this is not quite correct. Vertical Synchronization was developed primarily for CRT (old thick style monitors) because they refresh the screen from top to bottom and if you are processing faster you would be displaying one image at the top of the screen and another at the bottom. LCD's do not work in this way and therefore you shouldn't need vsync at all for an LCD.It doesn't look better, it just locks the frame rate to your refresh rate, if you have, for example, 60hz refresh rate, your max frame rate will be 60, it's a necessity for LCD monitors since more frames means screen tearing, black frames.
