Naruto Episode 97: Naruto's Steamy Vacation

A filler episode: Tsunade decides to stop at a nearby hot springs before returning to Konoha. Jiraiya is convinced when he learns about co-ed bathing.

As Jiraiya and Naruto relax in the hot spring, Tsunade explores the town. Naruto soon leaves the bath and returns to his room to find a note from the Akagi Family. If he wants his necklace back, come to the three trees behind the inn and return the money.

Naruto heads over to the meeting place and demands his necklace. They show him the promissory note from Tsunade and explains that they are Senta and Bunzo from the Akagi family. Their Boss ordered them to collect the money three years ago. They hoped Tsunade would come after them if they stole her necklace. Naruto decides he will help them collect on Tsunade's debts.

In town, Tsunade demands that Shi*une go get their life savings so she can continue to gamble. At the desk, a man hands her a note. She rushes back to the casino, but Tsunade is nowhere to be found. Frustrated, she rests and re-reads the note. The Akagi family has Naruto and demands their money back. She fears people will learn of Tsunade's huge debt and now allow her to become Hokage, so she decides to take action.

Shi*une poses as Tsunade and bargains for Naruto's life. She offers a fake wallet, and Naruto stares in disbelief that she won't pay her debts. Shi*une realizes that Naruto was never in danger. He teamed up with the Akagi family to collect on the debt.

Naruto sets out to steal Tsunade's suitcase which holds their money. Shi*une, still disguised as Tsunade, foils his plan. He appeals to her emotions - as Hokage, won't she help these poor fellows return home? Naruto punches and Ton-ton returns to form as Shi*une runs at them from behind. Both Kage Bunshin
.

Meanwhile, the real Tsunade is dining with old acquaintance Boss Jirocho as a number of her clones are pursuing Naruto's clones. After a rumble, the Akagi family gets the wallet only to find a wad of promissory notes. The real Tsunade shows up and demands to know what's going on. She explains she paid off her debt from their family last year. Boss Jirocho even has received a letter from the Akagi family asking that the two men return home immediately.

As the group returns home, Naruto asks Shi*une why she worried so much about the briefcase. She feared people might oppose Tsunade if they learned of her debt.

Jiraiya's been sitting in the hot springs for this entire episode, vowing not to move until he baths with lovely young girls. In the meantime, he finds himself sharing a bath with monkeys, sumo wrestlers, and old ladies. Finally when it's time to leave, several lovely girls join him.

Naruto Episode 96: Three Way Battle

Gamabunta joins the battle as his usual fickle self by asking what's going on. Jiraiya proclaims that on this day, Orochimaru will die. Mando isn't pleased to be here either and immediately requests Orochimaru to prepare 100 people as a sacrifice. He then demands Kabuto not speak to him as if the two were acquainted. Kabuto suspects that if Mando learns Orochimaru can't use his arms, it will be game over for them.

Tsunade asks Kitsuii to take Naruto to Shi*une. She forms a small slug clone and delivers Naruto. Meanwhile, Gamabunta blows a puff of smoke into the large snake's face while Tsunade declares that today the Sannin are no more.

Kitsuii starts the battle with Zeshi Nensan: Acid of one thousand fangs but the snake dodges and coils around the slugs massive body. Kitsuii bursts into thousands of baby slug clones to escape and reforms outside harms way. Jiraiya and Gamabunta do a combo attack whereby Jiraiya uses Katon! Gamayo Emudan! (Fire Blowing) to combine with the frog's oil spitting technique and the two singe the snake. It sheds and Mando heads underground, digging its way behind Gamabunta. The toad king catches the snake's tail while Mando's head flies at the toad. Having picked up Gamabunta's sword, Tsunade charges and impales the snake's mouth shut with the sword.

Orochimaru then uses his snake-like tongue to grab Tsunade's neck. She breaks free and then using Orochimaru's tongue as an elastic string, she pulls him close and pounds him sending him flying. She then pulls back on the tongue, and as he flies towards her, she meets his approach with another hard punch like a paddle ball. But Tsunade soon finds her strength starting to fail, so she does a final assault, pounding him repeatedly.

