I never even considered paying for live with the original Xbox back in 2001. I just never saw the value. It was fun to hook up 4 Xboxs with an ethernet hub and play 16 player, but paying to go online just never made sense to me.
@Chaos_Dante_456 @xsonicchaos @StevenDaReal18 Which is why I left consoles in the Dark Ages for PC gaming about 6 years ago. There is no extra cost for online connectivity, great sales on digital releases, and better graphics. I say, save that money you would have used on Plus/Gold, and put it toward building a gaming PC.
@xsonicchaos @StevenDaReal18 Well, if you paid to get Plus, they aren't exactly free. Smoke and mirrors. Those that didn't PAY for plus, don't get it, so therefore it isn't free.
@flammable_zeus He probably did that intentionally. The second and 3rd paragraph also have it typed that way. The title will probably look like that when it is on the box cover, and that is probably why it is being typed like that.
@Maias227 Yeah, the people that buy the new ones don't bother playing the old ones anymore, but those that don't feel the need to buy a new sports game every year, still do. Some games allow you to import new rosters and draft classes anyway. NBA2k11 and 12 have mods that allow you to import new rosters on PC.
@Nezzticle @vaibhavp Having idle servers that can be used for more popular games makes sense, but shutting down servers that people are using is a bit harsh. They could have at the very least, taken an average daily user count, and kept enough servers up to accommodate that, but pulling the plug completely doesn't seem like the best PR move.
@razgriz_101 Counter Strike Source still has servers up and running (2006). I bet the first CS does too. Yes I know EA has way more titles than Valve, but they should also have way more servers as well. Not everyone buys 10 (insert title here) games a decade. Some are happy with 1, and they will play it for several years.
I would understand cutting back on servers, but shutting down support altogether for games that are only 1.5-2 years old? That is pretty brutal. Obviously they are trying to push those users to buy the newer games, but they will never admit that.
@jedicommand7 I am sure some people buy each year's release, but I sure don't. I usually buy one of each sports game that I enjoy for each gen. I don't need a shelf full of 6 soccer games, and 6 football games. That would take up all of my COD and Assassins Creed shelf spots! LOL.
