Thanks. I didn't know the third one wasn't made by them. So did they buy the IP back or something?? biggest_loser
Yep cost them $300,000 to buy the name and rights to everything. There is even talk of them re-releasing Carmageddon 1 and 2 in a "form" that can run on modern day PC's.
After years of negotiation, the original founders of Stainless recently bought back ALL the rights to Carmageddon. So now it?s back in its rightful home, we?ve embarked on the journey that will reboot the brand, and we want YOU to join us on that journey.Stainless Steal
We?re a modest-sized indie developer (around 50 trapped souls), and we've already invested well over a third of a million dollars getting the rights back and beginning design and prototyping. This represents all of our profits from our other work - but we think it's worth it. We currently have a small team working on the project - but without some sort of dedicated funding, that can?t continue indefinitely. We can't put this game into full production without a sizeable team dedicated to it. So we need a pile of CASH to get the game made. Or more chocolate and nicer cake. But CASH is more likely to work, to be perfectly honest.Stainless Steal
I honestly think these guys are "decent" and they "care" about the Carmageddon IP just as much as anyone else (yes I know their primary motivation as always is money). I really think they deserve a shot at trying to make this work which is why I will be pledging around the $150 - $350 mark before the end of May (even if they meet the target before then).