Wearily, she forms a medical technique and punches him against Gamabunta's sword. Sensing defeat, Kabuto grabs his master's body while Mando warns that the next time they meet, Orochimaru should prepare to face the consequences. As Mando disappears, Kabuto props up his master for a few last words.

Orochimaru admits he has another way to heal his arms and then reveals his younger face. He sinks into the ground as Kabuto disappears. Tsunade begins to grow old. She tells them once she rests, she'll return to her youthful state.

After some rest, the group heads out to eat before heading back to Konoha. Naruto questions Tsunade's ability to be Hokage. She pretends to be young and gambles. She demands he step outside where she'll beat him with one finger. Again, he rushes and she knocks his forehead protector off. Preparing for the finger flick, Naruto flinches, but instead, she plants a kiss on his forehead. She pats him and tells him to become a great man.

Naruto Episode 95: The Fifth Hokage! A Life Sacrificed for the Fight!

Tsunade watches Naruto drive Kabuto backwards with his Rasengan. Tsunade watches him in amazement while Jiraiya and Orochimaru continue their battle. She can't believe he was able to learn such a technique in only one week! Naruto then passes out.

Tsunade rushes to Naruto's side, staring in disbelief that Kabuto was still alive. He explains that he was able to use his chakra to regenerate his old, damaged cells, but now he's used up most of his chakra. Kabuto staggers out, but drained of all chakra, he falls limply to the ground.

Naruto's heart beat is irregular and she realizes Kabuto was able to tear Naruto's muscles. She attempts to heal him while Kabuto explains he severed the nine tails' chakra flow into Naruto's heart, destroying any chance of healing. Tsunade replies that she will kill him soon. She focuses on Naruto, who has stopped breathing, and begs him not to die. He reaches up wearily and grabs her necklace, declaring victory. She then heals him fully and places the necklace around his neck.

Meanwhile, Orochimaru sees the opportunity and dives for Naruto's body. Tsunade jumps in front of his sword and takes the blow full force. He explains that he had no intention of killing her, but he senses that letting Naruto live will prove to be a bad decision in the future. She tells him that she will defend Naruto with her life. He will be the future Hokage.

Orochimaru tells her the title Hokage is meaningless and that only a fool would want such a title. She remembers her own words, and both Naruto and Jiraiya's response. She then vows that from his point, she will give her life to protect Konoha. Repeatedly, he tries to kill Naruto, and each time, she deflects his blow. When he asks why she does such a thing she replies that she is the Fifth Hokage. She kicks Orochimaru back and taps into the energy store sealed on her forehead using Ninpo Sozo Saise: Genesis of Rebirth and her wounds heal.

Shi*une can't believe Tsunade would use such a technique. Doing so means shortening her lifespan.

With the three Sannin back in full swing, each summons their ultimate and soon, Manda the snake, Gamabunta the frog, and Kitsuii the slug
.

Naruto Episode 94: Take this! Rasengan of Anger!

Tsunade cowers helplessly at the blood around her while Jiraiya commands Naruto to protect her and Ton-ton. Kabuto is right. He is too weak to fight either of them and his Kage Bunshin will just waste chakra.

As Kabuto summons one of his snake servants, Jiraiya attempts to summon Gamabunta, but ends up with Gamakichi. His chakra is still out of whack from Tsunade's drug. Naruto then tries, but he summons Gamatatsu.

Orochimaru and Kabuto each ride on a snake head, while the snake wrecks havoc on the other Sannin, swallowing Naruto in the process. Jiraiya calls Doton: Yomi Numa! (Earth Element: Swamp of the Underworld) to trap the snake in swamp grounds.

Kabuto turns his attention to Tsunade, but she counters with a poison technique. He dodges then tunnels though the ground to grab her legs. Naruto frantically climbs out of the snake's mount and it smacks him against a nearby cliff. Jiraiya tries Ninpou: Hari Jizou! Jizou of Needles to capture Orochimaru, who then bites into Jiraiya's neck.

