I once thought like the TC. But now I think of switch as a great home console once I was playing games on my 55” 4k tv and they looked and played great. As a result I also stopped wasting time watching digital foundry videos lol

I agree, the original post is an opinion . But I sort of agree with the opinion or idea behind it.

I’ll give an Extreme example at first. The order 1866. This game sums up the originals post idea / argument. Games are becoming stories we watch with great graphics but just aren’t that fun to “play” or have weak gameplay mechanics. In the case of the order the game really bores me and I couldn’t get past 2 hrs.

A lot of people would probably agree with me on the order. But a game where folks would disagree with me is Uncharted 4. This game too I found boring. Not as bad as the order. But so many parts I was just like pushing forward on the stick to watch nathan walk thru scenes. And then it was so repetitive. Come to an area. There’s a ledge u can’t reach. Find a crate to push under it. Now can reach. Proceed.

And it happened again to me with Arkham knight. Bought the game on sale and can’t get past 3 hr of the same thing. Chasing objective markers in the world. Using bat vision then calling your bat mobile to use as a crank to pull down a wall or something.

However I’m not as forlorn as the original poster. I think there are still great games out there. I loved ori and the blind forest. For what ever reason gta5 was really enjoying. And I think Nintendo are the ones now who make games and don’t put in insane amounts of budget for graphics and effects but focus on game play mechanics. Games like Mario Odyssey and breath of the wild or Mario Kart as examples.

Sony games on the other hand look a lot better but I’m not sure how much more fun they are. They also cost a lot more to make and ironically end up selling for a lot less than Nintendo games as sony’s games price drop quickly. Example for Black Friday Mario Zelda splatoon mark kart all were full price most places. Same goes for the system itself.

Lastly that new sucker punch game coming out. I read recently that they are motion capturing horses. I’m sure that’ll look cool but will it make ya want to still play the game for fun years from now like people still play super Mario 1? Doubt it.

"paying continuously" ? Aww hell naw.

why? people pay "continuously" for great services they enjoy. i pay continuously for netflix and spotify because those are great. i don't play for psn plus or playstation now continously tho, but hey if sony want to try and make better/worthy services good for them, hopefully they can come up with something good.

I think he’s saying despite. Switches high sales. Game publishers like activision are still making more money with tittles like assassins creed on lesser selling hardware like Xbox. Or ea and Star Wars. Or Bethesda with doom.

It’s an interesting thought. Despite Wii outselling other consoles that gen. People still preferred ps3 and 360 for their software. Red dead and mass effect were not on Wii for example. He’s making a apt comparison. Cus a lot of narrative right now is “nintendo is back babyy! “

But really until they have a system with great 1st party games and 3rd party support like SNES are they really back to their former glory? Maybe switch is just bringing Nintendo back to their Wii days glory?

Sad for Microsoft. They were like selling the one s with crazy discounts like 200 with a game and still no one really wants them compared to switch

@clefdefa: it’s a stark reality for Nintendo. Even with 3rd party and mature content the game cube didn’t fare to well. It had resident evil and viewtiful joe for example. And they made eternal darkness. Would more 3rd party support even have helped? Because Xbox came in and that probably took a share of the pie. Halo was a hit and LAN parties could have taken the goldeneye multiplayer shooters from Nintendo. And the. Ps2 was just a juggernaut. It’s hype alone killed of the Dreamcast. It had big final fantasy games. GTA. Gran Turismo. Metal gear solid. And introduced god of war. And other things like bully and manhunt.

And then for Nintendo they realized even with a massive install base that doesn’t guarantee support. Look at the huge Wii sales. And 3rd party support after titles like Zack and wiki faded away.

So I get it. It’s a hard market. Tough competition. It’s no wonder they attempt to try something new most of the time. The Wii u screen in the controller was a bust. But so far the switches, screen is the console idea seems to be a hit.

Good luck Nintendo.

The music in that part is what makes it outstanding, but the level itself not so much; by the way in the trailers the city looked huge but is fairly small.

I ageee when I was atop the tallest tower and looked around it’s not a huge “map”. There are lots of nice secrets tho. Many buildings to enter and secret doors.
