Hate these preorder offers, the person who buys the game at $60 is supporting the developer with the same amount, they should get the 'bonuses' as well. Ridiculous the person buying the game at launch without preordering doesn't get the same amount of content.
@Barighm: Phil didn't say every X1 exclusive will come to PC, he said the ones that make sense on PC will come to PC. You aren't going to see Forza or Halo or Gears on PC.
@phattuna: You have to opt out in the preview app and then follow the instructions. It will require a factory reset so everything on your HD will be wiped when that happens.
Every time I hear a developer say something like this I roll my eyes, maybe they really think it's like that, but chances are the majority of people playing it won't think so.
@davillain-: Evolve was a new IP, not really the same thing. This has SW on it and made by DICE, it will sell at least four times the amount that Evolve did . And at least Evolves maps were free and kept the small community playing together.
I remember people crapping on Halo 5's MT's yesterday. This is the alternative for developers, a $50 season pass that splits the community up, everyone will now have to pay $110 if they want the full game. And good luck finding games for those $50 DLC maps months after release.
This way is so much better than getting the full game for $60 with optional MT's that you'll never have to buy that keep the community together, which prolongs the life of the MP.
@Kunakai: Actually I'm being realistic. We're not talking about expansions, were talking about DLC map packs that split up the MP community into those who have the DLC and those who don't. That's bad for the community.
Games have cost $60 since 2005 yet game development costs rise every year, there's only so many ways to supplement that rising cost. Please give me a better way for developers to make a profit. And remember, if they aren't profitable, they go out of business and there aren't more games, no one is going to step in and save them with a free loan.
Game prices have been $60 since 2005, look at all the other things you buy now and compare those prices to 2005's prices. Gas has tripled in cost, food has doubled, the cost of development has more than doubled, but games are still $60. Why? Because they've been able to substitute raising the price of games with paid DLC.
Developers can do 3 things to combat the rising costs of development. They can raise the base price of games to $80, which they would need MS and Sony to do so. They can offer $15 map packs with a $40 season pass that splits-up the community, or they can add optional MT's.
I'm not a fan of MT's, I'll never buy one. I'm not a fan of $100 for the full game if I need to buy the DLC either. I am a fan of getting the full game for $60 and keeping the community together.
If you don't like those choices, that's fine, don't buy the game, but quit whining like spoiled children and acting like you know what's best for the industry. If developers aren't profitable, they go out of business, that's the world we live in. I wish games could be $60 with free DLC and no MT's, but we don't live in that world and we never will.
