@shinreiningyo I used to have my 42" LCD next to my PC & t was great for any game I wanted to play with a controller. Unfortunately I had to move it to the lounge when another flatmate moved out. Not everyone is able to cable their PC to the lounge.
A decent streaming device like the Nvidia Shield or some sort of Steam box is the perfect solution for people who prefer lounge gaming, provided the streaming actually works like they say it does. The pricing of PC games can actually save you money in the long run.
I remember working in retail 10 years ago & selling 42" plasma TVs for about 10 times as much as they cost now. I also remember rumours of 4K popping up in around 2006 with things like the Red Cam becoming more wide spread. It seems like 4K has been slowly creeping up on us but I think 1080p will still dominate the living room for a while.
I'll probably do another PC build in about a year though, perhaps there will be something in a reasonable price range by then.
@komuchen @bbq_R0ADK1LL @JudgeSim Yeah, San Andreas was definitely not the first, just a big game for newbie gamers who want to feel superior without any experience or research into what they're talking about.
@JudgeSim Seriously? Open world sandbox games are pretty much a genre now. When San Andreas was released almost a decade ago there was a long period where every open world game was called a GTA clone, but I think everyone's pretty much over that now.
You kind of missed the boat by about 8 or 9 years.
I really worry about the ABXY buttons being separated like that. Using the left thumb to move as well as pushing those 2 buttons may prove to be difficult.
A lot of people seem to think David Cage makes movies, not games. I think you need to broaden your mindset a little bit. Open world sandbox games like GTA are great but linear narratives like The Last of Us can be great too. The last thing we need is for someone to come up with the perfect formula for what is a "game" & for everyone in the industry to follow it. Diversity is good.
If you go in to a Quantic Dream game expecting a branching open world game then I can see how you'd be dissapointed. If you go in expecting something a bit more than an interactive movie with a good story, some interesting characters & maybe a little innovation & some risk taking mechanics then you may get even more than you were looking for.
I'm not about to hail this as the greatest game of all time because I haven't played it yet. I'm looking forward to it though. I liked the experiences I had with Quantic Dream's previous projects whether they were games or not & I'm looking forward to more.
Just in cae you've been living in a cave for the past decade... Is this really news to anyone?
I am starting to wonder about some of these small form factor 'lounge PCs' that are starting to come out though - will they have a separate power brick?
