Uncapped framerate is the most important thing. I borrowed a PS4 to play the game & it felt incredibly sluggish to me, very unresponsive. I don't think I'd buy it to play it again, but I'll definitely be waiting for future PlayStation 'exclusives' to come to PC where I can get a better experience.

I grew playing games like on Tony Hawk, BMX XXX & SSX Snowboarding. I don't engage with these sports too much these days, but I did manage to get a little surfing in last summer & got down to the mountain for a couple of days of snowboarding once this year.

I played the open beta of Riders Republic & it was good fun, but definitely aimed at a younger crowd. Gone are the Gen-X & early Millennial trends of baggy jeans & a punk rock soundtrack. This is pure Gen-Z, with bright colours & dance moves everywhere. Everybody's there to have fun, there's nothing to rebel against. It's a very different vibe from when I last dipped in to a game of this genre.

If you're into any of the sports available & the bright colour scheme doesn't put you off too much, I would recommend this game, based on what I played. It's relatively easy to jump in & have fun, but there's definitely some skill required to pull off the more complex tricks. I'm a little worried about the microtransaction economy in a game that you already paid full price for, so that's probably worth looking into if you're concerned.

I played Man of Medan on Game Pass & it was good fun. I'll give this a blast too.

@FallenOneX: I love Ace Ventura, but looking back... yeah I guess that character was a bit insensitive. Still a great film.

I'd say this is stupid and pointless, but it's actually worse than that. Depicting fictional racism actually gives players an opportunity to see it from a different angle and judge it from the outside.

I've never had any compulsion to play WoW, so I won't pretend to know the specific implementation of such phrases. I think one of the best examples is in the Witcher games. Humans and non-humans have plenty of racist terms for each other. Redanians have insults for Nilfgargians, kings have insults for sorcerors etc. Playing as Geralt, a non-human, the player has a chance to see the stupidity of all these judgements based on whatever somebody happened to be born as, or whatever group they belong to. People are individuals. Some of them are nice, some of them are A holes.

Depiction of racism is not support of racism.

Removing references to fictional racism doesn't erase real world racism. It just takes away opportunity for people who still harbour some racist attitudes to examine their beliefs through another lens.

@tisezoda: On PS5 & Xbox Series X, they have a new animation system which actually affects gameplay. I think that's significant enough to warrant a separate review, or at least a section stating how much of a difference it makes.

I'm a few hours in & basically, it's more Far Cry. There are a few small changes on the formula, just like every time. Now you can swap your loadout up to suit the enemies, rather than having a perk system or any kind of linear upgrades.

I have a 5800X & a 3080 & it's running very well for me. It has an annoying alert about the 11GB VRAM limit for HD textures, even though Task Manager & Aida64 show me that it's not even using all 10GB. There are a few weird bugs & the NPC AI is pretty bad. What you expect from a Far Cry game on launch.

I'm only playing it now because I got a free code with my CPU, otherwise I would wait for a few patches.
