He says, "So right now we've just started to work on the free updates and DLC." He suggests that all efforts have been put into the game (yes, gameplay & features as well) & it's only now, in the polishing & optimisation phase, that they are starting to create DLC. If it's an integral part of the story, then it seems like it should be in the main game.

To be clear, I'm not one of the anti-hype haters. I'm happy with the RPG route they've taken & gameplay looks pretty good to me so far. However now I'm more conflicted because it looks like I won't be able to get the full story unless I fork out extra cash.

Wasn't there literally just an interview where the guy said, "we're holding nothing back"?

I recognise that devs have to build a DLC plan in these days but they should at least get their story straight about what they're holding back.

@mcguffin: They're only showing console footage at the moment, we've yet to see if the PC version will be as good as the initial showing or not.

I won't defend the bullet sponge enemies but I won't jump down their throats for it yet either. It looks like they've tried to balance it primarily as an RPG where both players & enemies have a health bar & damage output that scales with levels. A loot based RPG just wouldn't work if you could go down as quickly as you do in COD or any other shooter.

If you're into more classic shooters & not into RPGs then I get that. It just doesn't make it a bad game because it's not to your taste.

How about looking at what the game actually is instead of spouting all the hater rhetoric? Downgraded from what?

I gotta be honest, I'm liking what I see.

Not sure about the bullet-spongey enemies but generally it looks pretty good. An RPG with optional co-op is what I was really hoping this would be. If you were expecting a COD or Counter Strike style shooter, well sorry but you've still got those. What I see here is a shinier Watch Dogs with more shooting & less hacking & I'm OK with that (although I'm still looking forward to WD2).

MMOs just don't grab me but an RPG with some co-op might just be OK. This game has been so over-hyped & over-hated that it's hard to tell how it will end up but I'm really hoping that it's good.

@mdinger: Yep, I got burned once when I bought The Wolf Among Us & got stuck waiting for months after the cliffhanger ending of ep 1. Never again.

In a world where video streaming services like Netlfix have finally freed people from the shackles of having consume content on somebody else's schedule, why does the video games industry suddenly think they can get away with this nonsense?

I've been toying with the idea of Elite but I'm just not sure if it will be my jam.

I'm into putting a bunch of hours into a game, playing through the story & then moving on to the next one. I'm not into MMOs or anything that is best enjoyed being played over months. Plus I need a stick.
