonna show up and be all (why do you have all this crap in your guide?) all this don't want people to "game the system" but approving incorrect submissions ensures that someone else can "game the system" by putting everything back AS IT ALREADY WAS or by submitting corrections this is not pizza delivery check my queue at least 15 times a day no summer job tells new users that their information doesn't have to be correct because there is a 95% chance it will get approved anyway staff is helping people game the system this is a total load It's okay when the staff just lets junk into the guide but it's not okay when the users (who they automatically assume aren't not responsible and don't even get paid to do this like they do which should make them more resposible) let junk into the guide? And if I just rejected everything the staff would reprimand me. And they'd reprimand me for just approving things! Neither of my shows are in the top 25 (Highest Rated or Most Popular) and Weeds has only appeared on the What's On Tonight column twice since I showed up. When they go into my queue they aren't picking shows they're just approving whatever's in there. I think they're just doing it to piss us off. And the new Official FAQ claims that most submissions are processed within a week. What they mean is that they're holding editors to the standard of one week before they threaten to take away their guide. But how can they set a standard for us and not live up to it themselves? 2 months old submissions still in the queue of doom? Can you say... hypocrite? I received about 15 submissions today/yesterday. A user was trying to correct the format of the quotes in my guide on the basis that the Official FAQ stated that they should be inside the bold tags. I went to the FAQ and this is in fact what it said. I created a thread for snide to read because the information on the quote submission form says it should go outside. In the meantime I requested that no one moderate the submissions in my queue until I had resolved the situation. Waited. Snide repsonded. Changed it to colon outside. I went to reject the submissions. They had already been approved. I SPENT AN HOUR FINDING AND FIXING AND PUTTING THEM BACK THE WAY THEY WERE! Just in case I wasn't making it clear: A note to the staff: You may think that sped up processing of editor owned queues would make people happy but it doesn't. And on top of that it screws up the site and makes us all look bad. If you think you're making the lives of editors everywhere easier, you're not! Being forced to search through hundreds of pages to find your screw ups does not make our lives easier. It isn't worth the extra points. They are our guides. And we earned the right to edit them. Didn't you yourselves say that that was what the whole 80 point minimum was about? If nothing else at least send us a notification about your screw-up (and yes I'm assuming that on the basis that that happens to be my only experience with this situtation.) You own the site, but you can't do this without us. Quit pissing us off! Read My response is that 99% of the time the things they approve are complete and total *. I have infomation in my guides weeks before it airs. ....(fuming with rage).... I smell something and it stinks something horrible... Position of the Retire Editor button (so easy to click on accidentally) (i hope it asks you twice before it okays your decision) (there should be a way for an editor to take back a guide if they want to - just because you don't want the show now doesn't mean you never ever will again) The Fifo Movement May not join, but I'm listening. I just don't know. I think that all the submissions before July 4 should be handled on the same basis as new and returning shows. I advicate this on the premise that those who submitted information first should not be rejected just because their submissions will be seen last due to a low level (as everyone would have had when the site started out). At the same time getting new and returning shows editors is important also. Sepetember is almost here! I made the cutoff July 4 because I would assume a dip in submissions on that day as it is an American holiday and this is American-based website. (I am American but I don't feel that users from other places should be ignored or never catered to. Let's call this my rant on that subject.) Also the July 4 cutoff date would include the 1st month of submissions to tv.com after it switched over from tvtome in the 1st week of June. Still No Editor For Buffy But somebody has been approving submissions. I got my first two submissions to the guide approved and those where from July 9 If Emily and Nicolas don't work it out... ...I'm gonna be very angry. And seriously the storyline on GH has gotten