You have to buy borderlands or pre-order to get first crack at the demo. I am sure the demo will be released to everyone either closer to release or a bit after release.

Still somewhat rubs me the wrong way that you need the GOTY edition of Borderlands to get into the access club, instead of just having borderlands and all the DLC, which seems more faithful to me. Not a problem for me though since I recently got the GOTY edition on sale after owning every dlc for the 360 version, it's still strange though

I own standard Borderlands on Steam [non GotY] and am in First Access club + have the "free DLC" for Duke. Maybe it is because I pre-ordered Borderlands though.

[QUOTE="dakan45"]^ I really like what he says and i agree I believe more devs should put quality over protection.. But honestly this DRM. "excuse" is a joke. GOG version had no drm. So: a)There is your unproteced exe right there for pirates to use b) Despite that GOG had no drm, it was still not possible to play it before release. So why not ditch drm and do what gog did? ;)

Probably because A) GoG.com is part of the CD Projekt family and B) Other publishers are not - it is likely that publishers made some demands [whether justified or not] to include DRM in non-GoG releases; I am guessing that CD Projekt managed to convince the publishers to limit the DRM time period to a window just before and after release to keep release dates intact [and exclusivity/pre-order bonus "perks"/etc]

I'm skipping first, idc about stories lawl, I am too hardcore for them.JigglyWiggly_

.... So many sarcastic come backs are floating in my head wanting to be written down but I will instead go with the classic *sigh* /facepalm /worriedaboutfuturegenerationsemote

Edit: To the OP -> Start with The Witcher 1. The story lines are related and, as another poster stated, you can import your save and your choices will have consequence.

I bought the game on gog.com and I've had to download it 4 (yes four) times now and I STILL can't get it to install. Easilly by far and away the worst service I've ever used for buying and downloading games. I wish I went with Steam.

I've been on their forums for hours now, used their support section twice with two different issues, had no replies and I am really wanting my money back now. If I can't get it to work soon I'm going to be following it up to trading standards or something to get my money back. I'm not the only one with these problems, there's numerous threads on their forums with people complaining.

Apparently the GoG downloader is trying to open one of the .BIN files rather than the proper setup file. Solution has been to exit the downloader and go to the download location [the downloader defaults to Documents\GoG.com Downloader I believe] then manually run the setup.exe file [if you have known file extensions hidden (which is default behavior) then it will just be called setup]

To verify - the GoG version of The Witcher 1 is fully up to date with all patches. All GoG games have the latest (most stable) patch [if possible] - and, considering that GoG is run by CD Projekt, It makes sense that TW1 is patched up :)

..... your title leaves a bit to be desired. Since English is yout your primary language I will just say this: The term "Master Race" has some.. er.. bad connotations to it; its use in History has never been positive.

[QUOTE="October_Tide"]

Afaik the only versions that have been cut are the Australian version (and since NZ this time is being a lazy as ****, we also get the Australian version) which only cuts one certain small part of the game where you can accept sex as a payment for a quest. Nudity is in all releases of the game.

Baranga

Didn't GOG remove the IP check this week? And doesn't this mean you can get the uncut version from them?

Yes, but it is most definitely not related with the Australian/NZ censorship. GoG was very adamant and made sure to point out an RPS article that clarified they most definitely are not expecting their loyal user base to fudge the system to get by region restrictions. Yep. GoG users would never ever ever bypass crazy regional restrictions with GoG's new no GeoIP policy... and GoG certainly didn't even consider that possibility. Nope.

(Imagine a guy in a monk hood winking)

I often wish that American media/censors/public would cease being such prudes about things. We glorify violence in basic cable television, but oh lord help us if any bare flesh is exposed. "Concerned parents" will let little Timmy play Call of Duty and kill people in full gory detail, but oh don't let little timmy see a booby. :/ - America is full of annoying hypocrites. [I say this as a Native born American who has proudly served 2 times in the armed forces during times of war - so no, it isn't just "Euro Trash" [another term that is irritating] that think many Americans are uptight prudish snobs] I am glad CD Projekt at least has the cojones to stick to their principles and game design orientation.