Tsunade slowly recomposes herself as she realizes Shi*une and Naruto are lying unconscious and Kabuto is closing in. She begs him not to come closer. He takes the opportunity to kick her repeatedly. Orochimaru taunts Jiraiya with accusations that his student sucks and that he certainly isn't as talented as Sasuke. Jiraiya explains that a shinobi is defined by the principles he upholds and most of all, great spirit, not how many techniques he knows. As he says this, just as Kabuto closes in on Tsunade, Naruto forms the rasengan and rushes at Kabuto. He quickly uses his medical technique to weaken Naruto's leg, and Naruto's attack misses.

Things are looking dismal for Naruto, so Kabuto asks if he'd like to run away. Naruto declares that Kabuto not underestimate him. He won't run away. Tsunade remembers advising her brother to run in the face of danger. His reply was that you don't tell someone to run. Kabuto starts pounding away on Naruto, but each time, he returns to his feet. He then looks at Tsunade and tells her to watch. He'll get her necklace yet.

Naruto Kage Bunshin's to hold Kabuto still while his clone forms rasengan in his right hand. He hits Kabuto in the ribs and pushes.

Naruto Episode 93: Negotiation Breakdown!

Orochimaru accuses Tsunade of betraying him. She responds that she wants to see both one last time, but she can't bring them back. Their dreams of protecting Konoha live onward in Naruto.

Orochimaru switches to Plan B and the great Sannin battle begins. Tsunade attacks with an ax kick and then destroys several walls with her powerful punches while Orochimaru and Kabuto strategize that relocating would be the best option, particularly since Jiraiya is here.

Shi*une, Jiraiya and Naruto arrive to find the place in ruins. Naruto sees Tsunade's coat while Shi*une's pig Ton-ton picks up her scent and points them in the right direction. Meanwhile, Kabuto pops a soldier pill and forms a seal. He then tunnels thought ground and jumps up near her, hitting her arm and abdomen so she can't use her strength. Curious, she wonders why he didn't go after her blood vessels. But Kabuto can't make his chakra reach that far into Tsunade's body during battle, so if he can take out her limbs, he can go for her throat. He is able to strike her lungs and she drops, unable to breath.

Tsunade isn't down for long before she begins her counter attack. Soon, Kabuto realizes he can't move his arm. Or more precisely, when he moves his arm, his leg moves. Taking advantage of Kabuto's disoriented state, Tsunade pounds him. She was able to slow him down with a nerve attack. By converting her chakra to an electric attack, she was able to disrupt the electrical signals the brain sends to the body by delivering electricity to 360 points throughout his nervous system. She then focuses on healing herself while Kabuto reorients himself. He pulls a kunai and is about to stab her when Jiraiya appears.

Naruto doesn't understand why Kabuto would be there, or why Tsunade would be attacking his would-be companion. He watches in horror as Kabuto stabs himself to spray blood all over Tsunade. She goes catatonic at the sight. Jiraiya explains that Kabuto was a spy for the Sound village. Kabuto chimes in that he wanted to collect data but knows that Naruto isn't as talented as Sasuke.

Kabuto continues to taunt Naruto while Jiraiya struggles to move. He Kage Bunshins but can't find an opening. Kabuto knocks Naruto back into Shi*une who shoots one of her mouth needles, but they hit his forehead protector.

Kabuto then pops a blood clotting pill and asks Orochimaru to remove the bandage from his right hand. Jiraiya commands that he will take Orochimaru while Shi*une can deal with Kabuto.

Naruto Episode 92: Yes or No! Tsunade's Answer

Tsunade watches Naruto train from a distance, continuing to ponder her options. She heads back into town to gamble.

Meanwhile, Kabuto questions Orochimaru - will Tsunade will actually choose to help them? Orochimaru responds that if she doesn't accept, they'll force her. But he's confident that she will.

