So, they have a choice between 1080p and locking 30 fps(not enough power for 60fps), but they of course choose 4k at -let me guess the exact same headache inducing 15-25 fps.

This is exactly why I cancelled my pre-order! No regrets.

Brick and mortar want 2 things. A. To get people in the building so, they will buy more stuff.B. to get stuff off their shelves that is old or overstocked.

For us digital buyers, we don't have that benefit. Even, a 50gb game takes up less space that a fingernail and can be sold billions of times at very little distribution/storage cost. So, we don't get the same deals:(

@silv3rst0rm: 720p/900p versions with lower resolution textures. Just like changing pc settings.

Look at it this way, a $4000 pc looks the same from 20 feet away as an Xbox one game, sure it plays smoother but, screen resolution for clarity has a sweet spot relative to view distance.

Now, hardware effects like real time shadows, lighting, reflections, Anti-aliasing as well as cpu/ram dependent things like view distance, ai, clutter detail mean so much more to an Immersive experience than resolution which is what people get a hard on for, but let's face it, games on all systems look incredibly similar these days, it's called diminishing returns.

@deathwish026: it'the exact same tech with a shrink in size which allowed them to over clock and basically add a 2nd gpu. Cool idea, but not a generational leap by any stretch.

Typically, a new hardware generation has about 10x the power of the previous generation. The ps4 has the same gpu, same amount of ram(well 500mb more freed up,) both slightly overclocked, same os, and they effectively added a 2nd identical gpu beside the original.

@kadaverhagga: well, if they took it away, people would freak. Lol. But really, maybe your favorite player got traded away or retired and aren't there in the next game, or you are playing through a career for accolades or trying to make the hall of fame...

@lostn: well, I bought it for tv play for older games....like kotor, morrowind, skyrim, splinter cell blacklisted. Games otherwise not backwards compatible on xb1 that I can max the settings and not only play my unnaccessable old games but, enjoy them with better graphics and smoother gameplay. So, it sits beside my Xbox one in my man cave on a 2nd tv so I can use xb1 remote play and effectively play 2 Xbox One's in the same room on 2 tv's side by side. The machine serves it's purpose. And, once again that if you take off the Windows licence, it was only $600 Cdn (just over $400 USD) before tax.
