because I have never heard of this game.GummiRaccoon

Yup that is a pretty valid reason, this is the first time I have ever heard of this game myself. The one thing that always bugs me about games on the PC is no developer pushes their product. How can I buy a product that I don't even know exists ? This is one of the reasons Starcraft 2 has done so well, you can't move on the net without being deludged by articles, news stories and opinion pieces on starcraft 2.

It doesn't require a high end computer.... What does it matter what is needed to MAX out a damn game? I mean wtf? Lets all only play games from 2001 then. No reason to keep improving the graphics...... Also, Physx doesn't require two cards. I can play Cryostasis with one card fine.morrowindnic

I think you should review the specifications needed to run Mafia 2 with Physx's enabled :-

http://thegamingliberty.com/index.php/2010/07/10/mafia-2-system-specs-revealed/

PHSYX/APEX ENHANCEMENTS SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP (SP2 or later) / Windows Vista / Windows 7 Minimum Processor: 2.4 GHz Quad Core processor
Recommended Processor: 2.66 GHz Core i7-920 RAM: 2 GB

Video Cards and resolution: APEX medium settings
Minimum: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 (or better) for Graphics and a dedicated NVIDIA 9800GTX (or better) for PhysX
Recommended: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470 (or better)Apex requirements

Now just because you can play Cryostatis with physx on one card that does not mean you will be able to do that with Mafia 2. I am not speculating here I am going off the available information we have and the requirements for Mafia 2 with Physx's enabled are extreme to say the least.

The game will run fine with a low end card and a decent dual core I'm 100% sure of that.GeneralShowzer

You are basing that on what exactly ? The recommended specs to play this game (ignoring physx's) is a quadcore + a 9800GTX now bear in mind we do not know exactly what quality we will get if we have the recommended specs (for the record I have a quad + GTX260). The only information we have is the official recommended specs and they don't exactly scream "OPTIMISED GAME" to me. I remember another game that needed a quadcore to play at "recommended" settings and we all know how GTA 4 turned out.

However we are getting away from the topic, I merely stated the reasons why I am not getting Mafia 2, the ridiculously high system requirements are just one of my many reasons for avoiding this game till it is in the bargain bucket for a fiver.

Well that is your view GeneralShowzer however I didn't mention "turning physx's on high" the fact is too even access the physx's AT ALL you are going to need a second video card. The fact the game requires such excessive top end requirements to max it out makes me wonder how well the game actually performs at the recommended settings. After all they haven't actually told us what to expect if we have a machine that meets the recommended spec.

Nope, well not till it reaches a bargain bin price, several reasons have resulted in this decision. Firstly there is the truly horrendous requirements to run the game. Secondly with holding game content from PC and Xbox users is a big no no for me. Then there is the fact they are jerking us around with different pre-order incentives depending on where you buy the damn game. Finally it looks like the game lasts at best 10 hours. All in all I will take my money elsewhere, which is a shame really because I really enjoyed Mafia 1.

I like to mix and match, I also use different squad mates for different missions. I have found sometimes the missions have "unique" dialogue depending on which party members you take on certain missions. A good example is to take Legion along to do Tali's loyalty mission and watch the sparks fly :D

Here is the link to the image that shows you that Microsoft is going to announce something PC-related. http://forums.gamesforwindows.com/cfs-filesystemfile.ashx/__key/CommunityServer.Discussions.Components.Files/3/0525.Capture.PNG What exactly do you think it'll be? I am going to be majorly surprised if it is going to be about announcing Halo: Reach for the PC but if it is not it then what is it? One thing's for sure, is that we're going to find out later this month when Gamescom takes place on 18 August in Germany.

Philhellene

OK maybe I am missing something incredibly obvious here with that link. All I see is a list of categories with the PC included, there is also a category for "handhelds" as well but I am not expecting to hear much from MS on "handhelds". Either way MS is way too busy trying to push Kinect on the xbox 360 for it to give any serious attention to the PC.

It would be even cooler if 360 and PC people could play together. PC players get KB/M, and 360 players get auto aim...which I think would even things out overall. Guess we'll see though. testament1

The odds of the PC getting Halo : Reach are astronomically low, the odds of it having crossplay are mind boggling. There is no chance in this universe that there will be crossplay :-

Sood's sources claim that Microsoft pitted the best console players using control pads against "mediocre" PC gamers with mice and keyboards and found that the console players were "destroyed every time." It was apparently so bad, he wrote, that cross-platform play would have been an embarrassment to the Xbox team.Rahul Sood

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/7.217020-Rumor-Microsoft-Killed-PC-Xbox-Cross-Platform-Play

I am still not convinced we will see Halo : Reach I wouldn't say that forum post is an indication of anything but some guy messing about.

I would be a bit wary about buying a dual core these days myself, sure the machine with a decent GPU will handle most games you throw at it today but a dual cores days are numbered and it might be worth stumping up a bit of extra cash for a quadcore to give it a bit more "future proofing".

Seems like a decent review to me and a very respectable score. I really do not understand all this "OMGZ it didn't get 10 out of 10 da review is FAILZ" rubbish. The game from what I hear is fantastic and that comes across in the review. It does not however deserve 10 out of 10 I would go as far to say no game in the past few years deserves 10 out of 10 there are faults with every game. As a matter of fact I get very suspicious of games that get full marks these days so in a way a 9.5 will actually work better for Starcraft 2 than a full 10.

All in all a decent review that concentrated mostly on the strengths of Starcraft 2 and a realistic 9.5 rather than a hyped "10" ....... hm got to love it a review of a review.
