@lionheartssj1: If you've played one Ubisoft game, you've played 'em all.
These light RPG elements are exactly what they've done with the AC series. It makes every game feel kinda the same & if you play even a couple of these franchises, you get burned out fast.
Looks like a decent card but a bit disappointing with the pricing. In DX12 titles, it performs similarly to the RTX2080 but lacks a lot off the added value that Nvidia has. No ray-tracing or DLSS, no Shadow Play etc. At the same price point, it's just not really the challenge consumers had hoped for. DX11 performance it a bit underwhelming too.
@Gallesh: OK, I'll give you that one. To be fair, I never played it.
Either way, they don't have much experience with modern multiplayer games. It's easy for devs to screw up the basics - just look at Monster Hunter World. The online system is ridiculously dated.
@Warlord_Irochi: I'm not sure I have faith in Bioware... do you remember Dragon Age 2?
ME: Andromeda was clearly the B Team so I won't judge these guys based on that, but even so, Bioware don't have a perfect record. Plus this isn't exactly in their wheelhouse. Bioware are great at story & characters but they have fairly limited experience with multiplayer games. From what the guys said in the video, it already looks like they're struggling to integrate the story into the co-op gameplay.
That said, I'm not saying this game will suck. I'm taking a wait & see approach. I'm just saying that I don't necessarily have faith in Bioware to execute this well. I certainly won't be giving them my money up front.
Most co-op games handle story pretty poorly. Warframe actually does a really good job of separating the story content from the rest of the game. Many story missions are solo only but you can do them at your own pace. After the first few missions, you're basically left to your own devices (which has its negatives as well, there's a huge learning curve) & you're not forced into sitting through cutscenes when you really just want to have fun with your friends.
I'm not writing this game off yet, I'll keep watching & see how it pans out. I'm definitely not pre-ordering & even a launch day purchase is probably a bad idea. Most AAA games these days get a lot better a few weeks or even months in. They launch with bugs, balance problems & not enough servers to handle the load. Not to mention some games are now adding microtransactions after reviewers have already scored them. I'll let the suckers who pre-order beta test the game for me & I can make a decision based on how the game is looking once people get their hands on it.
@Gang_Related: Are you accusing them of being paid to do their job? Are you accusing them of being bribed by indie devs? I don't understand.
I'm kinda surprised AC Odyssey didn't make the list too, it certainly sold well. There are definitely criticisms that it's too long though. Too many side quests padding out the game. I haven't played it, I'm just saying that there are a lot of critics who have pointed this out and there are reasons it might not be Top 10 material.
