IMO PS2 has the best library of games out there and will be very hard to topple. The PS3 is probably my 2nd favorite console of all time, below the PS2. The PS2 had all the best titles in possibly the best era of gaming: the era right BEFORE game consoles went all online focused. Strictly single player experiences with deep, linear stories are always better than games that focus on online content and skimp on the quality of the campaign IMO. It's why most of my favorite games of all time have no multiplayer component (with the exception of MGS4, which had online but it did not degrade the quality of the nearly perfect story mode in any way, and Halo 3 because well, it's fun).
A game like Tekken should have unlockables IMO. It's part of the fun. I just got Marvel vs Capcom 2 last week and while it's a blast, I would have preferred it if they didn't give you all the characters from the start. It makes the roster list overwhelming for beginners and takes away the sense of accomplishment, giving you one less thing to work for.
Haha 7 discs would be ridiculous. That was mostly brought up by fanboys who were pissed it went to the 360. Honestly I was initially pissed it went to 360 myself, simply because even though I have a PS3 and a 360 I hate how so many titles theses days are multiplatform, which kind of ruins the point of having multiple consoles. At this point though I don't care anymore about this particular loss. Anyways 3 discs sounds reasonable, Lost Odyssey was 4 and I didn't mind at all. But I'll still be picking up the PS3 version of FFXIII.
The matchmaking disc is basically the original Halo 3 disc minus the campaign and plus every Halo 3 map ever. Which really pisses me off since most people already own 90% of the maps on that disc yet we still are expected to pay 60 dollars for it.
There are already annoying peple like that on PSN, and the thing that really sucks is that bluetooth mics on PSN are much more sensitive than Xbox mics, meaning you hear a lot more background noise from these people who have their mics on just to swear and yell at everyone. Luckily, most if not all games support the beautiful feature that is mute.
Obviously people who first experienced the game when it came out were more blown away by the game than people who play it for the first time are. It's a great game but if you play it for the first time now your expectations might be a bit too high. Nostalgia adds to a lot of the hype for this game. To me, it is one of the best games I've ever played. I just beat the game again the other day after downloading the PSN version and I still love it now as much as I did when I first played it (years ago). ...One thing though. TC, you appear to be a big Crisis Core fan yet you haven't played FF7 until recently? You should have played FF7 first, maybe that's part of it. You already know about Zack and his role and all that stuff.
