The point is, its not forced on the ps3, like it is on the 360. You have no choice but to see ads on nearly every screen you cycle through. Also to argue with you on the switching displays, you only have to do that when changing the cable of the console. As long as you are still using that same cable, it will automatically adjust for that resolution. Trust me, just recently took it off a tv with max 720p support to a monitor with 1080p support, didnt change a thing in the settings. And to PROVE to you, about the system turning on and NOT showing the screen you are talking about. Here is a video of my ps3 being turned on, and going directly to the game section.(there is no disc in the console btw)
@skiggy29 sony stated the reason they havent shown the ps4 in physical form is because that part of the console DOES NOT matter, which is true. In which i hope you are not comparing that to these rumors of the 360. to do so would be completely stupid of you as they in no way have anything to do with each other. so your argument on that, is completely invalid.
@skiggy29 niether console will be backwards compatible because of the x86 processor. The same applies to PC software. You have 32 bit software(x86 CPU) and 64 bit software (x64 CPU). 32 bit, and 64 bit programs WILL work on a pc with a 64bit processor. But 64bit programs WILL NOT work on a pc with a 32bit processor. So you look at the 360 and PS3 as being equivalent to a 64 bit pc. the x86 chip in the new consoles is actually less powerful than the previous chips used and does not contain the power to be backwards compatible. Therefore, software emulation would have to be implemented. And if you remember, when the PS3 FIRST came out it was 100% backwards compatible, where as the 360 was not. Sony made the choice to take that out to lower production costs on future consoles. And its "either" not "neither".
@skiggy29 you have the stupidest responses. When developers are more excited to work on a specific console, they tend to focus more on that console. Sales do not determine a better product. The wii, ps2, and ps1,nds sales in terms of how quickly they got them, are far greater than that of the ps3 and 360. that doesnt make them a better system. Games make the system. Exclusives make the system. FANS make the system. All those are the factors. The NDS has outsold the ps3 and 360. is it better, alot would argue no, but it still is a great system. Im sorry, but youre retarded if you actually think sales matter that much. Seriously, the 360 was outselling the ps3 like crazy, but why is that? Im sure alot of the sales had to do with the console having so many problems and microsoft not wanting to do anything about it for nearly a year, and people being forced to buy another one. What a console has to offer makes the console better. Which goes back to when you left a comment on another post of mine. ALL THOSE STUPID POINTLESS ADS ON THE 360, ARE USELESS!. @skiggy29 when you turn on the ps3, you are not presented with countless apps and ads. cluttering the entire screen. when moving through the xbox screens, you actually see videos playing. the only APPS on the ps3, you have to download yourself.(vudu, netflix, hulu, facebook) they arent on there, until you put them on there. and when i turn my ps3 on, it puts me right in the column for the game section. and who cares even if you would have to scroll over, ITS NOT BOGGED DOWN BY USELESS CRAP that 90% of users dont even use. and if you read what i said again, you will notice i said all those systems, then ETC. meaning there are other systems, but yes, i chose to exclude that because im not a fan of microsoft. you have obviously read too much into it, no the ps2 isnt as simple in terms of architecture, but in terms of navigation, and simplicity, it is. and yes the stuff is there on the ps3, but you have to access the store to see it all. when you scroll through each section on the XMB, you dont see multiple ads, you see only objects dedicated to just that part. NO ADS. NO ADS. NO ADS. Like i said before, 90% of the people that play these consoles im sure do not want to turn on their console and immediately see a trailer for a movie or game they could care less about. the PS3 DOES NOT, i repeat DOES NOT do that. If yours does, then you have the only ps3 in the world that does.
