Between past sales and humble bundle deals, it didn't find anything during the sale. Didn't buy a single thing and made money selling the summer cards I got from voting :)

@buccomatic @diabolik_023 I disagree. Like many, I have been patiently awaiting the release of Episode 3 / HL3, however I won't buy a console for a single game or any exclusivity.

To make it exclusive, is to go against every intention Valve has demonstrated about the Steam Machine being open to mod/hack etc.

@hata @Ravenlock_2112 Only thing worse than Origin is Battlelog...

I have yet to make any purchase on Origin since I bought a retail copy of BF3, any games I have are from Humble bundle sales.

@brainiac1988 Anyone PC gamer could likely tell the difference between 30fps, 60fps and some even 120fps.

Once you've played at those high frame rates, you will easily tell the difference between 30fps (which will definitely feel choppy to an experienced viewer.

@Amgadashrafshra Except that they left us with a cliffhanger that was Episode 2, and Valve said they thought the idea of episodic gaming would allow them to complete the final 3 episodes and deliver content within a shorter span than making an outright full sequel.

1 year in between episode 1 and 2, now 6 years and counting between episode 2 and possibly episode 3/ HL3.

It took Valve 6 years to make HL2 since HL1. People are getting inpatient.

@AdderD @SurfaceNerd Sound cards do make a difference for the audiophiles out there.

For general computing or gaming, you don't really need a dedicated soundcard, but anyone that has high quality speakers or headphones know the difference between onboard sound and a dedicated soundcard.

This is why I've stopped buying new games on day one. When I know its going to cost $80+ to get the full game experience.

People may argue the "business aspect" that the developers have already completed the game and are working on extra content to earn more money, but I'd rather enjoy the base game and see an actual worthwhile expansion that gives you more content. Game expansions (from the early 2000's, before DLC became mainstream offered more content. DLC now are mostly cosmetics (character/weapon skins, and map packs)

I'm going to once again wait for reviews (and likely the Steam winter sale) before buying any new games.

@Busta Next-gen consoles were designed to be a 10 year platform.

In 3-4 years time, 4K monitors will be just as affordable as current 1440p monitors ($400-600) and processing power will be more than enough to handle them.

The people who spend 2-3K on gaming rigs are extreme enthusiasts (who make up < 1-5% of all PC gamers). AMD's new R9 290X has 5 Teraflops of processing power (almost 3x that of the upcoming consoles). In three years time, mid range($200-300) GPUs will have that same amount of processing power and be more than adequate to drive 4K.

@rarson @YoungCardinal I've seen some videos on 8.1 and I'm not entirely convinced they have improved it to my liking (personal preference btw). Sure, boot to desktop is now there, but the start menu is still a simple physical button now on the taskbar that serves the exact same purpose as hovering over the bottom left corner and clicking.

I will wait for reviews and see how it is in the official release, but I'm still sticking to Windows 7 for the foreseeable future.

You have no idea how hard it is to teach/explain to a non-tech savvy person how to use Windows 8.
