Pretty much. Just look at the Valve hardware survey: something like 80% of respondents are still using XP. The government and big companies aren't embracing Vista either.
I found Vista pretty, but slow and bloated, and only marginally better than XP in terms of features. If I had to pay for my copy, I would have been severely disappointed. Moreover, my sound card and tv tuner weren't compatible, and I'm not wasting my money to upgrade when both of them work perfectly in XP, so that pretty much made my decision for me to switch back to XP. DX10 is also a big flop as most games now are multiplatform and therefore DX9, and DX10 is just an afterthought at best. I also hated the performance hit in games, which was more noticeable in some cases, Crysis being a good example.
It's not that Vista doesn't work, it just doesn't work anywhere near as well as XP. I'm also not a fan of the forced upgrade agenda. Why am I just expected to throw my old hardware, like my TV tuner, in the trash? I never had to do that when switching from 2000 to XP, and I don't recall anythign like that when switching from 98 to 2000. A good OS is compatible with everything, even old hardware.
OP, your processor is incredibly weak. 2.2 ghz Core 2 duo? That is not enough for high settings. You are going to need to look at a high core 2 duo (E8400 or something like that) or a core 2 quad if you want to play on all high.the_ChEeSe_mAn2
How is a 2.2ghz Core 2 Duo "incredibly weak"? That's far more powerful than anything in the consoles.
The fact of the matter is that GTA4 is a poorly optimized mess.
[QUOTE="Whiteblade999"]Gamestop has the bright idea that pc games don't matter, consoles are the dominant market and they wanna jump on the bandwagon. They are also hypocrits because they sell you "new" games but they are all open, at least here. If you want a good selection try Bestbuy or Amazon if you don't mind buying online.xAngels_AssasinIm quickly becoming a Steam guy , retail is becoming weaker and weaker.
I prefer Steam anyway. Case in point of how nice Steam is: I forgot to pack any games to bring to my Dad's house while I'm staying with him for a week over Christmas. With Steam it's no big deal. I just installed it on his PC and now can download Call of Duty 4, Left 4 Dead, and any number of other great games I've bought through Steam.
As far as Gamestop is concerned, it seems like the one near me is run by high school kids who know very little about gaming in general. I went there to trade in a bunch of old console games, and asked for a boxed copy of Left 4 Dead for PC, and the girl at the counter was like "for PC? I didn't realize they made games for that"

That's a really simplistic and ignorant way to look at it. If anything, we're finding that a suprising number of cancers have a viral etiology. Cervical cancer and HPV or Lymphoma and EBV for example.
You certainly have a valid point, but are you suggesting that all cancers are now solely linked to viruses and not just a blatant bad diet, trans fats, stress, and lack of physical exercise?
Viruses and genetic predispositioning, yes. That's where most of the scientific evidence is now pointing. Of course the environment interacts with those things.
My stepfather for example did everything right. Strict diet. He went running almost every day. He still contracted multiple myeloma and was dead in three years. He survived far longer than most people with high viscosity multiple myeloma because he was in such great physical shape, but it didn't prevent him from getting the disease.
Having watched him whither away to nothing and die, after going through a series of ultimately futile stem cell transplants that never offered him any hope of a cure, I find this thread extremely offensive. It implies that the disease was somehow his fault. The reality is that he died a senseless death because he got dealt a crappy hand in life.
[QUOTE="jasperrussell"]What kind of cancer are we talking about????????
breast cancer, colon cancer, skin cancer, lung cancer, testicular cancer......
none of these have anything to do with being lazy, glutinous or greedy.

Cancers are also being detected and treated much earlier than before, and people are living longer.
Since when is there a writing portion of the SAT? Keep in mind that I took the test about ten years ago. It just had verbal and math.
I scored in the 1300s (don't remember the exact number). It was out of 1600. Not that it matters. Once you get into college noone cares what you got on your SATs.
[QUOTE="fellybat"]Vitamin C, sleep, and ibuprofen (NOT Acetaminophen-paracetamol!) is the only solution...otherwise, keep drinking and make a 48-hour session of it...
Co-codamol can work too, but it is only legally available in certain European countries.

Ibuprofen? Ibuprofen works about as well as applying a wet rag to a raging fire. Acetaminophen is best, but you CANNOT take too much of it, unless you like ulcers.
You got that backwards. Ibuprofen taken on a regular basis can cause ulcers, and should be taken with food. Acetominophen = Tylenol, which only helps with mild headaches. Avoid taking NSAIDs on any sort of regular basis anyway as they can cause chronic medication overuse headaches.
If you think you might have migraines, you should really be on a triptan (eg Imitrex, Treximet, Frova, etc), as a migraine is more than just a "bad headache". It's a neurovascular pheonomenon which requires specialized treatment.
