What a surprise, the game billed to change gaming forever is a just mash up of things that have been done better in other games.
The real success of this game won't hinge on how the critics review it though. COD wheels out the same thing every year & there's an audience of gamers that lap it up. The question is, will those gamers find longevity in Destiny. Many of them have already put their money down so I'm sure they'll try to get their value out of it.
@Zelda99 First time I played Civ V, I sat down for 10 hours straight. I literally didn't leave my chair until 9:30 am. I went to work an evening shift the next day & came home & did exactly the same thing again.
@blowinstankbud I'm pretty sure they're working on a BL3.
My main hope for BL3 is that the levelling system will be tweaked. BL2 had some great perks that completely changed the way you played the game but thanks to the way that enemies *didn't* level with you, it would often be a long time between levels. I expect this game to pretty much be a really big expansion, which I will still play but hopefully the next game will make some big changes.
So basically they decided to kick the horse one more time with the engine they used for Black Flag & hope it coughs up a bit more cash while we wait for Unity.
I was getting pretty sick of the AC franchise but Black Flag was actually fun. Mostly for the stuff that wasn't about being an assassin. I don't know if "make the lead character not an assassin" is taking the right lesson from that though. Black Flag could just have easily not been an AC game, called, 'Ubisoft's Pirates', ditched all the ham-fisted stealth elements & still been a good game. I imagine what they're doing with Rogue is basically putting a snow skin on the last game & cranking out more of the same. Let's be honest this is Ubisoft's Pirates 2: Shooting People in the Snow (also with some parkour & sneaking because, why not?).
@CalinTM Yes, yes, you're so cool no-one can enter your club.
Actually, I made the transition from PS3 to PC gaming a couple of years back but I don't feel the need to act like an elitist snob. More PC gamers means better PC ports, cheaper & better hardware & less games limited by consoles. I don't see any problem with smart, educated consumers making a choice about what system to play their games on. More knowledge & more videos like this, I say.
