@pug987: Heard the name, never heard much about it.

I've heard of Numenera as a tabletop RPG but I'm not really familar with the mechanics.

Picked up Oxenfree. Everything else on my Wishlist is still too pricey.

@Pierce_Sparrow: @deviltaz35@Lazerbeak2125 I agree, it's all about the storytelling. These games pretty much let you go along for the ride with just enough inputs to make you feel more invested than a simple TV show.

I have a pretty big aversion to zombies too though. Mostly it's just an excuse for bad AI. Mechanically I don't like zombie games because hordes of dumb enemies get boring. Narratively I don't like zombie games because the concept isn't believable - human teeth aren't great for breaking skin, any organism whose means of feeding is also their means of reproduction is doomed to a very brief rise & fall... it requires way too much suspension of disbelief.

I give The Walking Dead games a pass because they're more about the human relationships being put under strain than the outside threat.

@Sound_Demon: Getting a review in the headlines every time they release a chapter certainly benefits Telltale.

For me, this might as well be an Early Access review. The game isn't done yet.

@tevic: Scarface was actually pretty awesome. It was definitely a cash-in on the GTA-style trend at the time but it turned out to be fun plus the theme & art style worked really well.

Playing on PC with mouse & keyboard was interesting though. It still used an auto-aim system where the cursor would jump to the general area of an enemy but you'd still have to do some fine movement to make the shot.

Here's the biggest downfall of Overwatch for me: the thing that makes it special is the character you choose. The thing that draws you in is how cool your character looks & the rewards are often skins for those characters.

And then you get to look at their hands for an entire match.

It's the same problem that Borderlands games suffer from. The first person perspective defines the core mechanic of the game & yet it goes sharply against the core aesthetic appeal of the game. If it was a third person game, you would get to actually look at the character you picked & that skin you paid for... but of course third person shooter play differently to first person ones.

But hey, I don't like shooters & I don't like first person perspective in games games. I wish Dishonored & Far Cry were third person so who am I to judge? Popular opinion wins again. When is Cyberpunk 2077 coming out?

This makes me wish PC had rentals.

I give zero cares for multiplayer but I wouldn't mind putting down a few bucks to blast through the campaign in a day or two.

So few movies to anything to earn a sequel these days.

They pick an IP that will guarantee sales & then they make more sequels based off those sales. They spend the whole movie setting up the next one instead of making a great film that actually deserves a sequel.

OK rant over. I'm not sure if I'll pay to see this in theatres or not. It's not like there are a tonne of other great options.

I'm surprised The Witness ranked so highly. Especially for a game I doubt most people completed.

I'm starting to realise that I've purchased a lot less games this year. I'm sure part of it is that I have a mortgage now but looking at the list, all the "best" games are niche indies that are overpriced at launch (imo) or shooters which is not a genre I enjoy. It looks more & more likely that Overwatch will top this list but it's a game I know I would never find gripping.

Can we just have a Witcher every year? Or at least something of that caliber? I guess that's too much to ask for.

@darksouls: One reviewer gave it that score. This is a whole bunch of reviewers. I'm sure it was a contributing factor but if it was simply a matter of ranking them by the scores they already have, then this would be a pretty pointless list.

If you're looking for objective facts. You won't find them here. Opinions are subjective.