demently twisted. I skipped it yesterday in favor of a taped episode of Weeds that I watched with my boyfriend. He loves it as much as I do. But I think maybe for slightly different reasons. Not the Church Lady Type I want to get to the next level. The picture kinda creeps me out. Staff Needs To Get Their Act Together - not getting premiering shows editors - messing with shows that already have editors - haven't fixed the the problem with the second highest top contributor trusted user bug that prevents them from having trusted user priviligages - can't even get clear about colon inside or outside of the bold tags - retired editors yay! can't name new editors boo! - actor system not up yet (AFTER 3 MONTHS!) - still no emblem for level 47 and people are fast approaching level 50... - needs to create a way to retract or edit pending submissions (good for killing the queue and good for keeping our rejection numbers down. also the best way to let users take a crack at the big queue) Not A Rant: But... I'm taking bets on when the first user reaches level 50. I'm gonna go with October 4th, 2005. Any takers? Staff Needs A Way To Report Lazy/MIA Editors I coined the term MIA editor and yes I'm upset that I won't ever get real credit for it (jus like jroberthaga won't get credit for WSoD) and yes I already brought it up in another blog. The Leveling Delay (What was with that?) As RoxieVelma pretty much said: that must be some cap they got going there Ok, Now Back-To-School Department Store Commercials Are Starting To Make Me Naucious... But, I guess once you go black you can't go back... - Target (We're Back At SCHOOL...) - JCPenney (You can go with...) Weeds Review So Far "You Can't Miss The Bear" 9.9 (Need another hit now!) "Free Goat" 6.5 (Didn't meet my expectations from first episode. Result: Inflated minus rating score) "Good Sh#t Lollipop" 9.3 (Addictive) IMO, Worse than WSoD At least lately. The page reloads instead of taking you to where you are trying to go. Been happening for 2 days now. WSoD sucks, too. Ok, Not Like This Is New But It Never Happened To Me B4 I had four things rejected because the editor said they were not a significant improvement. Huh? I was editting 4 show summaries for typos like misspelled character names and changing "hes" to "he's" and including punctuation. Not a significant improvement? Not only was it an improvement but since when did we start rejecting submissions based on significance? A typo is a typo! If you see it you're allowed to fix it. If the editor won't fix it it's just bad form! Submissions should be rejected because they're incorrect not because the editor doesn't give a damn about grammar! I'm glad they got to my submissions with expediency but I can't help but feel that this editor is somehow "mismanaging" their guide. Anybody else have an opinion? I better hear about Toby's kids this season Where'd they go? Why don't we hear about them? They had a subplost all to themselves! If Sorkin can/does/has-the-abiliity-to undo the damage of the John Wells era I will pronouce him a god and create a religion surrounding it. Just saying. Either C.J. can play basketball of she can't Think of doing recaps for "Bartlet For America" and "Faith Based Inititive" (and yes the latter episode is missing punctuation, blame JW). Season 3 Episode 10 Season 6 Episode 10 So I'm watching GMA... And they're looking for this record producer. He's disappeared. The interviewer asks what's going on the woman responds. "Well we're holding up. Most of us are Christians, so we're praying." People from other religions don't pray? Or is it that you can't pray unless the majority of the people are Christians? The code for this page is askew. Let's go with a classic: Click Here. The black column is italicized. It irks me and my OCD. I'd say I had a little OCD but there is no such thing. "Yes" and "Sure, Why Not?" Are Not The Same Thing If you want to know why PM me. Warning: Explicit Thought Content. Waiting for MTV3 (If they don't already have it.) Because MTV and MTV2 have nothing to do with music anymore. Why do they even call it MUSIC television anymore? And seriously... Real World FIFTEEN?!?!? Why? WHy? WHY? Timestamps in My Queue They aren't adjusted for time zone. I don't know if somebody sent something 3 hours ago or if they sent it from the West Coast. But since they edit things in my queue in LESS THAN 15 MINUTES AFTER THEY ARRIVE THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm gonna take a shot and say it's the latter. What's On Tonight This column on the homepage has several problems as it is not timezone or country specific. But even if I forgive that there's the fact that the when they tell you what network it's gonna be on it's got problems. It just assumes that when an