Naruto still can't master the Rasingen. With each attempt, he grows more frustrated. Doubts spin in his mind - that Tsunade doesn't believe he can master it. He pushes those thoughts aside and continues to train.

Worried that Naruto hasn't come back for several days, Shi*une checks on Naruto's condition and finds him lying alone and unconscious, surrounded by a number of demolished trees. Meanwhile, Jiraiya buys Tsunade a drink and reminds her that tomorrow is the one week deadline she gave Naruto. He hasn't been back since. As they drink, Tsunade secretly slips a drug into Jiraiya's saki.

Tsunade trudges back to her room where a worried Shi*une asks her to check on Naruto. She does and announces that in his condition, he won't wake up tomorrow. She wonders why she got so irritated by him. Jiraiya was right. It was a ridiculous bet. Shi*une then asks her not to meet Orochimaru tomorrow. And if she does, Shi*une vows to stop her, even if it costs her life. Tsunade isn't in the mood for threats and easily knocks Shi*une out on her way to the door.

The next day, Jiraiya is still feeling the aftermath of Tsunade's poison, while Orochimaru and Kabuto head over to meet Tsunade. He gives Kabuto the go-ahead to kill Shi*une beforehand.

Meanwhile, Naruto wakes up Shi*une, who is still unconscious by his bed. She asks for the date to orient herself, and Naruto announces that it's Monday. She's amazed he healed so quickly. He tells her he simply needed a night's sleep and immediately asks where Tsunade is. Today's the deadline for their bet. Yesterday's events flood back, and Shi*une rushes to the window after Tsunade, but is greeted by a flying kunai that barely misses her head. Jiraiya stands by the window limply and admits Tsunade put something in his sake. Now he can't mold chakra properly. Only Tsunade has such talent to make a tasteless, odorless poison that could get by him.

While Tsunade heads to the meeting place, Kabuto sees Jiraiya and Naruto with Shi*une and decides that killing her would be too difficult with the others there. He retreats as Jiraiya asks Shi*une what Orochimaru offered Tsunade. Suddenly, Shi*une jumps to her feet and tells the boys she'll explain as they move.

Tsunade tells Orochimaru that she accepts his offer, but he is not to lay a finger on Konoha. The two walk towards each other and Orochimaru reaches his cursed arms towards her healing light, but before she can administer the cure, Kabuto throws a kunai to separate them. Orochimaru realizes that Tsunade was about to betray him.

Naruto Episode 91: The First Hokage's Inheritance: The Necklace That Calls Upon

Naruto charges Tsunade, Rasengen in hand, but his attempt to hit her is futile. She easily redirects his force to the ground. But she recognizes the technique that only Jiraiya and the Fourth have mastered. His isn't as powerful, but he assures her that he'll master it in three days. She then bets him - if he can master the technique in one week, she'll not only acknowledge that he can become Hokage, but will even give him her precious necklace. Shi*une thinks Tsunade has lost her mind! She's never offered that necklace in a bet before.

That night, Shi*une visits Naruto to explain the curse of Tsunade's necklace. There was one time when Tsunade was an upstanding medical nin in Konoha, but she lost all hope when her lover and brother were killed. That necklace symbolizes the two she lost. And Shi*une believes that if anyone other than Tsunade wears it, they'll die.

Meanwhile, Tsunade sits alone, holding her crystal, as memories of her brother flood her mind. On Nawaki's 12th birthday, she gave the necklace to him as a present. He happily accepted the necklace that their grandfather once possessed and vows that he will protect Konoha. One day, he will be Hokage. She removes his forehead protector and kisses his forehead. The next day he was killed in a raid.

In Konoha, Tsunade pursued her ambition to require a medical ninja on all four-person teams. She strongly believed this would drastically increase survival rates. But the counsel declined her request on the basis that Konoha was currently at war, and what she asks for would require great time and knowledge they don't have. And their enemy wouldn't wait. Only one nin stood up for her, a man named Dan, whose sister died that night in the raid. He asks to walk her home.

