I'm marking out right now.

mja2k3

Why? So he can be repackaged as a Swiss dude with a german porn fetish who wrestles a bland pseudo-euro style?

This really sucks. No more KOW, either. CHIKARA won't be the same.

Good for him, though. He deserves a steady paycheck. I know i'd take the deal.

It's the best move, really. Show's been in terrible shape for years now, and as far as his role on the show goes, he's just sort of been there for the past two years. His last greatest run was his feud with Brock Lesnar.

"Bad booking does not seem to have any kind of large effect on the likes of Raw and Smackdown (okay, Smackdown is questionable, however, Raw continues to have very solid rating despite the show's many problems).

 a) ECW brand, and good amount of its workers, do not have anywhere near the credibility/establish-ability of Raw/Smackdown "

Which ties in with booking/overall decision making.

As for RAW not taking a beating in the ratings due to bad booking, before most of the crap started, they were almost averaging on 4's. They've since gradually dipped into the mid lower 3's. Unlike Smackdown, RAW can't get away with the excuses of a weird time slot and no credible stars, because RAW has both an excellent time slot and decent starpower. Which leaves only one thing to blame.

It gets low ratings because it's a bad one hour show with nothing much to offer. Just CM Punk being poorly booked as a babyface martial artist, a bunch of filler, and Big Show as the champ. Yep.

Exactly how WCW weakened Bret Hart. You gotta give Jarret one thing, and that's that he's immediately always on top of every threat.

well since Angle was fired a month ago, he has a 90 day no compete clause right?

i was talking with DirtyDarren and we were thinking that Kurt Angle obviously had a contract for a certain amount of years and since he was fired early, it was some sort of breach in contract so the no compete clause became null and void. maybe?

That's not the point. As Link said earlier, putting Angle in an "enforcer" role cheapens the impact of his signing, just as it did to Bret Hart, regardless of the circumstances. Jarret and Mantell know this.

And if that is the case, here's an idea: how about holding off on the announcement until Angle is able to legitimately perform with no restraints?! Maybe even air a few teasers that suggest Angle could be coming to TNA. (It's not like TNA wouldn't have had enough angles in the meantime to work with.)

See, THAT'S how you draw REAL attention. TNA had a real opportunity here and they blew it. I'm not saying Angle's presence alone still won't help out TNA in some capacity, because it could. But they could've done so much more for the company at large with the signing alone.

Of course, if Spike ordered them to do it, then that's a whole other story.

- WWE's latest conference call is now online
here. It features some interesting comments from Vince McMahon, including him calling the old ECW a show with "no logic whatsoever."

Actually, Mack has been around since the late 90's, so he has the experience. It's a shame, because he really wasn't all that bad of a worker until the WWE watered him down, and made him change around his style to that of a street thug (which didn't suit him, obviously.) Before, he patterned himself  after JYD, and was solid enough.

There are better choices out there than Mack (like Raven, Jake Roberts, or Dory Funk Jr), but all things considered, it's not a bad trio at all.

If he gets sidelined for 9/16, i don't know what i'll do. The card looks awesome from top to bottom, but that match in particular is the draw for me. I haven't felt this frusturated since Low-Ki cancelled all his bookings just a week before Strong/Ki at 2/11.