episode airs it will be shown on the network that aired the last episode. When Battlestar Galactica aired that Saturday on NBC it said it was coming on on the Sci-Fi. When Veronica Mars aired Fridays on CBS it said that it was airing on UPN. If nothing else I think they should base that list on your highest rated shows. Not what they think is good. Or maybe make it an option. Can't Specify Network For Each Season A shows like Buffy problem. Got Level 1 Submission Approved ...for Buffy the Vampire Slayer. - Me ( waging a flag of "joy"): Yay. Color Me Enthusiastic. -someone got the queue? -someone became editor but i just can't see them on the top contributors list? -next highest person on top contributor list has blocked profile -I think someone ("editor" if not staff) approved them all just to clear the queue -Incorrect info all over the place When you level up the index on your submissions in any queue should also. Re: above Updates -number always different from pageclick to pageclick -same info shows up 4 times in one day (usually the sources are exactly the same) -spoilers all over the place (Six Feet Under debacle) -will take you to the wrong news article (take you to something for 5 days ago) -no way to get to the new news article I want to be able to separate my forums based on spoilers and nation. Just good form. But Snide said... Snide said that there was a bug that was giving points to users who weren't contributing anything to the site. But a few weeks ago he advertised the fact that you get points for doing nothing... I Want Lazy/MIA Editors removed... But from what I can tell the staff is only giving people a week to be supposedly MIA. And then they retire you. And from what I can tell you can't get your editor status back. One week? I would give them at least 2 and a half. And that during the season! Also users like mgreen789 are getting threatened! They are being told to process the submissions in their queue because they have been there for over a week (what we're not allowed vacations anymore, like the ones the staff take on the weekends) of have you're guide taken away. But there's nothing in the queue. This is a result of the phantom editor queue number bug. And if nothing else you would figure that if they can reach into our queues and take stuff out that they would either approve the submissions themselves or at least realize that there aren't any submissions there! But now I don't and it upsets me. I liked to watch the news. One day I watched my local news and the stories were about terrorists and baby killers and people getting shot at in the ghetto. I turned to the Canadian station and the stories were about new speed bumps at the plaza and universal health care. I would pretend that I lived in Canada. Like I pretend that Bartlet is the President. (You can't tell me different. Bush who? It was Bush Senior then Clinton then Bartlet. I do not know this George W that you speak of.) There is something wrong with the 17th page of my queue (at this time I have 89 pages and this is more of a note for me that the rest of you) anyway it makes the page appear like this... Late Night With Conan The contributors page is still screwed up and you can't submit to certain season because they don't exist. There are suck-ups and we all know it and it is noticable that the suck-ups have less than 5% of their stuff pending while the rest of us are hoping to get picked in the "lottery." There is one user who I actually don't like myself because they post just for the heck of it and to take up space. They have not gained editorship of anything so far and I bet you it's because the staff can't stand them either. I'm not surprised that I haven't gotten any staff attention for my Person Guides: Duplicates and Other Issues thread. I speak out against the staff regularly. Am I suggesting favortism on behalf of the staff? Damn straight. We Submit In Fear. I wouldn't be surprised if any users are afraid to comment on this post. It will only go towards proving this point: People are afraid of being blacklisted so they don't speak up about how the staff is screwing up. Never Fear. The movement is gaining support from respected and well known users. The staff knows it's coming. And the PR people can't shut us up. (Wait for the irony... ) Stay Awake and Stay Tuned people (Wait for it...not that "stay tuned" wasn't... Oh, nevermind): The revolution will not be televised. This concludes Rantfest 2005. We now return you to your regularly scheduled website surfing.

Not much to say right now...

Will publish rant about several things later. Meanwhile... Level 15 (23%) > (25%) > (27%) > (62%) although I could almost swear it said 67% earlier today. Come back for the rants. They'll be real and they'll be spectacular!

