@HIT3kNology In public, maybe not. But in your own home, you should have the right to privacy. There is a big difference between posting what you are doing on Facebook, and visiting webpages, as opposed to sitting in your living room playing games or watching tv.
If a nasty untrue rumor was spread about you in high school, I am sure you did everything you could to dispel that notion as quickly as possible. And that only has to do with your reputation. They are dealing with a multi-million dollar investment, and the best they can do is say, "We will explain the details later." That leads me to believe that the rumors aren't really rumors at this point.
@jmace1 I agree, but I think the problem they have with that is, that the rumors are true, and they are backpedaling to find a solution that doesn't anger people.
You know you stubbed your toe big time if you have to do this much damage control. I don't know if the damage is repairable at this point. If there were things that could be said to reassure gamers, it would have been said already. I think there are MS execs trying to figure out how to stop the fallout without changing the technology right now, because as it stands now, they are facing some serious issues.
@nmaxfield @DarkSunless @ggregd Apparently they do, otherwise there would be no need for facial and voice recognition software when it comes to playing M+ games etc.
@ggregd When it comes to national security, or police/federal investigations, I bet that they can demand user account info even if set to private for Facebook, Xbox1, you name it. But, as long as you aren't doing anything illegal, you should have nothing to worry about. I still have little trust in Facebook and many other websites when it comes to keeping info and data collection secret. I don't even like logging in to other sites with Facebook/Google/Yahoo/Twitter because it makes it too easy for someone to do shady things with your info.
@pspearman @JoshDPU @ArabrockermanX But there is an inherent difference between things you click on, and websites you view, as opposed to what you are doing in your living room.
