Maybe I've been on systemwars too long but I can't play a game that's not exclusive. I feel as if the game is a cheap compromised piece of crap. Even when a game is exclusive and then loses exclusivity, it makes me sick. For example, I enjoyed Mass Effect but I refuse to play Mass Effect 2. I enjoyed Dead Rising but I refuse to play Dead Rising 2. I may pick up the XBL exclusive pre-qual though.
Games such as GTA4, Dead Red Redemption, Oblivion, COD, Crysis 2, Metal Gear Rising, Ninja Gaiden, Resident Evil and any other multiplat just piss me off. They make me so angry. I don't get it why a developer just won't choose a console to make their games exclusively on. This way the game will take full advantage of the platform it is developed for.
I will never buy a game a multiplat because I can't enjoy it. Even if I think the game is cool then when I get it and come here to systemwars to discuss it, everyone says it's crap and I feel like crap for buying into the hype.
For example I was dumb enough to buy GTA4 and everyone here knows that game is worthless. The game scoring 10 here made me just give in but then everyone here just said it was crap anyway. I felt so stupid. Then there are games such as COD which I really think are cool but I can't play them because you know they make them for every damn console. And of course everyone here agrees they are crap games.
The game that really pissed me off the most is Final Fantasy 13. That was going to be a GREAT GREAT GAME!!!! Then all of a sudden I hear this crap about multiplat. I couldn't believe it. I'm glad it turned out to be a worthless piece of crap. Well, I am still hoping for FFv13 because I love FF games.
Games such as MGS4, Heavy Rain, Halo, God of War and just any exclusive game is just so magical. It makes the game better because I know that there are a lot of pissed off people who can't play the game. And i'm like a lucky special person who gets to enjoy it. AWESOME!
When everyone on every console is playing the same thing it just makes me want to throw up. And it makes the game crap.
I think developers should realize this is how we feel and choose a platform to develop on and stick to it. But of course I know this will never happen with the greedy developers out there. Especially Activision.
Am I crazy or do you guys know what i'm talking about? I know this may not be so politically correct thing to say but you guys know it's true.

You pick the crappiest case and then don't even put case fans in it? LOL!
Anyway, you may be happy with that system but a PC elitist would have to comprimise too much to accept that system.
It is not even an i7 system. The old Core 2 Quad system are faster. And you can't run DX11 games maxed out at even 1080p.
It's a nice system but just too many compromises.

your arguement is invalid.

If I want to run games on medium, i'll play them on the Xbox 360.
there was a typo in my post, but it should still be very clear that it says very high... as in not medium :|
You can't even run DX11 games at all.
All that is sooo uneccessary and overpriced, its not even funny.

Are you planning on playing video games or building a super computer for NASA?

2 would actually be enough if it weren't for the fact that you need a 3rd one to run games that utilize physics. And when you're not running a physics intensive games, 3-way SLI offers a nice performance boost over 2-way.
Remember folks, this is not 720p gaming or even 1080p gaming we're discussing here folks. I'm talking 2560 X 1600 resolution. That is 4X the pixels of 1080p!!! And of course over 60fps is an absolute MUST!!!

If my intention was to get it to cost the highest possible, I could make it cost over $15,000.
I just used the parts that are absolutely necessary for a hard core gamer who will ABSOLUTELY NOT ACCEPT ANY COMPROMISES!!!

This is a top of the line gaming PC. It's actually not the best possible PC there is, you can go a little higher than this if you'd like. But this is hot enough for me so I built it at www.cyberpowerpc.com

You really want a market with zero competition?
gamecubepad
Competition will exist but in other areas.
Does it really make sense for 3 consoles with similar specs and 95% shared games to exist together for 20+ years?
Sure it does.
When you have companies like Nintendo and MS that have been making profit of their consoles since 2006(sans RROD) it makes plenty of sense. They offer a system with unique capabilities, then bolster it's market appeal with exclusive games and then sell 30-70 million units for $50-100 profit each. That's billions of dollars of profit.
Then add in billions from royalty fees, accessories, and subsciptions/DL's and you have a highly lucrative market for companies that can compete.
Think of the kind of profit Nintendo has made from it's exclusives alone. Flipping around 20 million units each of Wii Fit and Mario Kart Wii.
Imagine if Nintendo and Microsoft made stand alone blu-ray players.
Well, that is what it will be like in 2020. Nintendo, Sony and MS will all have their version of the console but the specs will be identical. The developers will develop for one system.
For example, imagine if next gen the Xbox 720, PS4 and Wii HD used the same games. You go to the store and pick up and game and it will work with any of those consoles.
In addition to this, I imagine other companies will have their version of a videogame console.
I am telling you this because maybe you think I am suggesting that they will drop out of making profit from hardware sales altogether. That is not what I am suggesting here.
competition between console makers has yielded good things, except for maybe the attention grabbing gimmicky things, but Microsoft started an arms race with Sony and this generation we saw some powerful consoles hit the shelves with impressive exclusives and as a result 3rd party publishers and developers can also take advantage of the hardware, competition meant Microsoft streamlining online console multiplayer, downloadable games, Netflix, friends list and party chat, DLC... fair to say, Sony is trying to follow to keep up and these features will probably remain standard on next gen consoles, thuswhat competition yielded
think if MS had not been in this race, where would we be, I can say for certain the PS3 wouldn't have been developed as advance as it was to compete with the Xbox 360, rather it would have been developed to just be better than the Wii which wouldn't have been hard at all, if we had a one console system there'd be no desire to put advanced hardware in these machines, no desire to launch new consoles to compete with others
if anything a one console maker system would be an anti-capitalistic monopoly and surely lawsuits would arise
publishers have a lot to gain too, with different systems suiting different tastes the userbase for both is really big and multiplatform sales have had a good chance to take advantage of the large combined userbase, but they're also able to exploit the console fanboy area, for instance fanboys jump on exclusives all the time, all one publisher has to do is be like "we're going to make an exclusive for this system because it's the best" and fanboys are like "haaaa, this is going to rock I'm sooo going to get this", and they will even if it's a piece of crap because the publisher learned how to touch a nerve that yields loyalty to their product
lamprey263
The reason this is not going to be a problem is because when the next generation starts, it has to be better than what is currently available.
If for example let's say the Console001 is the only console available in 2020. All games are made specifically for it and it has a life cycle of 20 years.
Then in the year 2042 they develop the Console002 but it is very lackluster. There's no competition so it's just not that good. Well, guess what, most people will just keep the Console001 and not bother upgrading to the Console002. Also it will open up the flood gates for another company to release the Matrix001 console which is actually KICK ASS and will reign supreme for the next 20 years.
Competition will still be there, it will just work differently.
