@brightamethyst: Has Godzilla's size (or King Kong for that matter) ever been consistent?

So Asian-American are not American? Since Native Americans are descendent of a group of Asians that crossed the Bering bridge 15,000 years ago, if anything an Asian looking person looks more American than any one else.

@nintendoboy16: your read of a lot of the fiction you mentioned is not only inaccurate in the extreme but a projection of current trends in fringe politics and possibly your own. The punisher as an anti-police vigilante? Okay.

You should read these comics, watch this show and also read what their creators said about them because they would know what their intent was. The Punisher is not "anti-police" but he also is not a super-hero; some of the writers of the comics even describe him as a serial killer.

@bdrtfm: They had a reputation of making good games with gamers, but people in the industry are fully aware of the amount of crunch required from anybody working for them.

I don't think it's like the staff and the managers didn't talk to each other in these 8 years. Or did they ?

In the vast majority of companies, C-level execs and shareholders never speak to the staff and people who complain usually get fired pretty quickly.

@Thanatos2k: Yeah, at least the prequels had a story to tell and had a clear direction. The new trilogy has barely any consistency and doesn't work as one (trilogy).

@cage_92: It is complicated. Japan used to be around 1/3 of the worlds consumer of video games way back 4-5th gen. But now the world is so much larger and the middle class is larger all around the world, as well as (the most important thing) Sony, Nin, MS have branched out strongly all throughout EU, AU, S Africa, S america, and indo asia, india and more. It may not seem like a big thing, but just having shelf space in lets say Poland or Hungary, in every little store that is similar to their walmarts and gamespots is no small feat. Cannot buy what is not visible as the entire world also shops in brick and mortar, as we do here.

So Japan's consumption of video games has not really increased by that much per household, similar to the USA. Mean while the worlds apatite is endless it would seem. This means Japan is not the huge influence in gaming consumption they once were, as there are more people at the dinner table.

Japan is also going through a low birth rate phase as their economy has not grown much since the 90's and expenses have kept on rising. More young people find freedom from either not having kids, or waiting much later or even again not at all. Therefore much less kids to play video games. There has always been a stigma that once you enter the work force -past a graduate degree- that most put away childish games. (many still game though but may not talk about it around corporate meetings), And like American gamers, they continue on and are getting greyer. So all this means, less growth in gamers, and those that are ... are getting older (fewer games, but more hours per game).

The Japan developer bust of the 2000s was brutal. Between a WW economical meltdown, to the earth quake that killed so many and destroyed some developers, and developers having a hard time coding for western games, they have had a time crawling back. But wow have they ever came back strong. Japan's developers, and publishers are putting out some amazing games -especially RPGs. Just look at Atlus, koemi, SquareEnix and more. The RPG rennaiscance we are going through has benefited Japan greatly, but ..... the overwhelming market for games is more western then say PS2 6th gen. So if your a developer you largest market will look much different these last 20yrs.

And some of the games that come out of Japan is just amazeballs - like Persona, Dragon quest 11, DArk Souls, FF7R and so many more. So Akihabara Japan is the place, a gamers nirvana to be and see. But the rest of the world is also catching up.

TLDR : those people can suck it, this used to be discussions, not rude comments and Adware malware sex links.

The reality is that most people stop playing video games after they graduate college and become part of the workforce (keyword here being "most," there are still a part of the adult population playing) and at the same time most of the Japanese market has shifted from consoles to crappy free-to-play mobile games; the silver lining is that people that traditionally stopped playing games after hitting 22 -or were not playing at all- are now playing on mobile.
