I don't think that PC is the best. But I do think *my* PC is the best.

But that's because there really aren't too many rigs on the planet that are even its equal, never mind better. Hand-built, open loop with 2 pumps and 3 radiators. Bent and shaped the acrylic tubes with my own hands. Soon to install my 7950X3D to match with my 64GB of ram, 4x NVMe's, and 4090 Strix. On a 4K 50" LG C1.

But no really, PC is the best for those with no budget or who can justify using their expensive rig to actually make money IRL on. I make money on my rig (business), so I don't mind when I turn off my work software that I can turn on my gaming software. It's efficient. For those who prefer separation from their work systems, a console makes more sense. Sometimes.

I still contend that the mere fact you can build a budget PC and play online for free forever, that PC storefront sales are incredible, that you can get hundreds of games for free, that you never have to buy another peripheral due to hardware being locked out of the next generation of consoles, and that you can use whatever controller from whatever console you like (or KB&M) mean there are some very compelling reasons to choose PC. To not even mention the ability to run Switch games with better performance than on the Switch itself. lol. With late console ports and occasional trouble-shooting are the biggest downsides.

I can say I spend 90% of my gaming time on PC and that was not the case 10 years ago. For my use case (demand for the best possible experience, high performance VR, better than 60fps at all times, ability to use my legacy arcade sticks and flight sticks that I've owned for 10 years and still work perfectly), there is no substitute.

This single person's story is doing a lot of heavy lifting for this thread's premise.

It's unfortunate for this young woman, but people get laid off all the time. I'm not sure a single layoff is evidence of "layoffs" (plural), a pattern, or otherwise some broader layoff event happening at Bungie.

Let's hold the wild speculation until there is actual confirmation that something other than a few people in a company of hundreds were laid off.

@adrian1480: if u own a package jump in and check out the game now. just can't play elite after playing SC it's just not the same game but i'm not hating on it just wasn't for me. i'm more of a fps guys. I have about $400 into this game and i got to say it's been worth it. i've put about the same if not maybe a little more into destiny 2 and i currently don't even play that anymore. so for me that feels like more of a waste than SC has been for me. what ver. did u stop playing at. have u landed on the planets, have u been to outposts, have u done a bunker mission? now are they polish like a finish game? o hell no.

I'll consider it. Part of the challenge is getting my flight stick, throttle and pedals set up. That was a B last time I had the game installed (maybe 2-3 years ago). I imagine I'll have to do it again from scratch.

Idunno. I'm just not a believer anymore. And where is Squadron 42? That was supposed to be done first, with its technology coming over to the MMO.

Honestly, the whole game is a scam, I'm sorry. The fact that people can literally buy their way to the end game should have been all we needed to know about what this game would be.

Like, imagine Destiny 2 where players could drop $1,000 and get god rolls of every weapon and exotic armor piece. Imagine Diablo 3/4/PoE starting at Paragon 100 with all the god rolls and currency you will ever need on day 1 for a small $3,000 investment, then pretending you have leaderboards that matter. Imagine playing being able to drop $5,000 on Elite Dangerous and own one of each ship, a fleet carrier, 50 billion credits, and insurance to cover any loss.

What is even the point of the games anymore if given that kind of treatment? There's a reason why none of them do. Why you have to earn what you shoot or fly in those games. Why none of those developers would allow real world currency to create a real socioeconomic imbalance in their games. This is some mobile gatcha game nonsense, in a full $60 release PC game.

The more I think about it, the more irritated I get.

Modern for me. I didn't buy a 7950X3D + 4090 Strix, a PS5, a Switch, and a SteamDeck to play retro games.

Or, not primarily. I do play them from time to time. But very rare.

After End Game for me, then the pandemic.

Last one i saw in theaters was Shang Chi which was cool. But COVID + the fast release to home video really broke my interest in going to the movies. Plus, my home rig is better than the theaters anyway. $20,000 sound system and a 151" screen with a 4K projector, theater seating. If you want to experience and *feel* a movie...to be immersed, you come to my place; not the theater.

I watch American football, basketball, and baseball.

A few other things during the Olympics.
