Yes Rift is the "King of WoW Ripoffs" Just like WoW is the "King" of EQ ripoffs. What? Too direct?

Here is another tip: Often killing everything in your path is the absolute wrong way to go about it. This is a game where taking other methods into consideration is often very rewarding and, in some cases, necessary for survival :)

Really hard to beat SimCity 4 to be honest - no one has really come close to what made that game so addictive. Dawn of Discovery is a pretty great city/empire building sim with alot of different things to play around with [Anno 1701 is also good and slightly less system intensive]. Cities XL was 'meh' for me and the other city builders have all been misses [especially SC Societies]

According to the site it will not be available for download until 9AM Pacific - that is ~2.5 hours from the time I post this. http://dragonage.bioware.com/da2/demo

Hard to compare CO w/ WoW - 2 different methods of play, 2 different settings, 2 different games. Look up some YouTube videos - I haven't played enough of either WoW or CO to really even start to give detailed turn by turn comparisons.

Best way to find out if you will enjoy it is to either watch some videos on YouTube or download and jump in - the biggest advantage of F2P is lack of a barrier to entry :)

Yeah but I live in Mexico, downloading a game like that here takes at least 1 full night and probably the following morning too. How does it compare to WoW?

Commander Keen was an iconic game for my childhood :) - I remember it as one of the few computer games I ever beat. Another one I really enjoyed, but that really didn't receive many accolades, is Traffic Department 2192 - bloody hours of fun in that one :)

I find it to be "so so" fun wise. I don't care for the engine/control scheme [/ui] they use {was a beef with STO as well, since they seemed to just port the CO engine over}. Best way to find out if you will enjoy it is to either watch some videos on YouTube or download and jump in - the biggest advantage of F2P is lack of a barrier to entry :)

The same goes for the other end of the spectrum. The people who cry "DEVELOPER [X/Y/Z] SUCKS AND THE GAME SUCKS AND IT KEEPS CRASHING CAUSE ITS A BUGGY MESS" when, in fact, it is their machine/ineptness that cause the problems [or they are using a non-legit copy of a game with built in copy protection traps - that sort of stuff is what drove Titan Quest into an early grave. The developers built a crash trap for illegit copies in one of the first caves you visit - quite a few people blasted the company for a shoddy release citing crashes... when the crashes were due to an illegal copy]. It is annoying to see people respond to help requests with "well it works fine for me" and no other information, but just as annoying to see people refusing to believe that there is a possibility that their uber-leet computer skills aren't so uber.. or leet... or existent.

>.> Devils Advocate: 1000% addition to a dwindling user base isn't that much in the grand scheme of things. It is a good thing to see that CO is growing though. What remains to be seen, however, is how much extra revenue this brings in. They could gain 1,000,000 new players... but if very few purchase anything then the numbers are off and in the end it is not working. The only real issues I have with CO F2P are how many things require unlock and how.. uninspired the base Archetypes for free users are. LotRO saw a surge of something like 300% in profits, never mind the surge in active users {they reported adding over 1,000,000 unique new active accounts post F2P} [and LotRO was a game that still had steady subscriber numbers when they decided to go to F2P after their huge success w/ DDO F2P] Good on CO for having some good news - it looked like it might have been heading for the MMO Graveyard in the sky, F2P may just be its saving grace.

[QUOTE="carlosjuero"][QUOTE="Roland123_basic"] why is my opinion better? because its my opinion, and frankly it is the only one that matters. also, because i wasnt jumping on the bandwagon of making fun of/putting down DA2 just to look cool. gamers have this thing about them where if a lot of people think something is bad, then it becomes cool to think it is bad as well......

well guess what, DA2 is an excellent game as everyone should have expected considering it is from bioware, and all of you that said it was going to tank were flat out wrong.

i fully expect to see all of the naysayers on this forum now become huge DA2 fans, singing its praises and completely denying that they ever said anything bad about the game. i will then laugh at how much of a hypocrite they are, because that seems to be ever so popular on these forums.

Roland123_basic

Clarification: I have never said DA 2 will tank. All I said in my post was that the video did not impress me. You cannot say DA 2 is an excellent game without more information anymore than people can say it is a crap game without information. As soon as you start saying it is an "Excellent game" with no firsthand knowledge then you invalidate your right to tell people off who say it is crap with no firsthand knowledge. Thats just my opinion of course. The biggest problem with the game industry is not Negative players... its players who come to uninformed conclusions (Whether for or against) with nothing to back them up. This allows mediocre games to thrive and some gems to get left in the dust [opinions on what is mediocre and what is a gem nonwithstanding].

ummmm... review from a well respected publisher is in, stating that it is an excellent game.... how is that uninformed? if anything, i am MORE informed in my opinion than anyone that was claiming it was going to be terrible, as they had NO reviews to base their opinions on, and i do.

as such, i am going to just ignore your post as being argumentative for the sake of being argumentative.... because it is kind of hard to argue with what is right in front of you. 94% from PC gamer with an average offset of +/- 5% for other review houses.... that is the norm. DA2 meta critic is going to come in around 90% based on historical trends. that is indeed an EXCELLENT game....

Maybe I say that because reviews from "well respected publishers" have no bearing on whether I will personally enjoy a game or not? I do not let others make up my mind for me, I judge for myself.