Tsunade then remembers the last day she saw her lover alive. He has felt so alone since his little sister died, but now his main goal is to protect the village. To become Hokage. Tsunade then gave him her necklace, but not long after, he died in battle. She arrived late and tried everything she could to save him, but he died in front of her.

Naruto is unimpressed with Shi*une's story and decides to train.

Meanwhile, Jiraiya and Tsunade drink together. He is amazed that Naruto got to her so badly that she bet him her necklace. She must know there's no way Naruto could master that technique in a week. And he inquires about Orochimaru's offer with a stern warning - if she dares to betray Konoha, he'll kill her. He knows she wasn't always like this. Once, she was concerned for the villagers as well. And Naruto must remind her of her brother - they're both the same age and recklace.

The next day, Jiraiya awakens to find Naruto still training, while Tsunade contemplates both offers she received.

Naruto (possible ninja ranks)

Possible Ninja Ranks

Ninja Academy Student: Ninja parents send their young to an Academy where their kids can learn basic ninja skills and begin training to become stronger. The skills that the students learn allow them to clone themselves and also inpersonate someone else. This alows the students to begin learning how to control their Chakra and eventually graduate to become Genin Ninja's.

Genin Ninja: Upon graduation from the academy students are given bands with their Villages mark on them. They wear these bands to represent they are no longer academy students and are now capable of doing missions. Since they are still low ninja they only do low level tasks that require very little skill but do allow them to learn teams skills since they are grouped together with 2 of their fellow classmates from the Academy.

Chuunin Ninja: When this level is aquired by a Genin their responsiblities greatly increase. They move from remedial tasks to harder ones where they are also assigned a small group of other ninja to work under them. Another one of their responsiblities is to teach younger ninja at the academy and pass on their knowledge to them. Becoming a Chuunin Ninja shows that you have exceptional skill, leadership qualities, and the ability to handle yourself in intense combat. Since activities to become a Chuunin are very hard and competative it is not easy to become this level of Ninja.

Jounin Ninja:
Once Chuunins have mastered their ablities and have become strong enough to operate on a completely diffrent scale they go through an extremely selective series of tests to become a Jounin. A Jounin is assigned the hardest missions also as well as given the tasks to lead 3 Genin ninjas to becoming Chuunin Ninja. Some Jounin take special interests in some Genin Ninja and pass on special techniques and abilities that greatly increase the Genins strength and potential in the future.

Kage: The most elite and strongest of a village is the Kage. They are the most powerful of all and hold supreme abilities and techniques to protect and run their villages. There is only one per village and all have a diffrent name starting with Rai(Lightning), Tsuchi(Earth), Ho(Fire), Kaze(Wind), and Mizu(Water). They are the leaders of their villages and eagerly watch over the raising of young Ninja since they will be the future strength of the village.

Naruto Episode 90: Anger Explodes! You Won't Get Away With That

Tanzaku Castle has been destroyed! Naruto and Jiraiya soon find out the reason why - Orochimaru's large serpent.

Meanwhile, Tsunade is lost in her memories. Shi*une tries to snap her out of her daze but can't seem to break through. Orochimaru senses Tsunade won't give him an answer today and extends the deadline a week. If she agrees, she must prepare two sacrifices. He then bites his finger as a warning, and Tsunade cowers in fear at the sight of his blood. He and Kabuto then leave.

Jiraiya and Naruto arrive too late to catch Tsunade and continue to look for her. She has made her way to one of the local taverns. Jiraiya just so happens to stop inside to ask for information when he spots the Sannin drinking heavily. Tsunade is shocked to see another of her former teammates, but Jiraiya soon gets down to business. He asks why she met with Orochimaru, but she avoids the question and takes out a deck of cards. Jiraiya cuts the deck and then asks her to become the Fifth Hokage. She deals out the cards.

