TLOU Redux should push some PS4 sales. I know several people who wanted to play it but didn't have a PS3 & didn't want to invest in a console at the end of it's life.
Is anyone really surprised by Watch Dogs requiring Uplay? AC: Black Flag, Far Cry 3 & other Ubi games all have.
The only real problem with the platform is the tendency to sometimes corrupt your save files, causing you to lose hours of progress... OK I guess that is a bit of a problem. Luckily Windows 7 automatically backs up the folder & you can roll it back by a day, but still pretty awful. This has happened to both me & a friend in different games.
Regardless, I'll probably buy it on Uplay rather than Steam since it will save me a couple of bucks on the exchange rate & I'll have to use it anyway.
@Dissentioncc What if there are people out there who have never played JRPGs before but are interested in getting in to the genre. Maybe they saw some advertising for the game & thought it might be a good place to start? Now they know it's not.
A veteran of the series can provide a useful viewpoint & a newcomer can as well. If you're going to say that someone has to go back & play every FF game just so they can have a valid opinion, you're an idiot. Some previous RPG experience would surely help, but if a whole review was about subtle changes to the battle mechanics that required knowledge from the reader, then that review is only helpful to a certain demographic as well.
@ladies_man_xxx Yeah, there are definitely a few textures that could be improved & a few more particle effects they could throw in. They've definitely upped the lighting effects compared to the last trailer they showed though.
Hopefully all the options are there on PC to crank up. The overall look is unfortunately limited by old consoles, but it still looks pretty nice. Looks like heaps of fun anyway.

I think impressive visuals in a game about exploration makes a lot of sense though. As I replied to another comment, PS2 era may have been hyperbole but my seriousness remains.
I was actually looking forward to giving this game a try & I still might if the PC version offers some improved graphical options. A game needs to be more than just difficult. Life is difficult, I don't need more of that. A game needs more than nice graphics as well, but I think in a game like this they are an important component.
@RicanV True, a game like Space Invaders has all the plot needs in the title. Many games do benefit from interesting character development & a good plot to drive the game.
I'd also like to take the opportunity to say, GS - your site is still terrible. Auto-loading the next page once the video is finished makes it really annoying when I want to leave a comment.
@Talavaj I think in a game like this, exploration of the world, admiring the awesome piece of armour you just equipped & stopping to enjoy the view are all important aspects of gameplay. If visual fidelity is lacking then of course the game should lose marks for outdated visuals.
The PC version will have to look a lot better to convince me to give it a try.
