@Ezioprez9709: Hitman has always been about hiding in plain sight. If there was a mission that didn't have disguises, that is when I'd start screaming.
To be fair, the first Hitman had at least one mission where you basically had to climb up a building, snipe the target & escape unseen but that wasn't the best Hitman.
I'd be keen to see CD Projekt do a Telltale/Life is Strange style story focused game.
I love shiny graphics in games like The Witcher 3 but big open world games like that take a long time. They've obviously got some great writers on staff so if they went for a simpler visual approach, they could tell some awesome stories. I'm not a fan of the episodic model but that's not necessary for the format.
UWP doesn't sound all bad. MS having a curated store that works across a range of devices is just following successful players in the market like Apple & Android. That's fine, so long as it's an option.
When I installed Windows 8.1, I tried a few Windows apps & I had another go when I updated to 10. I didn't like them. I don't like the way that they run in windows that can't be resized or that I can't look at the folder & see where the files are. If others want a simple interface, like on a smart phone, then that's fine. The great thing about PC as a platform is that it's all about choice. I can buy games on Steam, Greenman, Humble Bundle... wherever I want. I can edit videos with Adobe, Avid or open source options like Lightworks. If UWP brings more people into the PC ecosystem then that's great.
The only problem is if they get greedy & try to force it more advanced users. Currently the way it runs games is objectively worse; UWP games don't work with SLI or G-Sync & performance suffers because they can't go exclusive fullscreen. Rise of the Tomb Raider has been proven to be a much poorer experience if purchased through the Windows Store. If they are going to push future exclusives like Quantum Break, then they'll need to sort out these issues.
@gamedelay: I can definitely see how it would be fun for a few hours with a friend or two in co-op but from what I've seen there just isn't enough depth for my tastes.
I've tried several MMOs & none of them grab me. Random stuff happening in the world can be great in RPGs but when it's a limited range of events that just keep repeating, I don't feel like I'm making any difference in the world whether I do it or not. I'm personally not into running 'dungeons' over & over at different difficulties, I prefer new content.
It seems light The Division is an MMO Light rather than an RPG with extra multiplayer stuff. I prefer to spend my time in a more focused single player experience.
I gave it a jam in the closed beta & it wasn't my thing. I like RPGs but 10 hours of story missions seems like a token effort while the real focus of the game is on multiplayer.
The massive open beta they did probably helped ship a few copies. No day 1 reviews matters less to people when they've already had a chance to try the game for themselves. Time will tell whether or not there's enough content to keep players going but Ubisoft may have stumbled upon a new trend in boosting sales. Demos! Sure they're called open betas now but it was less about fixing bugs & more about giving players a very limited sample of the greater game.
It's a nice looking game at least, I hope they use the same engine for Watch Dogs 2.
Pre-orders are dumb. Here's hoping they give you that refund but you should definitely stay away from pre-orders in future. Giving big publishers money for games before you find out if they're good or not doesn't exactly encourage them to make great games.
Are we due from another, "we are committed to PC gaming" speech from Phil Spencer yet? Microsoft seem intent on pissing off a large section of it's paying customers.
It's always tough finding the balance between researching a game enough to decide whether it's worth spending time & money on versus spoiling the surprises the game has to offer. I already avoid most movie trailers as these days they seem intent on telling you the whole story before you can even buy a ticket.
