EDIT: Also, do Delirious's promos ever sound eerily similar to the Ultimate Warrior's, gibberish and all to anyone else?
Applebutter and bowling balls. Delirious's promos are just plain gibberish, but entertaining gibberish. Warrior's promos were pseudo-intellectual tangents built upon tangents that miraculously sold tickets.
I love the Iron Claw. Just a fun submission that gets a nice pop. Back in 96 when i was about 10, Foley had been brought in, and i was instantly a mark. His feud with the Undertaker during that entire Summer was brilliant and one of my standout memories of wrestling as a kid. I remember being such a humongous mark for the Mankind character, that i'd randomly attack other kids in my Summer Camp group with the Mandible Claw and do the high pitched screaming Foley would do whenever he had the claw locked on. Yeah, i was a weird kid, lol.
Cattle Mutilation is also cool, but it's beginning to lose its meaning. Aside from Nigel beating Delirious with it back at RoH 8/4 (which took a couple of minutes, anyway), when was the last time anyone succesfully won a match with it?
Crossed face chicken wing is another favorite. Growing up, it seemed like one of the most believable submission holds out there when Bob Backlund was terrorizing everyone in mid-90's WWF. It's become a great part of Danielson's repetoire.
I always mark out for Tiger Suplexes, Burning Hammers, Lariats, Dragon Suplexes, Double Stomps, and the Musclebuster.
The Gymini have no place on any roster, period. They're bland and simply can't connect with crowds, as shown by their first run. And the terrible gimmick makes it even worse. If they were Gym rats, it'd at least make some sense.
Just kill ECW, already. It serves no purpose. New talent won't get over properly, whether or not they get their own TV tapings, and established talent are just being wasted in a time where the main brands are in poor shape. More importantly, they're dropping the ball with CM Punk. In the words of Cornette: "The ECW revival has only proven one thing - that Vince Mcmahon and his crew of brain surgeons up north could even **** up a wet dream."
i wana see KENTA beat American Dragon for the gold , im sick of that over rated Idiot with a belt he doesnt deservepariahmap
You know, for once, i'd like to hear someone actually back this up.
Go ahead, CZW fan, the floor is your's. How is Bryan Danielson "over-rated"?
Can't **** wait. :)
I'll post a picture w/ Sammartino if i get it.
I am sick of Danielson being champ. Yes, he is a wrestling god but draws, count-outs and time limits are just stupid. Gary I agree with your match idea. But I truely do think ROH is thinking of giving KENTA the title.keiblerfan69
Yeah, because it's not like Danielson isn't the one who controls how the match ends or anything....
And KENTA isn't getting the belt. For a while, i thought the same thing, epspecially with this whole new Zero One/NOAH/ROH etc. alliance that was recently formed. Tsuruta held the AWA title for a short time and was seriously considered for a run with the NWA title. However, after not being able to properly finish off Cabana or Nigel this weekend, and having been pinned by KENTA two times already, it's simply not going to happen. Not to mention KENTA's commitments with NOAH. RoH would probably have to fly him in.
A KENTA run would've been cool, though. In fact, among all the guys on the roster, KENTA would be the most credible. I'm not gonna say a Homicide reign would suck, but i don't know if i'd buy him as a champion. He's a little overrated in the ring, if you ask me. The only reason i wouldn't want to see KENTA with the belt is his excessively-stiff style which would injure his opponents. If he tones it down and learns to use those strikes a little more intelligently, he'd be an awesome champion. You also have an amazing batch of fresh matches: Nigel/KENTA, Cabana/KENTA, Aries/KENTA rematch, Richards/KENTA rematch, KENTA/Jay Briscoe, Whitmer/KENTA, Homicide/KENTA, Rave/KENTA, Strong/KENTA rematch, Daniels/KENTA, and the mother of them all, KENTA/Joe. Hell, might as well have him defend it on RoH shows against NOAH guys like Marifuji, SUWA, Siguira, and Morishima as well.
I hated Jericho's reign. I simply didn't buy him as champ, at that point. He seemed to have all the tools, but being placed on the backburner for the Invasion feud just as he was really starting to take off in early 2001 really killed his credibility. The only thing i liked about his run was the feud with the Rock, which should've been the title match for WMX8, where Rock would've passed the torch.
Anyway:
Benoit 2004 - Despite having most of his title matches booked below the main event, i thought this reign was still ejoyable for the most part. It really sucked that they didn't go all out with a Kane/Chris Benoit program, as it had tremendous potential. At that point, Kane was still a legitimate threat to the title. The only thing unbearable about Benoit's reign was all the Eugene crap in the middle and the fact that it was cut short. To give Randy Orton a premature title run, no less.
