The 360 is destroying the Wii in sales after the release of a brand new (very good) SKU, in NA. I also doubt Kinect will do anything to impact the Wii, or hamper it in any meaningful way within the market.

They could do it, but I doubt they will. Probably 2012/2013, but you never know.

Why does Nintendo have to give up so much in the graphics department at this stage in the game? They made their money on the Wii, they pulled the casuals in. Why not cater to the hardcore gamers by releasing a system that actually has the horsepower to do 1080p and dethrones the 360 as king of the multiplats?

Why not? They can still sell the regular Wii for $149 along with the new BC Wii HD that plays DVDs for only $299. It's amazing that Nintendo doesn't take advantage of this opportunity. Why do they prefer to get pounded on needlessly?

The way Nintendo usually does it is they release first in Japan and then if all goes well, the US follows. I'm thinking a Wii HD release for Holiday 2011 and then the US release for March 2012.

Nintendo has to do something NOW. The 360 is destroying the Wii in sales and with Kinect around the corner, things will only get worse.

Microsoft will sell as many 360 consoles as they can manufacture this year. I anticipate it will be very hard to get a hold of a 360 Kinect bundle this year.

But Nintendo can fire back. They can release a new Wii HD console that is backwards compatible with the regular Wii and with more advanced controls.

The Wii HD could even be CONSIDERABLY more powerful than both the PS3 and 360 and EASILY meet a $300 launch price. Nintendo needs to wake up, they can't sleep on their huge lead.

This will also finally get the respect of the hardcore gamers and systemwars.

Who can think of one good reason why they shouldn't do this?

I do most of my gaming alone and in the confined space of my bedroom; therefore, it wouldn't make sense for me to use it in my living room for a party system or even at all.scorch-62

I think you have a point here. I wouldn't buy it myself just for my bedroom. I think kinect is great for the living room but I just can't think of how it would work in limited bedroom space.

[QUOTE="alexfla"]

[QUOTE="Chris_Williams"] people who bought the wii will have a 92% chance of buying a more expensive "xbox 360 + Kinect", motion control device with a lackluster launch "which is similar to game they can also get on the wii", yeah i don't see that happeningChris_Williams

How is Kinect similar to the Wii? It's completely different. Similar to the Wii is the Move. Casuals will see the Move as a copy of the Wii and then think to why buy this when I can just get the original?

Kinect is totally brand new and fresh. In addition to that, IT DESTROYS THE Wii IN GRAPHICS!!! This will be like a next gen system for the casuals. Next gen graphics and a next gen control scheme to go along with them.

the games are similar and have you ever heard of the playstation eyetoy? yeah so saying its brand new and fresh is redundant yeah it has better technology but how is something original when its been done before. Graphics don't mean jack squat to me, it goes like this move is similar to the wii "with better technology" and kinect is similar to the eyetoy "with better technology" anyone who knows what their talking about can see that.

No, the Move is EXACTLY THE SAME as the Wii motion plus. There's no difference. The difference comes in the graphics which the PS3 kills the Wii.

Kinect is something completely new and fresh with KILLER NEXT GEN GRAPHICS and for only $300. The Wii costs only $200 but then you have to buy a second controller which will run you easy $50. The 360 blows the wii away in graphics and features so $50 more is a no brainer. This is a great deal.

You can't ignore the price points. If the Kinect bundle cost $400 I wouldn't buy it and i'm the one here making this thread excited about Kinect.

Why is $300 so good? Because Kinect by itself costs $150 and a wifi adapter costs $100 so that's $250 if I want to take my 360 to the living room to play Kinect with Wifi. Or for $50 more I can get a brand new Xbox with wifi and Kinect all included. It's a great deal but if it were $400 then no, it's too high.

The Move costs $400 and that's just too much. And even if I pay $400 I only end up play one player which defeats the purpose of Move to begin with. So really you need around $500 for Sony Move.

That's a ridiculous price and I won't buy it.

and the Move doesn't destroy the Wii in Graphics?

lol JUST lol.

The Move destroys the Wii in graphics but the controls are basically the exact same thing. The Wii costs only $200 vs $300 for the PS3 plus Move which will cost $130 for just one player.

The 360 costs only $300 for everything included, nothing more to buy and you get innovative controls(for 2 or more players) that are nothing like the Wii and amazing next gen graphics.

i honestly can't see anyone of my friends and me playing kinect and using it as a "party system", that would be a waste of money i mean your going to have party's everyday? Also only 2 people can be on kinect so its not like everyone can play so why not just play some halo splitscreen, but of course this is just in my opinion

Chris_Williams

I mean I can also play Halo split screen if I want to. The 360 will be there and so will the 2 controllers. Keep in mind that Kinect doesn't disable the regular 360 functions.

As far as Kinect games, well dance games are going to be terrific. Also exercise games, and you won't need to buy extra peripherals. As a hardcore gamer, I would love a Kinect first person RPG. Sort of like Milo but it's a role playing game that makes me feel as if i'm in the environment. I hope the make games like that.

Also Kinect is great as a family party system if you have little kids coming over they will love Kinectimals and of course the pack in game with the river rafting.

Waving a wand was cool in 2005 but I think minority report like waving your hand in the air to control on screen is fresh and exciting for 2010.

I already have the new 360 250gb, so I'm just getting the Kinect. Also I notice your situation is similar to mine, I'm not just getting the Kinect for myself but I'm getting it for other people in this home and who comes over.

What do you think of the new 360 slim? Did you have the Jasper before that? How does it compare to your old 360?

I do my gaming in my bedroom. I have a huge plasma HDTV and my 360 and PC are both connected to it. I have the Jasper 360 with the 120 GB HD and that is enough for me. I have an ethernet cable connected directly into the console so I get a great stable connection.

However, when friends come over they sometimes ask me to bring out the console to my living room so we can play street fighter or madden or some other game they want to play. When I do this, I can't sign in to Xbox live because I don't have a wifi adapter for my system. So I can't play any of the arcade games that I own, can't download demos, can't watch movies, can't watch netflix.

It's pretty annoying actually. I've often thought about buying another xbox for my living room with a wifi adapter but i'm cheap so I always just say no i'll just move the one from my bedroom when I need it and put up with no internet.

But now that the 360 slim is out and kinect will be out soon i'm definitely buying it. I'm going to get the $300 pack with the new 4GB slim bundled with Kinect. That way I can keep it in my living room and not only that, I will also have the new kinect to go along with it.

How amazing will it be to not only be able to watch netflix movies, but also control it by waving my hands in the air or voice commands? Also, when family comes over and there are little kids, they will go crazy for the kinect games. I have little cousins that tell me they want kinectimals.

This is going to be amazing. I'm getting a brand new cool redesign 360 slim with wifi so I can put it in the living room. And i'm also getting the awesome new kinect system that costs $150 alone for the low price of $300.

Who else is getting the new $300 Kinect Bundle?

You've missed out on the best games of this gen.

sonicare

No I have not! The best games are always EXCLUSIVE!!!! Everyone here on systemwars knows this. All multiplats are watered down cheap crap.

I will stick to the premium gaming experience that is uniquely delivered by EXCLUSIVE software.
