Look, first and foremost MC is a soldier, not a clown or a comedian. He isn't there to make you laugh or be your friend. He's there to kill people and save mankind. I don't know about you but if I have real bullets flying over my head I'm not going to be making jokes or picking my nose or try to be cute. He's just a solider. And the last time I checked in war you try not to reveal your location to the enemy, so he probably does most of his comunication with hand signs.

There are plenty of games where the world is saved with more character depth than Halo. He could have been more active in human interaction and still save the world.

well obviously they arent going to say "we gave him a helmet because it was too hard to make a face." even this gen, faces are the hardest thing to make. whats the one thing that nay-sayers talk about gears' graphics? faces. they seem shiny or plastic-like. so imagine trying to pull off a realistic looking face on the orignal xbox(at launch too). but yes, allowing the audience to associate the character with what they want is a small benefit of a mask. however, if bungie could have made a realistic face on the xbox, they would have.

His name is John Spartan, so you would call him (Insert Officier or Enlisted title) Spartan (im not familar with Navy lingo)
