@psuedospike @bbq_R0ADK1LL Yeah, pricing sucks down here in New Zealand. Steam still occasionally screws us over on new(ish) release games (e.g. Dark Souls 2 is still US$71.99, COD: Black Ops 2 is still US$99.99) but overall it's cheaper than any store I could walk in to.

I may eventually pick up a PS4 but there aren't enough games to make it worth it just yet. I played the Infamous games on PS3 & I definitely want to continue the series & I'm keeping an eye on The Order:1886 but I'm not about to buy a console for 2 games.

@psuedospike TLOU Remastered is currently going for NZ$99.99 (just over US$85) so even though I have a job I don't consider a 12-15 hour game to be worth that price.

Since I switched to PC gaming, I can get a whole lot more value for my money. The investment in the hardware was worth it.

TLOU is definitely a game worth playing. I think this remaster is really targeted at people who never had a PS3. Plenty of 360 owners are making (or tempted to make) the change to PS4, so this might just help sell a few more consoles.

I just rented it on PS3, it's a game you can easily beat in a few days if you set a weekend aside. I guess the multiplayer gives it some extra life but I only really care about the single player experience so a full price purchase isn't really value for money in my opinion.

@Shielder7 They basically have a model that punishes early adopters. Fans of the game will insist that Zenimax is improving the game & will continue adding content. As an early adopter, they are basically funding a bad game in the hope that it will be better in the future. As a consumer you are actually better off if you jump in a couple of years down the line once improvements have been made & more content is available.

It's pretty ridiculous how games like ESO can charge full price for entry & then continually charging you to play the game. For $15 a month on Steam, I could play so many different games with so many different experiences, play styles, stories, genres, mechanics etc. I don't care how much additional content anyone's favourite MMO is giving them, I bet they could get a lot more value putting that budget to Steam, GOG or any other PC storefront.

@somberfox What about the pay once model? Like Guild Wars 2? It's not just free-to-play vs pay forever.

I approve.

The Witcher 2 had some pretty crazy graphics requirements like ubersampling that will still give today's best cards a run for their money. As long as the game has a bit of longevity, & the lower settings are still optimised properly then I think it's a great move.

I hear there are a few updates coming to the game, like AI for your companions. I'm excited for this game, but I want to play it when it's at it's best so I'll be waiting a bit.

@NightRain Not much you can do about exclusive games but plug in a controller if that's what you prefer!

Keyboard & mouse are great for accurate shooting or top-down strategy games but many third person games play better with a controller. Get an HDMI splitter & plug in a TV if you want a bigger screen. The great thing about PC is that you have options!

All these reasons & more. With a pretty underwhelming new generation of consoles, it's a great time to make the switch to PC. After growing up on PC games, I moved most of my gaming to PS2 & PS3 for several years. Coming back to the PC a couple of years ago was the best decision I've made for gaming! Amongst other things, I realised how much I missed strategy games.

Also, amen to single player gaming!

Some co-op with friends I actually know is OK sometimes but I hate it being forced on me. I don't mind multiplayer existing for those that want it, but I wish publishers would stop trying to stick in everything like a horny teenager.