Jiraiya converses with Tsunade over their game of cards. He asks if she's heard about the Third. Yes, Orochimaru told her. She then asks about Naruto, who can barely contain his shock that Jiraiya actually asked this drunk to become Hokage, and realizes he's the legendary Nine Tails. Jiraiya looks down at his cards - three Kings and two Aces. He asks again - will she accept the Hokage position? She looks at her cards - nothing. Orochimaru's words ring though her head. By healing him, Konoha will be in grave danger.

Tsunade folds and refuses the position, much to Naruto's disbelief. Jiraiya shrugs it off with a joke, while Shi*une suspects Tsunade is actually contemplating Orochimaru's offer. He then tries to calm down Naruto, who is frantically questioning why in the world he'd have chosen this ungrateful drunk to become the next Hokage. Jiraiya explains that Tsudane is the only one with the qualifications. Her grandfather was the First and her medical skills are unsurpassed. She replies that Jiraiya's latest apprentice is even more stupid and ugly than his last. Naruto starts to get fired up again, but Jiraiya defends him. It would be hard to beat the Fourth in those characteristics. Tsunade then tells him that the previous Hokages all wasted their lives for the sake of the village. Only an idiot becomes Hokage.

Furious, Naruto immediately gets up in her face and praises the Third and Fourth. He tells her that he doesn't care if she's a girl. She still deserves a punch in the face. She retorts that he's got guts to say that to her - step outside.

Outside, Tsunade declares she will beat Naruto with one finger. Naruto charges towards her, throwing kunai, but she easily dodges and disarms him. She then flicks his forehead with her finger and sends him flying backwards, knocking off his forehead protector. She asks him why he cares so much about the title, Hokage. He vows that one day, he will hold that title. He then prepares Rasengen and rushes at her.

Naruto Episode 89: Ripple

Jiraiya and Naruto stand on the skirts of Tanzaku City and Jiraiya gives Naruto a quick lesson about the third stage of his training. He hands Naruto an air balloon and explains the third step is ripple. Jiraiya holds the balloon with his right hand while showing the chakra rotation into a spherical typhoon in his left. He is able to rotate the chakra with such great control, yet the balloon doesn't move! He explains that to master the technique, Naruto must keep the chakra's rotation and power at 100% but he must maintain a small space between it and the balloon. Jiraiya then demonstrates the technique by forming a chakra ball and slamming it into a nearby tree, creating a spiral hole. He does it again, burning a hole through the tree. Suddenly, Naruto realizes how difficult this technique will be to master, but there's no time to train now.

Inside Tanzaku City, Kabuto and Orochimaru confront Tsunade and Shi*une. Tsunade immediately demands to know why he's here and soon senses he has a high fever. He has a request, but she informs him she quit medicine a long time ago. He explains that no one else can cure him. That he was cursed when he killed the Third. He has come to make her an offer. When she is shocked to learn the Third is dead, he plays his trump card and invokes the memories of the two that she once held dear to her heart. People die.

Shi*une can't stand the thought of someone trying to manipulate Tsunade and attacks with poison needles. Kabuto quickly deflects them before they can strike Orochimaru, and soon, the two servants go head to head. After they get each other in a catch 22 position with blades at each other's throats, Tsunade tells Shi*une to back away.

After a few curt demands that Orochimaru leave, he reveals his terms. He will revive her brother and lover with the forbidden technique he developed. He now has her attention.

Jiraiya scouts town for information on Tsunade. One man offers him a bet. If he wins at dice, he'll give him the information for free. Chou (even) or Han (odd)? Jiraiya picks chou and the dice land, displaying a two and a five. Just as Jiraiya realizes he must pay up, Naruto pops a balloon and the five rolls, landing with six face up. Jiraiya wins!

Naruto then spots a fortune teller and takes a game ticket. To his glee, he wins enough money to refill his wallet! The two then head for higher ground to search for Tsunade.

Tsunade hasn't gotten over the deaths of her lover, Dan, and her brother, Nawaki. But she senses Orochimaru is up to no good. She asks what he will do if she were to cure him. His goal - to crush Konoha.