I just got yelled at by a staff member who shall remain nameless. Apparently they were angry at me for submitting episodes that were already in the episode guides. But I wasn't doing that! I got 3 different letters from them ccomplaining about this activity. My guess is that the submissions for a single show aren't all handled by the same person/staff member and some other staff member evaluated someone else's submissions (probably someone with a higher level) before mine got checked. Either way it made me really depressed. I practically got called stupid. They asked me if I bothered to check the guide before I submitted new info. This is the PM i sent as a reply:
Whenever I submit (Everytime I submit) an episode title I search for the guide if it's not listed under my favorite shows. Once I arrive on the Summary page I click on the Episodes tab. The I go to the last season if there's more than one. If the title I have to submit isn't listed I then record the lifetime episode number and airdate of the last episode in a word processing document. Then I click on the Contribute button. Then I click on Add A New Episode. Then I enter the new information. Episode Title: "Whatever It Happens To Be" Episode Summary: "Coming Soon..." Episode Recap: (left blank) Season: #? Episode Lifetime Number: Whatever it should be according to the last episode and what number it was in the season and the season episode number of the episode I'm adding. Episode Season Number: Whatever I'm told by the source. If it doesn't say I don't bother trying to submit it. Production Code: However the previous episodes are set up, what the source tells me, or left blank if the guide doesn't use them AirDate: Check box for unaired if that's what's been done to the previous episodes, Add a week onto the last episode's airdate after I check to make sure with another source that the show is "airing" on the correct day of the week according to the guide, left blank/left at 1/1/2006 if that's what's done in that guide. Like I said before I really really really don't know what your're talking about. Next time I try to submit a new episode I'll include screen shots in the comments to prove it wasn't there when I went to submit it. I hope that solves the problem even though it doesn't solve my confusion as I didn't do what you said I did. Please stop getting angry at me when I don't even know what you're talking about. I will be sure to provide adequate proff of an episode's absence everytime I submit a new episode along with the sources I use to add the new episode.

I did all that hard work and for what? To get insulted? Beyond that it seems that the staff does not have uniform standards for submissions. I heard in the forums that people were getting submissions rejected on the basis of whether or not they placed the colon inside or outside the bold tags for quotes. But the even worse point is that some staff members were rejecting quotes for colons being outside and some were rejecting quotes for colons being inside. In this case tha staff member came down on me for not including air dates and production numbers. It's been stated by users, mods, and staff alike that production numbers are optional and air dates are different for submissions from guide to guide. Like I said above some don't even put an air date until the episode airs or leave it 1/1/2006. I follow what I see in the guide. Anyway I just needed to vent. I was left feeling really sad and depressed after a fight with my boyfriend and then I came home to this. Sidenotes: 1. Did work on the first two episodes of Weeds and handed off a little work to RoxieVelma for The West Wing. 2. The second episode of Weeds did not rock the way the first one did. But I heard from over 10 non-TV.com reviews that it gets better. 3. Got to read more spoliers from the latest TWW episode. Spoilers would have cheered me up but I could tell that JW was writing the scenes. 4. Level Update August 16th, 2005: Level 14 (12)% August 17th, 2005: Level 14 (69)% 5. Took a break from the forums. The thread I was running started to stress mme out. I apologize to MikeBriggs or anyone else if they were offended by any of my posts in there. Either way I plan to start a new thread that will chronicle previous research. It'll probably be next week. 6. On a happier note stuff from the TWoP site: The 2004-2005 Tubey Awards Results Part 1: Memorable Moments and Thingees Part 2: Characters and Actors Part 3: The Montgomery Burns Awards for Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Excellence Pt. 1 Part 4: The Montgomery Burns Awards for Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Excellence Pt. 2 Part 5: The Biggies Part 6: The TWoP Staff Picks Part 7: TWoP Staff Year In Review Part 8: TWoP Staff's Special Achievement Awards 7. Also from televisonwithoutpity.com this selection goes to the tune of Britney Spears' "Slave" (aka "I'm A Slave For You") "Britney and Kevin: Chaotic - All you people look at this like it's a TV show / Well, did you ever think it'd be this bad, that it would so completely blow? / Network saying, "Little girl, don't make a Season Two." / My albums bomb, no movie offers, what now can I do? / Edit, edit, edit, edit (WHOOOA) / Edit, edit, edit, edit (WHOOOOOA) (Can you fix it?) / Edit, edit, edit, edit (OOOHHHH) (This looks bad) / I know I may come off secure, I may come off calm / But I need your love, need the approval I don't get from my mom / What will you like? What will you buy? What the hell, who knows? / All I know is I clock dollars when you come to my shows / I'm a slave for cash / I'm totally tripping; I so hate Jessica Simpson / I'm a slave for cash / I am annoyed, yeah; K-Fed's unemployed, yeah…"

Other stuff and randomness...

