FarCry 2 and Spore were absolute trash. Good to see people didn't waste their money on them.

Fallout 3 was good, but nothing spectacular. The opening in the vault was particularly well done, and the main quest had a few high points, like the Tranquility Lane VR simulation, but the ending sucked and it was much too short. With the exception of nuking Megaton, none of the sidequests were memorable. The NPCs behave like robots and have terrible dialogue just like in Oblivion, and the game world is pretty barren. Aside from VATS, it felt like a reskinned Oblivion. I'd give it an 8/10. The main quest is enjoyable, but something you could easily finish in 8-10hrs, and once it was over, I saw no reason to continue playing.

The "doorbuster" sales on Black Friday are usually on crap that the stores are just trying to get rid of because noone would buy it unless it was massively discounted. Moreover, you can find similar prices online any day of the week, retail sucks that badly...probably why so many retail chains are going under.

Certainly nothing worth trampling a guy to death over...

I agree about fallout. I enjoyed the storyline, but I found the gameworld too barren and depressing to wander around exploring much the way I did in Oblivion.

Well this thread has made me lose my will to live. Gamespot this thread has pointed out all the pirates to you. To you so called pc gamers, i don't care how much excuses you come up with to defend piracy. Man you all say i don't condone piracy then you make up excusues for it. Are you so consumed with winning an arguement on technicality that you forget the big picture. FFS i don't care about your defenition of stealing, someone put in alot of hours of thier time to create something but hey lets get caught up in red tape and say its fine to steal it cause its "not a real item and im only copying it". Man you all make me sick and i really hope devs say to hell with you and move away from pc gaming casue its the only thing some of you idiots would understand.

When the hell did things go down the toilet so bad. You don't get it, you can come up with every reason in the world why piracy happens but remember every arguement you make for arguements sake gives ammunition to the pirate.

Gamespot look closley at your members they think that someones hard work isn't classed as property and therefore is ok to steal (but they will never say that they don't condone it but then make excuses for it) hmm doesn't take a genius to figure out what side of the fence they sit on.

To pirates, go die in a fire.

Get off your high horse. I'm sure you've sampled other people's intellectual property without paying for it. Ever listened to a song on the radio, or read a book you didn't own? Borrowed a DVD from someone? How is this dramatically different?

You act like piracy is akin to rape or murder. Oh noes, some crappy and absurdly wealthy company like Ubisoft or EA won't make even more money to churn out the same mediocre games year after year. Cue sad violins.

Yeah, I wouldn't be too upset about Gears 2 possibly not coming to the PC. It's a rental at best. Very little was changed from the first game. The graphics are only slightly improved, there are a few new weapons (a flame thrower and a machine pistol), and you can duel with chainsaws, which is actually pretty useless and a good way to get yourself killed. The campaign is decent but not great. The cave sections get incredibly repetitive. The storyline doesn't go anywhere. The online is what you would expect from Live (ie full of little kids and jerks). Horde is sort of fun if you can get a decent group together. If it had come out on the PC I think you'd be hard pressed to call it anything other than an expansion pack. You're basically paying $60 for a new campaign and a few minor improvements. I sold it pretty quickly and luckily got most of my money back.

And btw, we have every reason to be snobs. The PC is the best gaming platform. Although I'll admit that the consoles can be fun too from time to time.

I didn't have to play all the way through to know that it was absolute trash. I uninstalled it after only about four or five hours.

There was nothing redeeming about it.

The town is full of jerks, especially the bartender who jacks up the price for what's essentially useless information anyway if you ask him a second time where your father is without completing his little errand boy task. I think that was the point where I decided to murder everyone in the town, loot their stuff, and then nuke it. Make sure you use a melee weapon when you genocide the town though. You don't want to waste any ammo. Also make sure to raid the town armory, and kill that mercenary guy (i think his name was Jericho) as that gives you some really nice weapons and armor early in the game.

I killed the sheriff early on, so I had fun walking around the town in the sheriff's outfit, clubbing people to death with a lead pipe and saying "I'm the new sheriff of this town!"

I also made sure to kill Tenpenny and Burke point blank with a shotgun to thank them for my new apartment. I spared most of the people in tenpenny tower though. I needed the shops there for trading.

But eh, whatever. Most of the NPCs are either unlikeable or behave like robots, just like in Oblivion, so I had no qualms about doing this kind of stuff. At least the game lets you be evil.

My favorite pirate excuse? "I had to make sure it will run on my system"

It's called a demo...

Hot_Potato

Demos are actually pretty rare these days. They can also be deceptive when they do come out. I remember, for example, Prey having a great demo, but the actual game sucked balls, and I even felt that way having gotten it for $5 during one of those Steam weekend sales.
