Thanks. I didn't know the third one wasn't made by them. So did they buy the IP back or something?? biggest_loser

Yep cost them $300,000 to buy the name and rights to everything. There is even talk of them re-releasing Carmageddon 1 and 2 in a "form" that can run on modern day PC's.

After years of negotiation, the original founders of Stainless recently bought back ALL the rights to Carmageddon. So now it?s back in its rightful home, we?ve embarked on the journey that will reboot the brand, and we want YOU to join us on that journey.Stainless Steal

We?re a modest-sized indie developer (around 50 trapped souls), and we've already invested well over a third of a million dollars getting the rights back and beginning design and prototyping. This represents all of our profits from our other work - but we think it's worth it. We currently have a small team working on the project - but without some sort of dedicated funding, that can?t continue indefinitely. We can't put this game into full production without a sizeable team dedicated to it. So we need a pile of CASH to get the game made. Or more chocolate and nicer cake. But CASH is more likely to work, to be perfectly honest.Stainless Steal

I honestly think these guys are "decent" and they "care" about the Carmageddon IP just as much as anyone else (yes I know their primary motivation as always is money). I really think they deserve a shot at trying to make this work which is why I will be pledging around the $150 - $350 mark before the end of May (even if they meet the target before then).

An established IP really needs a kickstarter? I'm just apprehensive about these things. You just don't know how its going to turn out. What if you put money into this and getting something the equivalent of Carmageddon 3: TDR 2000? Who actually played that!? biggest_loser

Just a heads up but the developers of Carmageddon 3: TDR 2000 were NOT Stainless Games. If you visit the Carmageddon website you will get a very good idea of what the crew of Stainless games thinks of Carmageddon 3: TDR 2000 :-

http://www.carmageddon.com/history/carmageddon-tdr-2000

If you are too lazy to look it is basically a picture of a "steaming turd" with the caption of "we don't talk about this". Now I find it hard to believe that stainless games will go out of their way to create anything like Carmageddon 3.

I have this weird bug where the game crashes right before it ends. It cuts off before they can tell us anything and before it gets good or explains anything, then it skips to credits. Weird, but I can't seem to find a way to solve it.

SPYDER0416

Yeah that is a bug, it has been affectionately named as the "artistic integrity" bug. There are currently no workarounds for it but Bioware are addressing this bug with a new patch in the Summer. The patch is even getting a special name, it is being called the EC (which probably stands for Extremely Crap). This new patch will solve the "artistic integrity" bug by introducing 100% more "artistic integrity".

What PC exclusives can compete with Max Payne 3? I wasn't aware of any PC-exclusive 3rd person shooters these days...

nameless12345

Erm how about Diablo 3 (don't know why you felt it necessary to limit competition to game type) you would have to be insane to release a game at the same time as a Diablo game on the PC. Hell I don't even like Diablo games but even I recognise there is such a huge demand for the 3rd installment that anything else released at the time would be doomed to obscurity.

I remember when the GTA 4 DLC was due for release on the PC and PS3 simultaneously. At the last minute Sony threw a hissy fit about some content which delayed the PS3 version by 2 weeks. This also meant that Rockstar delayed the PC version as well for the same amount of time. Their excuse was "it wouldn't be fair for PC users to get the DLC before PS3 users".

Obviously any notions of fairness go right out the window when it's PC gamers. As for why the two week delay, the two reasons I can think of is 1) don't want negative publicity from a god awful port to rain on the parade and 2) they don't have the balls to compete with a PC exclusive.

They will manage it :) It's 23 days left, also: Most of the projects on that site gets founded the last minute, so therfor I am sure whatever amount that is needed before it's ending will be there ;DTheVeryEnd87

Pretty much this, there is still plenty of time left and plenty of people that haven't yet pledged. I myself am extremely interested in this and will be pledging but right now I am trying to decide whether I can justify the $350 price tag for all the goodies. If I can't justify that I will probably go with a $150 pledge just not sure which one yet.

So although it has slowed down a bit, I don't think there is a worry it won't reach it's target in 23 days.

What a scam. "Pledge more money and we'll give you bumper stickers" This is why I don't bother looking aat that worthless scam site Kickstarter.SKaREO

You obviously missed the bit where they fly you to the UK and incorporate you into the game as one of the Opponents in the game, that is not something minor especially for a fan of the game.

It better be more like Carmageddon 1/Splat pack than the others.

2 Was ok, but 3 sucked hard.simardbrad

If you check the Carmageddon website you will see they are of the same opinion :D :-

http://www.carmageddon.com/history/carmageddon-tdr-2000

So you can safely assume the new Carmageddon will be more like 1 and 2 rather than that abomination that was TDR 2000.

Worst games I've ever seen... Kickstarter? Really? You must be desperate to be begging for money from your potential customers... So if I pledge $10,000 for your crap game to be made I get bumper stickers? LMFAO!SKaREO

Way to be a complete douchebag there, if you aren't interested then fine but why even bother posting in here if you aren't interested ? Oh and for 10k you get a lil bit more than some "bumper stickers" you actually get flown to the UK at their expense, put up in a hotel, attend the launch party AND you become one of the Opponents in the game as well as all the other stuff. If you are a huge fan of Carmageddon that is fantastic and if I had the 10 grand to spare I would definitely go for it.

Just had a look at the kickstarter now and they are over $100,000 at least a quarter of the way there in less than a day which is great to hear. I haven't pledged myself yet, still umming and ahhing about how much I am gonna pledge.

You might want to hold off on buying Mass Effect 3 and buy a new keyboard instead, you space bar appears to be defective. As far as I can tell from your post you are asking if there are two separate story lines in Mass Effect 3, 1 for the male Shepard and 1 for the female Shepard is that right ? If so then the answer is NO the story line stays the same regardless of gender. There are certain differences depending on what gender you choose to play, for example the people you can romance in the game differ depending on which gender you are playing.

I remember a few years ago when they were releasing the DLC for GTA 4 on the PC and PS3. Just before launch it was delayed for both platforms by 2 weeks. Apparently Sony Europe threw a hissy fit about some content in the DLC and it would take 2 weeks to solve. There was absolutely NO reason for them to delay the PC version and at the time Rockstar said "it wouldn't be fair to PS3 users to release the PC version first". At the time I posed the question to Rockstar as to whether they would be just as "fair" to PC gamers ?

Turns out I didn't have to wait too long for my answer. Here they are releasing the console version two weeks before the PC version, I wonder what happened to all of Rockstars notions of "fairness" ? Still a bit hard for me to get annoyed by this, I haven't touched anything from Rockstar since GTA 4 and I won't be touching Max Payne 3 either.