Points and Level Update: As of Sunday, August 14th, 2005 at 6:30pm Level 13 (59%) no change, but it's the weekend Accepted: 1090 Denied: 86 Pending: 158 Total: 1334 Stuff: Click and scroll down for a list of Some of the Completely or Almost Empty Episode Guides for The West Wing. Think easier point opportunities. Done with basic overhaul for The West Wing and Weeds conrtibution guides. They both are color themed to go with their appropriate shows. (Kinda pretty! :)) Although if you think about it the color scheme of this website is perfect for The West Wing already. Now I just have to fix the references in the Weeds guide so that they are more catered toward the show. Upcoming Projects: Writing reviews for some of The West Wing episodes. Adding in Nielson ratings for both guides. Thoughts: I think that I am gonna uphold a policy not to do show reviews for the basic fact of not wanting contributors for that show to just try to get on my good side based on what they read in some 200 word entry. Plus I can tell that the shows I edit will be everchanging (at least over the next season) and I kinda feel that show reviews should be done when a show ends so that you can review it in total. I wish that TV.com had diambiguation pages the way that Wikipedia does. It would make finding things so much easier. I already mentioned this in RoxieVelma's thread but I feel kinda let down knowing that I'll never receive any real credit for coining the term MIA Editor. It'd be easier if the hadn't closed the bored where I had initially created it but alas, all I can do is post excerpts. Maybe if you get here soon enough you'll be able to view the other thread... On the TV Tome Questions Board "Editor On Hiatus/Editor MIA Syndrome" 1. 7/19/2005 1:21am Yakira Shows getting editors isn't always a good thing... A lot of people have been complaining that their submissions have not been processed and I'm just wondering how many of these submissions are to show with editors. I'm asking because this is a separate problem from the staff backlog. Many people are complaining that they didn't get to retain editorship of their shows and a lot of editors who did are starting to make those who didn't look bad. If I've submitted something to a show or person without an editor I don't expect anyone to review any time in the next 3 weeks. But I've submitted tons of info to shows with editors to no avail. There are a lot of editors who are not doing their jobs. I was just wondering about the other people who have filled complaints in topics like "Accepted/Denied/Ignored." Are you waiting for the staff or are you waiting for an Editor whose gone MIA? I would like to gratefully say that this has not been my experience with all the shows/people I submit to. With DennisKytassari and GeorgeFergus I haven't had to wait more than 3 days to get my submissions processed. 2. 7/19/2005 1:26am FandeRocko yeah, they should have a regulation system for editors, like if they don't process any of stuff for the show after a certain amount of time, they lose their job. 8. 7/19/2005 2:47am Yakira How would you suggest notifying some of the people whose profiles show no signs of activity over the past 3 weeks? Has anyone had any submissions approved for any of these show? I was just wondering because they all belong to the same editor and I've contributed to several of them and if they just haven't gotten around to me then that's one thing. But if they've abandoned the site then 100+ shows have a problem... George & Leo, Dear John, Cybill, Becker, Smart Guy, Growing Pains, Will & Grace, Boy Meets World, Doogie Howser, M.D., Conrad Bloom, Caroline in the City, 3rd Rock from the Sun, Dharma & Greg, The King of Queens, Titus, The Jamie Foxx