[QUOTE="Logan1616"][QUOTE="DanielDust"]

You should never think about overclocking, not if you don't know much about your PC, so that is out of the question for you and it wouldn't help much, your CPU is just too old.

It's a decent upgrade but I'm not sure if you can use your graphics card since you need a PCI-E card and I doubt the 6800GS which was a toned down usual 6800 on PCI-E that was made as AGP (only a few rare models were PCI-E, I doubt it's your case) would work.

Your upgrade should be more like a new PC, except HDDs and optical units..

So are you saying I should buy a whole new PC all together? Also, what's better, buying all the parts seperately for a custom made rig, or buying a whole rig all ready to go? I have an uncle who has worked on computers for 40 years, and I know he'd be able to put the parts together, so how do you go about buying PCs?

Purchasing all the parts and putting them together yourself can save you thousands of dollars, you just won't have all the extra support that you would get with a pre-built.

Uhhhhh unless he is building a $10,000 botique pc I don't think he can save "thousands" by building his own computer. He is looking at a $200 upgrade.

If you don't know what you are talkign about you could at least make you lies more beleivable because I am guessing this guy has not spent thousands on any computer he has ever owned.

well its definitely xp compatible. Have you tried reverting to older graphics drivers? I might try looking up the current drivers at the time of the game release and load those.

The compatibility problems are well known if you are trying to run it on Vista and compatibility mode will not work. You will have to probably google it and there is a specific set of files that must be replaced in the game folder. I have done it before but its been awhile and I don't remember where I downloaded the file from but hope this gives you a little direction. The game will run on Vista but it takes a little work.

So about 2 months ago... I ordered The Witcher: Enhanced Edition from the UK... I waited about 2 weeks for the package (which was supposed to take 6-10 days to arrive) with no word... I am in college right now, so whenever I get a package I am notified via school email and I can go pick it up at resident services...

I emailed the vendor (through Amazon where I purchased it) and notified them that I hadn't recieved it... They told me that it was probably lost in transit because of all the Postal Strikes going on in the UK at the time... They also told me they would refund the money... 3 days later the money was back in my account... Well I was going to lock up my room mailbox down the hall nice and tight for the winter before I went home, and low and behold when I open it, there is a small package covered in Royal Mail and US Customs stickers in my box...

So could I get in trouble now that I have both the game and my refund?

Not sure exactly about the legality but you know the right thing to do. Okay just in case you don't, you need to fess up and pay the money back or send the game back. :)

one of my favorites as well. I bought it for probably $40 new and it was worth every penny. At $2.49 its a no brainer.

you also need to know what socket type you have. On a computer that old, its probably an AGP slot and the graphic card you choose needs to match. Many of the cards suggested are sold mainly as PCI-E cards that won't fit in your computer most likely. I agree with the poster who said don't go overboard because your processor is a bottleneck as well. If you do have a PCI-E x16 slot, I think the 9800gt is a good option.

the ship is awesome. Its way better than gamerguy explained it. I don't know how many people play anymore but I used to play and it was one of the most original games ever. I am surprised its still $20 but it might still be worth a look to you.

yeah battlefield is about the only one left after the ones you eliminated. Personally I love TF2. Overall though, If you are looking for a populated game its going to be populated with 5 year vets who are way better than you. Thats just how it works. you either have to get in on the ground floor of a new one or just face the learning curve.

I'm just a curious about the sales of some games:

1.fallout 1&2&3

2.KOTOR 1&2

3.divine divinity

4.Spore

5.monkey island series.

6.Stalker:SOC and CS

I will ask more. But first I need to know about these.

Accurate pc game sales are not released. Only a sampling of retail sales is used to guess how many total retail (boxed not digital) copies were sold. I can tell you that fallouts have always sold well and fallout 3 sold $300 million and 4.7 million units just last year altough that includes consoles.

Spore was the big winner in 2008 though. It sold 3.3 million units on just pc making it the highest selling game of 2008. I suspect you can google the rest i you really want to know but like I said, the numbers will always be a lie.
