Hey, Guild wars is a very good game, and excellently made. I was looking at a mmorpg the same as you about 7 months ago and found the game, it kept me playing up to a few months a go. Don't get me wrong it is a fantastic game, yet I would not recommend getting it now, when I bought it I was turned off as I had joined so late. High end pvp is dead and most people are just doing runs for money. It ruins the enjoyment of it and so whilst its a really good game, I would wait until guild wars 2, it will be a lot better choice.

Thanks everyone for the quick replies, I love gamespot forums =), everyone is really helpful. Sorry I forgot to mention about the games I have and what I don't like. I've already got mass effect and fallout 3 on the xbox 360 and really liked them. I couldn't really get into oblivion and GTA 4 and seeing as I can only play on the weekends, I've chosen to look for PC gaming. - Crysis, apparently it has short single player, so I'd rather not get it. - Sims 3 - not really into that type of game. -WoW - don't want to pay for a subscription game - although if I could I would play a mmorpg =). Sports games - not interested in these. (Sorry if I sound very picky) Thanks SemperFi10, for the list and the others who have recommended so far, it has helped loads. I think I'm leaning to between the 'orange box' that people recommended and dragon age origins - so i'm not sure which to get between these two. I know tf2 is supposed to be really fun with many hours of fun multiplayer - will I like this as I love modern warfare's multiplayer? And dragon age origins I've been really interested for a while. So its a tough decision, what would everyone here pick?

Hey, my laptop should be coming in the next few days, here's the specs:

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor P7450 (2.13Ghz, 3MB, 1066MHz)

Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 64bit- English

Black Leather back cover : 15.6" (inch) Truelife 1080p Full HD WLED Edge to Edge Display

1GB ATI® Radeon™ HD 4670 graphics card

4096MB 1067MHz Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM [2x2048]

320GB Free Fall Sensor (7200RPM) Hard Drive

- So after becoming increasingly bored in the evenings on a weekday, with a lot of time to spend - I'm looking to buy a pc game that shall last me a long time, whilst being a great game. As I just bought a laptop, I'm pretty tight on money and would like a game that has a great amount of fun and will last me a long while.

I'm getting Modern Warfare 2 on the Xbox 360 already (yet I can only play this on weekends, due to it console being someone elses and its not in my house).

I initially looked at dragon age origins, yet after many complaints on the forums, I am becoming quite skeptical. So could you please recommend a game that has a good length, is fun and a very good game. If as many people possible can post that would be fantastic!

Thanks

[QUOTE="dakan45"][QUOTE="Arach666"]

"Pc has higher standards" Dragon age graphics are kinda dated for pc standards. Also the consoles have lower standards and usually games are rated with high scores for no reason like Halo ODST but whatever the case may be i find kinda weird and cheesy that the reviewer (Kevin V) who usually rates games lower than most cirtics has given such a high score. Esepcially if you consider the ign 8.4 rating. It looks cheesy to me. There is no way a game like that could get a 9.5.dakan45
Because? and don't give me the graphics excuse, the game is superb and the graphics are good enough. Diablo is one of the highest rated games of all time, does that mean it has awesome graphics even for its time? no. Stop being tied to graphics and polish, great games don't always come with these two "features", best games usually "don't" come with them.

Well most high rated games got graphics, the review is coming from someone who is usually rating lower. I just cant believe it got a 9.5 on gs by that specific reviewer and in the other sites it didnt. Gs used to hold back the 9.5s but now they are given like cake. For all those reasons i cant believe its that good. It seems weird to me.

Maybe GS is giving a 9.5 because the game is that good? IGN uk and us both gave it above a 9, as well as the majority of reviewers doing the same.

[QUOTE="adamosmaki"]The 4670 is a good card. of course is on the low end of gaming cards but still is a gaming card You should be able to play most games at 720p ( aka 1280x720 ) at high or mostly high settings ( the games will look a bit blurry though since this isnt the native res of your laptop but nothing that ugly that will turn you off from playing at a different res than the native) At 1080p you should be able to play most multiplats at medium/ high settings but without AA

Thanks for your answer, it helped ,what would u say looks better - 1080p with a game on medium but without AA or turned down to 720p yet on high?

Yeah, running high performance games at that resolution will be pretty difficult. There is really not much you can do. You can turn down the resolution, but will look rather ugly on the screen.

And note, Laptops aren't typically meant for gaming.

Why does it look ugly when the resolution is turned down? I know laptops aren't for gaming, i'm going to try not to get too high performance games.

First of all please bare in mind I do not know very much about pc hardware and I'm just beginning PC gaming.I'm not going to be buying too intensive games (although I will be getting dragon age: origins) and am fine not running games on high due to my graphics card

I bought my laptop yesterday witht the specs:

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor P7450 (2.13Ghz, 3MB, 1066MHz)

Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 64bit- English

Black Leather back cover : 15.6" (inch) Truelife 1080p Full HD WLED Edge to Edge Display

1GB ATI® Radeon™ HD 4670 graphics card

4096MB 1067MHz Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM [2x2048]

320GB Free Fall Sensor (7200RPM) Hard Drive

So as it has a native resolution of 1080p, I have heard there will be problems running games on this resolution and you need a good graphics card to do so, is this true? Will the 4670 limit me from running games due to the detail? If the graphics card does limit me, is it possible to just turn down the resolution and then set the details to high, or does this make the graphics look fuzzy? (I know nothing about PC games)

Thanks

But if I don't get the 1080p screen, does the 720p screen still look good? - it's a cheaper option. Also, in terms of gaming and general usage, what's the main difference between the processors and is it noticeable? - I don't really understand what ghz/fsb/cache means :D
