This game has a cool aesthetic but it's kind of a shame that they went with a standard Soulslike formula. It would have been interesting to see swords working well against fleshy enemies but maybe having to use some kind of bludgeoning weapon against big metal monstrosities. I guess Soulslikes are still in vogue but having some faster paced combat with weapon switching could have been a nice revival for the spectacle fighter genre.
It's on Game Pass, so I'll probably resub for a month & give it a go. I'll see how long I tolerate the Souls stuff.
@noodles227: Review scores are dumb. Look at the content of the review (from multiple reviewers) & figure out if it's the kind of game you will enjoy. Expecting a single number to determine how every single person will enjoy a game will only lead to disapointment.
@boobytrap: Yeah, it's a real shame. I could tell the PS5 was underpowered when it launched & we're seeing its limitations now.
I look forward to this being released on PC. Good games deserve to be played at smooth framerates. Considering this is more action-based, not turn-based, a solid 60fps should be the minimum standard.
Yeah, you can jump in at any one. The FF games are numbered, but they're not direct sequels to each other, except for a few like X & X-2. FF games have similar mechanics & themes & a few character names pop up regularly, but they're not set in the same universe.
@mooglestar: I don't know if you ever game on PC, but Steam in home streaming has been around for a while & it's very responsive. Maybe not quick enough for Street Fighter, but those guys are playing on their CRTs anyway.
Your tweet calls that thing a cloud handheld gaming device, but in the video clip they say that it will stream games from your PS5 over WiFi. In-home streaming & cloud gaming are two very different things. You might want to fact check that.
Then they got greedy & decided to stretch out the story & go for as many seasons as possible, rather than a tight narrative. Now we won't get to see the end to that story, which I'm kinda bummed about, but also kinda not because I don't know how well planned it was anyway.
Even if you don't play the gambling mode, Career & Be a Pro modes are sure to be as lacklustre as always. I played FIFA 22 briefly & my Be a Pro career was ruined by an inept coach who kept playing players out of position, watching their careers tank as their match rating plummeted & then buying more players to start in the wrong position.
They recycle content year after year, don't fix bugs & don't care about PC graphics. I've switched to playing Football Manager instead. The gameplay is far deeper & more satisfying.
