something to think about also with the dell widescreen monitors is they are 16:10 ratio not 16:9

so when i display 720p or 1080i ect on my display i get slight black bars at the top and botom of the screen because my monitor is a large aspect ration than high def.

i think the reason for this is video editing on computers, it allows you to see playback bars at the top/bottom of the screen whilst still keeping the full native video running.

in my monitors settings it has a setting for image scaling in the image settings, allowing 1:1 pixel maping, scaling to the full monitor and aspect scaling.

id check the 20 inch 07 monitor has these options because you will probably want to use the scaling option if you set the monitor to 720p, so it fills the rest of the onscreen pixels.

Ahh yeah the black bars happens when i play movies. Doesn't bother me that much though. And it does seem like it do have the scaling options. I think it works, just tried 1024 x 768 and it stretched itself out. I'm guessing that's the thing I need, although I'm a bit afraid it might stretch it so it's 16:10 ratio thus I won't be gettin the black bars and the picture might look a bit stretched. :/

Although I love the controller I wish they could somehow make it so we could somehow break it apart and use it with 2 parts like the wii controller. and then combine them when your done. and of course rumble. That way we have the ultimate controller.

"Normal applications" meaning generic consumer use as opposed to professional or audio/videophile setups that might need some crazy shielding or something of the sort.emitsu97

Ahh ok, that makes sense. thanks, gonna get these cables now and try em out.

[QUOTE="barom"]

i got this monitor

looks like it has hdcp, but my true question is actually is there any difference from the cables i picked and the cables that are more expensive on the site? Thanks in advance and thanks to all those who have replied.

yeah the large 07 monitors have HDCP but only the 24 inch and up have the resolution to display native 1080p, youll probably only be able to display 720p on that monitor.

i have a sucky 2405 monitor so while it has 1920x1200 resolution it doesnt have hdcp, so no hdmi output for me, im stuck with component at 1080I or 720p, which isnt so bad.

Ahh ok thx, I wasn't actually expecting it to have 720p but if it does = happy me xD. And sorry about your monitor man, sad that the better model doesn't have hdcp :(

There's two types of HDMI cable, one that works, and one that doesn't. For normal applications just pick up the cheapest one you can find.emitsu97

So either it works or it doesn't? If it do work will it work on everything else you do on the PS3. Curious since you added "For normal applications".

We can still brag about how we got it first though :( (almost a year earlier?). At least it eases the pain somewhat.

Stranglehold! Cmon you'll be looking like a bad ass. Lair is weird imo, I've seen about 3-4 gameplay movies and it's all on the same level or at least look like it's the same level. Looks like you'll be shooting fireballs and that's it. Maybe dive down and fight on the ground for a few minutes and once in a life time jump over to another dragon and killing it only to jump back to your dragon. They should have given the players the oppertunity to fight without the dragon but that's my opinion. I'm guessing if you like those fights in the air you'll probably enjoy it but not for me. In Stranglehold you'll be shooting 99%-100% of your time but you'll be using different weapons and you can and most likely will be interacting with about everything you see. If you like to look cool (like a badass cool) you'll have a lot of replay value in Stranglehold I recon. + I even hear they implemented som type of online stuff WITH bullet time (wonder how's it going to work lol).

Stranglehold is coming out in August as well. Not an exclusive but looks awsome. Imagine Max Payne and John Woo made a child and called it Stranglehold and you got it