Show, The Steve Harvey Show, For Your Love, The Hughleys, Booker, Guys Like Us, Martin, Barney Miller, Evening Shade, Life with Roger, All-American Girl, Blossom, Family Matters, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, The John Larroquette Show, Coach, Designing Women, Cosby, Love & War, My Two Dads, Suddenly Susan, Kate & Allie, Room for Two, Thunder Alley, Hangin' with Mr. Cooper, I'm Dickens--He's Fenster, Pete and Gladys, House Calls, Kirk, The Sinbad Show, The Real McCoys, Harry and the Hendersons, Brotherly Love, Amen, Archie Bunker's Place, Homefront, The George Carlin Show, It's Like, You Know..., Nick Freno: Licensed Teacher, My Wife and Kids, Bronco, The Parent 'Hood, Sister, Sister, The Naked Truth, Stoney Burke, Head of the Class, Getting By, Ladies Man, Malcolm & Eddie, The Young Riders, Mr. Rhodes, Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C., Mayberry R.F.D., Love, Sidney, Minor Adjustments, Brother's Keeper, Dave's World, Getting Personal, The Rifleman, Roc, Bakersfield, P.D., The Jack Benny Program, Equal Justice, The Jeff Foxworthy Show, The High Chaparral, Pointman, The Bob Cummings Show, Sparks, 77 Sunset Strip, Bourbon Street Beat, The Wayans Bros., The Paul Lynde Show, Me and the Boys, Private Benjamin, Too Something, We Got It Made, Hello, Larry, Homeboys in Outer Space, Alright Already, The Guns of Will Sonnett, Queer as Folk, Room For One More, Banyon, Nichols, Hope and Gloria, Gabriel's Fire, The Tom Show, Mr. Novak, Hallmark Hall Of Fame, Westinghouse Desilu Playhouse, Sugarfoot, The Loner, George Lopez, DEA, The Rat Patrol, Father of the Bride, The Mind of the Married Man, Jigsaw John, Johnny Staccato, Mr. Roberts, Circus Boy, Father Murphy, Screen Director's Playhouse, Birds of a Feather, Three for the Road, Home to Roost, Island Son, The Mississippi, Lenny, Shades of L.A., Mr. Peepers, Linda Green, Café Americain, Enos, Sorry!, George and the Dragon, No Time for Sergeants, Date with the Angels, Please Sir, Comedy Playhouse, No Place Like Home (1983), Fresh Fields, Navy Log, Boyd QC, Sykes and a..., Maybury, Behind Closed Doors, Oh, Doctor Beeching!, The Case of the Dangerous Robin Maybe they should make it so that not only do you have to have at least 80 points and be the highest contributor for a show but you also have to be at least level 5. If they aren't going to let editor under level 5 see their queues why give them the title? Everyone will have to wait until the editor gets up to level 5 and in the meantime the guide will never be improved. 14. 7/19/2005 10:05am Yakira Although I am not an editor myself I have come to realize that many editors do not know that they are editors. But what do you do when someone has attained editorship of a guide, appointed no trusted users, and decided not to ever again come back to site? Will tv.com create a solution for this? I'm sure that if they did the backlog would die down in yet another way along with all the other suggestions that have been made in other threads and the actions the staff has already taken. 15. 7/19/2005 10:05am FuManchu-tvt TV.com is set up specifically around absent or “do nothing” Editors. As I said above, submittals go to the Mods first. The information they approve goes DIRECTLY to the guides. For Editors above level 4 who are absent or “do nothing” Editors (I doubt they exist), I assume the submittals fall to the Mods after a short period in the Editor’s queue. Again, the submittals approved by the Mods would go STRAIGHT to the guides. Shows with absent or “do nothing” Editors would just lack someone to correct spelling errors and the deletion of incorrectly approved submittals (don’t even get me started on this one). Is this not clear? Maybe I am missing something.
