this is a little bit controversial but yes XP should run games better than vista. The problem is that vista adjusts memory usage on the fly so even though it takes more memory at idle, it doesn't necessarily take more while running a game. However, every head to head test I have seen shows a slight performance drop with vista. On the plus side there is dx10 support in vista and not in XP so better graphics are possible with vista. More importantly though is that dx10 is much more efficient at rendering in certain cases so if you are graphic card limited and not memory limited, then vista can give a better performance. As far as windows 7, its still in beta but appears to be a better platform. I think if you don't already have vista then I would wait for windows 7 but if you do have vista then don't switch over to a beta version of 7 that isn't fully supported yet.

I agree that onlive might do well to sponsor a netbook. However there are several very good threads on this forum that discuss the problems with onlive and why you won't be playing crysis on your netbook. The latency will be intolerable. the claims onlive has made in this area are simply not possible. Also how many people would pay for an onlive version of crysis plus a user fee to play an awesome looking game at a poor resolution? Also, the processing still has to be done by someone and you will pay for it one way or another if you don't pay up front for a high end pc. Many of the people onlive would target are lower income players who are less likely to have fast internet solutions. The truth of the matter is that if you were playing at home, then onlive makes no sense versus a console played on a tv at the same or better resolution and cheaper cost.

Trine is probably the best platformer I have ever played!! The graphics, artwork, and physics are incredible!! IMO, the graphics and artwork look far better than Crysis, though maybe not as technically advanced, but who cares, it still looks far better than Crysis, and the physics are more impressive than Crysis too.

this is the second "crysis is not that good" troll thread you have started today. Please go away and stop trolling.

upgrade to sims 3? no its not worth it. Really the only improvement I saw is that the whole neighborhood is rendered at once but thats not that big a deal. If you go to 3 you lose any expansions you bought so I would wait to buy it until they bundle it with and expansion or it gets cheaper.

The game delivers, if you didn't like it that's fine...but there's absolutely no reason to make it a free expansion as the first game is great and sold well for such a tiny development. It has a large fan base who all enjoy the game and are more than willing to pay for such a fun, unique game.

Demand and expect a free game huh...lol...geeze what's happening to people these days?

dnuggs40

I am starting to wonder the same thing and your first response dnuggs was exactly what I wanted to say. Here we have a small company doing something completely innovative and doing it well and we hear nothing but complaints about the graphics and how the game wasn't finished. We have heard the same thing about L4D2 and now mount and blade. Its a shame that more people don't want to support a game, and instead just want some free entertainment no matter what it costs someone else. This is part of what drives innovation out of the market and why we get the same old thing over and over.

"Pirates of the Caribbean" is free and "Pirates of the Burning Sea" is $15 a month. I am guessing he signed up for Pirates of the Caribbean so you are alright.

not sure what games will play on this but I did want to urge you to not spend money to upgrade this laptop. You will be throwing money down a hole. You won't be ram limited on this laptop and if you need more than 160 gig then buy an external drive since it will be cheaper, more reliable, and transferable to another computer. And do not try to run vista on an approximately 5 year old cpu with single core 1.4 ghz speed. I think starcraft or diablo would be a good place to start as far as games go.
