@Hjindee @Pelezinho777 Them textures. I'm no game coder, but I think hi-res textures make a lot of use of RAM, rather than say lighting effects.
RAM is pretty much the easiest & cheapest upgrade you can get for a PC as well. I got 16GB @ 1866MHz a couple of years back to future proof myself & it didn't cost much more than if I went for 8GB.
@crashmer Wait til the reviews come out & make a decision. It's hard to judge how much character development there will be from a short trailer like that. I thought they looked like interesting characters though, time will tell.
@PS2fweak @fzzywarbles @lionheart051 Yeah but Shadow of the Colossus was released 9 years ago. It looked good for the technology available at that time. DS2 (especially on console) doesn't look like a game that was released in 2014. The problem is that the graphical fidelity lets down the art design.
I personally find it really distracting when I see a blurry texture. It really takes me out of the experience. Also the enemies that look like they're spinning on a record player while they lock on to you mid-weapon swing. That's lazy programming.
It seems to me that a big part of the Dark Souls games is exploring the world & encountering interesting enemies. If they don't look good, then that detracts from those elements. Graphics sure aren't the MAIN THING, but they're literally what you're looking at the entire time you are playing the game, so they are a part of many of the other elements.
What is crazy is that this mod was out within a week of launch. This GS story is actually a little late to the party. I don't get how the whole team making this game couldn't manage to do what one guy did in a couple of days.
I would still like to see a complete hi-res texture pack to go with these additions. The art design in DS2 looks pretty cool so it's a shame that the graphics let it down. I'll probably pick it up when it comes down to a reasonable price & when I can get it to look better.
@bfeinberg Sure, they're covering this game for money. I expect any sponsored deals to give a fairly positive slant but paid reviews are an urban myth made up by butthurt fanboys so just drop it.
ESO has been scored pretty poorly by everybody so it won't take a lot to get a higher score than that.
