You're fooling yourself if you think most people care about business practices. I don't care if the game was made a 360 exclusive. Microsoft, as publisher had that right especially if it helped sell more of their consoles. I, for one, will judge a purchase based on how well the game looks and plays. Not some childish notion of "PC loyalty".Johnny_Rock

If you don't care about shoddy business practices such as this then that is your problem not mine. I personally do not appreciate being treated like a "second class customer" and if a company treats me that way then I know they won't get my money. If you want to call that a "childish notion" then again that is your immature view. This is not about PC loyalty, I do not care if a company is loyal to the PC platform or not. I do care about a company trying to make a quick buck from the PC platform after their supposedly "triple AAA" game crashed and burned on the consoles.

Now you are more than welcome to buy a 9 month old game from a company that tried to con you into buying a console to play this "exclusive". Me personally I will carrying on buying games from all the companies that do value the PC as a gaming platform and they aren't affraid to put their money where their mouth is unlike Remedy and Microsoft.

After the middle finger was given to PC gamers by Remedy and Microsoft with Alan Wake I honestly can't imagine why a PC gamer would be jumping for joy at this news ? Apparently our money wasn't good enough for them 9 months ago but now that it flopped on the console all of a sudden they want our money ?

Yeah the age old saying "too little, too late" applies very well here.

Bit of an odd question but the answer is yes you are allowed to mod Minecraft. They even have modding discussion forums on Minecrafts official forum. Infact Notch and Jeb are talking about implementing a modding API that makes modding even easier than it is now.

There's a difference between making requests as a customer and having entitlement issues. Asking for Half-Life 3 would fall into the former and be acceptable. But saying something along the lines of "OMG Why u no make HL3!! U owe us PC xclusiv Half-Life!" is a prime example of the latter and does nothing but make the developer not want to listen to whoever does that.

Phoenix534

Nope there is no difference in those two requests, if you are saying one is "request" then so is the other and god forbid should gamers actually DEMAND what they want any more. Nope we should all just go "oh pretty please thank you sir can I have some more". The customer should be demanding that they wants the product to be exclusive to the PC platform (if that is what they want). That isn't "entitlement" that is a WANT that some customers want and it is up to Valve to decide whether they want to cater for that "want". There are good reasons from a PC gamers perspective with regard to wanting it to be a PC exclusive. I personally couldn't care less myself I lost interest in the half life series long ago.

The only reason I am posting in here is because I am sick of people bringing out this "entitlement" rubbish. Yes we are entitled to state what we want in our products because we PAY their bills.

I'm glad I'm not the only one seeing gamers develop entitlement issues. How do any of these developers/publishers owe us anything?

Phoenix534

Urgh I hate this line of thinking "oh gamers have entitlement issues". You call it "entitlement issues" I call it customers stating what they want. Yes Valve does owe us something every developer making a game owes us something if they want our money. We pay their bills and as customers it is perfectly right that we should state what we want from a product.

As for Half life 3 being exclusive, I doubt it. The way Valve develops stuff these days means it will be a console port, hell they might even just leave the "do not turn your console off" messages in the PC version (and then come up with a BS reason for it).

As far as I can remember (it's been well over a year since I touched the game) I had to play on low to medium settings, sliders down to below 10 and even then I saw framerates of around 20 - 30fps. Apparently that is acceptable for my machine a Q6600 (quad core) with a GTX260 and 4gbs of RAM. I don't know call me old fashioned but running a game with worse settings than a console on a quadcore with a GTX260 is never "acceptable".

No you didn't get it wrong, but Microsoft did make things unecessarily complicated. There are actually two schemes that Microsoft operate on the PC. These are :-

Games For Windows = this is a brand name that MS runs. When a game is released with the Games For Windows banner it means that the game adheres to certain standards (such as including support for the xbox joypad) and it means that the game has been through Microsofts quality control and has been certified (don't laugh at the back). However a GFW branded title does not necessarily mean it uses Microsofts GFWL network.

Games For Windows Live = if you purchase a game with the Games For Windows Live branding then the game adheres to all the standards of the GFW branding and on top of that uses the Games For Windows Live network for it's network features.

As you may have guessed Skyrim is a Games For Windows title and NOT a Games For Windows Live title.

They all deserve higher.

HyperWarlock

That is a matter of perspective, personally I think high scores are given out far too easily these days. I would even say that Minecraft really isn't an 8.5 game at best I would give it 7.5. Now before you hang me I actually love minecraft and have sunk hundreds of hours into the game (still playing it today). However there are problems with the game and deficiencies in the gameplay which should be reflected in the reviews and the scores. I can't comment on Battlefield 3's score because I have never played it (not a fan of Origin) and I can't comment on Zelda's score because I don't play games on consoles.

I normally try to stay out of these kind of topics on the basis both sides of the argument usually spout rubbish with various levels of "righteousness" attached. However I saw this tweet from a developer responding to CDprojekts claims :-

CD Projekt estimates 4.5M pirates play Witcher 2. We estimate 6.8 Billion pirates play Magicka.Fedrik Wester

https://twitter.com/#!/TheWesterFront/status/141808760309039104

So there you go Magicka is the most pirated game in history :P

I would say 90% of the time I play with the sound turned off so subtitles are invaluable to me to figure out what the story is actually about. Thankfully the inclusion of subtitles these days is becoming a norm but I remember the bad old days when you took pot luck as to whether a game came with subtitles.
