I don't really care what anyone says if their opinions label Overwatch terrible on all counts simply because of hype and "ohhh well these concepts aren't new, Blizzard just recycled old shooter ideas blah blah reviewers paid off to create hype blah.."
I'll base my opinion on this game solely on "fun factor". So far is the game's all around experience fun? HELL TO GOODNESS YES.
@Ultramarinus: I could go on for hours on how it's not a clone. TF2 has fewer classes with only 3 to play for each category. Overwatch has a far more diverse cast to fulfill many different kinds of roles. With TF2, team play can still function fairly well if multiple people play the same character roles. TF2 also plays solely through weapon variety and buff systems, where as Overwatch uses character Q/E/Shft abilities that work in conjunction with each other.
@elheber: I've seen Lucio bops and Mercy resurrections in highlights plenty of times, but I get where you'e coming from on not making all the "plays of the game kill based". Ultimately play of the game highlight algorithms are based on the most "game impactful" kill streaks rather than the coolest moments.
Reason why the Reddit Overwatch forum isn't cursing Bastion and pressing his neck to the pitchfork over balance is because at higher ranks, he's not as difficult to deal with. It's expected that in early beta, everyone's gonna have a hard time with Bastion (me included). Most players in beta picked favorites rather than fulfilling roles. Also, players had yet to try out the entire cast spectrum to know who's hero skills work best in "x" scenarios.
In my experience (and the forum), players are slightly more "team conscious" past level 20. A skilled well coordinated team that covers the role spectrum and understands the map can handle a few camping Bastions. He's a stationary glass canon, vulnerable to snipers like Hanzo and Widow, and flankable by Reaper and Tracer and if Pharah keeps a low profile from high ground can be annoying as hell.
@ice12tray: Haha so true. I feel Bastion abuse is threshold for good team play. Bastion squads had me rage quitting often until I partied up with my brother and a more coordinated team. Not a team of duplicate attack heroes trying to play "deathwatch" over objective. Any time I see someone suck up and play a Mercy or Lucio, I let out cries of joy.
It will be interesting down the road seeing how Blizzard balances the game, I find that Bastion might balance himself down the road as players get better at situation awareness and focusing him down priority before jumping on the rest of the team.
