Stephen Elop is a horrible choice. Beyond the fact that he wanted to kill off the Xbox brand, he's proven to be terrible at Nokia and supported Microsoft's Windows Phone OS on pure hubris alone.

Though speaking about the Xbox division and Microsoft themselves, I don't see what's in it for them in keeping that brand. It hasn't made them any money as far as I know, at least not enough to be worth the investment they've put into it.

I have to agree with @Bigboi500 as well in that as a competitor, they've brought in a lot of bullshit practices that I don't care for. Most DLC is done poorly, pay to play online, expensive proprietary crap, so on and so forth. I honestly think a companies like Apple, Amazon, Google, etc would handle that brand far better than Microsoft is.

I also have to say that on the grand scheme of things, despite the PS4 being a success early on, this console generation seems like it's going to be very slow for all three manufacturers. I also feel like Sony's early success with the PS4 was artificially made because of how bad Microsoft screwed up their PR at E3 and going forward. If you look at the launch line ups of both, they were extremely lackluster.

They did this last generation too at one point in time, when our dollar went down too. You can't do much besides not buy the games at launch and wait for price drops.

With all this talk about portables, what do you guys think of the Vita? Anybody have one?

In general, i'm not too crazy about the Vita lineup compared to 3DS. It's retail presence seems to be just as bad as Wii U, if not worse. I was just thinking it'd be nice to catch up on some RPGs that came out on PSP (never owned one). That and all the free PS+ games that i've collected. PS4 remote play would also be a plus.

The memory card situation is killing it for me though; with PS+ and PSP downloads, I would need at least a 32GB card. It's funny how I have a 32GB card in my 3DS but rarely download games whereas I would love to have an all-digital Vita but the price on memory is too prohibitive.

I've always been interested. The hardware is great, but the software is extremely lacking. I've heard they have some good indie titles on it, but I need more big releases to justify a purchase. It's been a year+ and there's still only one game I want for it: Persona 4: The Golden. I guess I'd also try to play the MGS series on it (if that's possible, I don't know if you can download MGS1-3 on it).

Proprietary memory is such bullshit. I thought they would have learned from the PSP and their CyberShot lines with the Memory Stick Duo's.

Nintendo's been consistently good with 3DS software releases, along with the eShop, I've never had a moment of not having anything to play on the 3DS -- and there's been a ton of variety. I don't really see the same on the Vita. I'm not interested in buying one for PS3 ports either, nor am I interested in using it as a remote play device for PS4 games.

My weekend consisted of playing Bravely Default between doing actual things. I got to the beginning of Chapter 2 now. It made me realize I really prefer portable gaming to console gaming because I'm rarely at home. I work 5 days a week so I play my 3DS on my commute, when I'm at home I barely take the time to play games to unwind, though I had a good thing going playing Wind Waker HD for an hour or so when I got home. Might try to do that this week.

Seems like even payed off reviewers are getting tired of console rehashes and bullshit. ZombieU, Ryse, Killzone, Knack, and now DK.

Good riddens.

I loved Riddens, such a good game.

Japanese gaming market is prettymuch dead.

No it's not, it's just changed and console manufacturer's haven't followed those trends this generation. It's going to be even more different a few years down the road and they'll all need to rethink their strategies.

Can't believe it's been two years. Wish Sony gave me more reasons to own one. 2 years later and there's still only one game I want for it -- Persona 4 The Golden.

and it's well worth it

One game is not enough for me to buy a platform, even if it's Persona 4.
